We help make better games, if a new game comes out in a popular franchise on consoles (Call of Duty), lots of people will buy and play it even if its mediocre or nothing has changed, PC Gamers are harder to please, they demand customer respect, and nitpick (albiet sometimes to the extreme) a game's flaws moreso, thats why COD/Halo and games that are hastily "ported" to PC don't sell well, not pirates, something like %5 percent of PC Gamers pirate, sure each of those guys download way more games than legit people buy, but they aren't going to buy games consistently anyway. Battlefield 3 for instance, next to nothing has been seen of gameplay, but PC Gamers are excited because DICE appreciates us. They admit you can push more innovative tech and more hardcore gameplay on PC, and they made BF3 for the PC primarily, then scaled it down for consoles. Now they also said they would actually progress thier game (unlike COD which makes very little changes, yet naive console kiddies are still satisfied) with things like 64 player matches, larger destructible maps, and fixed wing aircraft. more balanced/realistic shooting. I do acknowledge we can be irritating, but in the end PC Gamers high standards push games forward, Console games help force developers to optimize and stramline games for a less hardcore (and larger audience). You play an important part, but we are qualitative (we create quality), console markets are quantitative (dumb down those concepts/tech to make more sales). We are on the leading edge, and consolers are just pumping a little extra money into the system.

There are sheep on PC too of course, hence the CoD sales lol.

I would say elitist PC gamers laugh at CoD, so I'm with you there. Elites rock (ok, i rock), they are scorned by society but usually on top of the bell-curve and first to discover "awesomeness".

Consoles are the sewage treatment plant of PC games.

Well it was the top selling steam game by a landslide. And there is an article out there stating steam accounted for 50-70% of total PC game sales last year. So I may be wrong, but even if I am, it's still a very strong seller on PC.

From time to time I find myself being called annoying, or elitist, just for stating the truth. Like the numerous times I have had to explain cell streaming to a console gamer, only for them to get angry, because I dared to suggest 256mb of ram isn't just as capable as 2GB+.

If knowing what you are talking about makes you elitist, then it's hardly a negative label.

PC gamers aren't annoying, hermits and exclusivists are. Most of my friends who have beast PCs that can run anything will still look at me playing Killzone 3 and think the graphics are good, or see me playing Halo: Reach and acknowledge it's a good FPS, even if they can't play shooters with dual-analog sticks.

My problem is with these forum-dwellers that haven't had a console since pre-2000, and to justify the hefty amount of money they invest in their PC they say that only the PC makes good looking games, and that consoles are ruining the gaming industry. It's just so dumb, it's annoying.

Steam doesn't Equal PC Gaming and Call of Duty is a Steam-Based Game soooo everyone who is playing it, has to show up on Steam. Anyways, it is a popular game but not the most popular. Battlefield out sells Call of Duty on PC.

Justin Bieber was popular. Therefore he is good? Same with Twilight, worst novel ever written IMO and yet it sold millions.

Re-read the TC.

The point is (even if its a subset) PC gamers have HIGHER standards, hence the anti-console rage and non-acceptance of console games.

Our higher standards lead (or led) developers to create great games; now with multiplat devs can easily port console-fails onto PC, but the subset of PC gamers with higher standards still call for pro-games. So, its not that we are annoying, its that we are being force fed baby food when we are use to Ruth's Chris steak.

My point is that PC gamers don't have higher standards. It's simply a small minority like you who get on forums are complain about nothing, while the rest of us play our games. All of these so called watered down games sell millions.

Very much doubt that FEAR 2 sold as much as FEAR, or Gothic IV as much as the rest of the franchise. Fable III was a great seller on 360...You think it will sell on PC? Nope, it won't....No way. :)

Anyways, what people find annoying is the elitist PC gamers, not PC gamers in general. The ones with a sense of superiority because they play GAMES on hardware more powerful than someone else. Not only is it annoying, it is stupid as well.

Elitist PC gamers: We believe consoles suck at gaming and PC is the only true gaming machine.

Console gamers : We believe we don't care.

Of course, there are Consoles gamers like this too (Some HD gamers when it comes to Wii).

Bad Company was always the console entry in the franchise.

Even so, it was heavily tweaked for PC. Wasdie blogs about ithttp://www.gamespot.com/users/Wasdie/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25897967

There's always mainstream PC gamers, but there are also the ones that don't want their platform to be treated as a dumping ground for console games.

It is still better the Call of Duty, IMO. I only bought it because its was only 6 bucks on Steam during the Holidays. (Trying finding Call of Duty on Sale) Never was a big fan of the Bad Company series, but it is not a bad game.

Add: I also got Bad Company 2: Vietnam for 5 Bucks (Plus Free Games) of the EA Store. 11 Bucks for the Whole Combo? Not Bad at All...Pretty Great Deal.

I use a Price per Quality of Game scale. To me Call of Duty isn't worth $60 bucks, so I would never buy it that price point. If it were $40? Then maybe. $30? I would buy day one.

You can pick on specific games if you want... for example CoD, MW2 was more nooby than CoD4 probably was, yet PC MW2 > PC CoD4 in sales. It would be nice to get the numbers for PC ME and PC ME2.... I'm willing to bet ME2 > ME in sales as well but I could be wrong. There is no debate casuals are the majority on consoles... on PC I'm not so sure but the "hardcore" certainly represent a bigger % than on consoles. Anyways, it would be nice to get some numbers on the PC sales but they are always a pain to get because of DD.

Better in your mind. Better is up to the individual to determine. Elitist try to take that chance away from alot of PC gamers. Just because they don't like/want something doesn't mean everyone is going to feel that way.

Wii4Fun

On the flip side, console gamers that boast superiority over a few hundred pixels different, while downplaying the more than double resolution of a PC. I swear some console gamers think they can seemingly tweak more performance out of a console to a infinite degree, but the idea that 2011 hardware is better than what is in consoles; is somehow "debatable".

But call of duty did sell well. In fact, I think it was the best selling game on steam last year.

There are sheep on PC too of course, hence the CoD sales lol.

I would say elitist PC gamers laugh at CoD, so I'm with you there. Elites rock (ok, i rock), they are scorned by society but usually on top of the bell-curve and first to discover "awesomeness".

Consoles are the sewage treatment plant of PC games.

haberman13

So where do i fit in Check my Games List please. Yeah thats right if were gonna pull self proclaimed Titels i must be Super Elite and not far off a manticore! So i own and play both Consoles and PC! I also play COD and Games like Witcher. So yeah i must be Super Elite now i need someone who owns and has just as if not more so diverse collection of games to own me.

Of course my opinion must be one of the most important because i am a PC Gamer and Console gamer thus overiding PC only owner and console only owners! Lol :P Im Joking but you should be able to see where i am coming from.

PC elitist are annoying, not PC gamers. Please don't confuse the two.i5750at4Ghz

People aren't gonna limit themselves to exclusives or PC centered games. But it's not too much to ask a game that sold millions on PC, not to feel like a cheap console ported game. It's not really, it's not elitist it's just reasonable.

It doesn't feel cheap or like a console port.

[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"][QUOTE="i5750at4Ghz"] My point is that PC gamers don't have higher standards. It's simply a small minority like you who get on forums are complain about nothing, while the rest of us play our games. All of these so called watered down games sell millions.alfredooo

Very much doubt that FEAR 2 sold as much as FEAR, or Gothic IV as much as the rest of the franchise. Fable III was a great seller on 360...You think it will sell on PC? Nope, it won't....No way. :)

You can pick on specific games if you want... for example CoD, MW2 was more nooby than CoD4 probably was, yet MW2 > CoD4 in sales. It would be nice to get the numbers for ME and ME2.... I'm willing to bet ME2 > ME in sales as well but I could be wrong. There is no debate casuals are the majority on consoles... on PC I'm not so sure but the "hardcore" certainly represent a bigger % than on consoles. Anyways, it would be nice to get some numbers on the PC sales but they are always a pain to get because of DD.

depending on your definition of a game. PC still easily trounces all other platforms in number of users and games. I mean everyone who can use the PC plays a game of some sort.

my dad plays Solitare and Minesweeper (yes i know they're free, but he does still play it from time to time).

Bejweeled, browser based games, MMO's, etc. etc. but almost none of those are hardware-pushers like the Battlefield 3 or Crysis.

I mean PC hermits wanna ***** about being a dumping ground of console ports, remember there is a boat load of shovelware put on the system as well. It is also the Indie gamer scene as well. There are trade off's.

as the number of people who play games grow, were gonna see more niche's being filled. I still think that eventually after possibly one more generation of consoles, we'll see the advent of cloud-based gaming REALLY take off. that i think will be the death and rebirth of consoles. better looking games will be up to the providers hardware, not relying on the user to constantly have to know the intricacies of the PC to make it cost efficient, or have to turn around spend a whole lot of money then necessary to get the possible looking game of that year.

I can master the art of deriding hyperbole as well.

if consoles is the waste-treatment plant of gaming, then PC gaming is the minefield of gaming. your just happy to get the game to run on time. I mean it only costed you 250 bucks for a new card, upgrading drivers, dealing with trouble shooting problems, draconian DRM..

but hell at least the game is NOT accessable for the masses to enjoy.

PC hermit heritagy. where having games be accessable and enjoyable is derided, and being part of a tiny elite community who can play their games at bleeding edge tech (seriosuly don't kid me on the numbers, vast majorty of PC fans are not the hermits) and acting smug as hell is to be lauded.

The PC hermit, less stupid then console fanboy, but makes up for it by being a bigger an A-hole.

and yet i don't really see any sheep trying to pretend graphics are better, and almost never NEVER do 360 fanboys vs PS3 fanboys ever bring up the Wii when they're fighting over who has that slightly better shade on-that-tree-that-unless-i-stopped-and-looked-for-a-moment-in-the-chase-scene-would-of-noticed. maybe they do. but as of late the hermits have come out of their dungeons to cry foul over anything that has dared to touch consoles from Dragon Age 2 to Crysis 2, to lauding Battlefield 3.

Not to the same extent. Not even close, I would say. Just from the people posting on this thread I recognize at least one who has tried connect console gaming with a lower level of intelligence. That's pretty bad, like way beyond making fun of a console's hardware and games.

What impresses me most about PC-gamers is the amount of games they can play in a year. They have 90+ exclusives coming out that are not constrained by consoles and therefore can push both gameplay and technology on PC to the max. Yet PC-gamers are not satisfied. They complain about a couple of multiplats being "consolized". Personally I'm happy if I can play more than 15 games/year, so I find their dedication amazing.

A lot of those games don't have gigantic budgets that allow them to push visuals.

The problem with this is the fact that pushing visuals is not necessary for a amazing game.. Blizzard and Valve games are proof of that.. Both devs garner some of the largest communities out there.

[QUOTE="i5750at4Ghz"][QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"] Yes, it was a strong seller. But only because it's the most popular franchise on the planet :)haberman13

Because people like it. Making the TC point pretty much void. /thread

So, its not that we are annoying, its that we are being force fed baby food when we are use to Ruth's Chris steak.

bad example, if you want REAL good food, go eat in Europe

Man I hate PC Elitists. It makes me not want to be part of this PC gaming crowd. I love PC Gaming, but people that say "consoles suck" or "all console games are terrible, lul" really aggravate me. It's just ridiculous. I own a PS3, PC, and 360, and I like them equally. Pisses me off when stupid Elitists give PC Gamers like myself a bad name.

Having played some of the best PC games of all time, I can safely say that my absolute favourite games of all time were on consoles (Uncharted 2, OoT, etc)

You're really missing out on some of the best games of this generation by ignoring consoles.

Any elitist is annoying, but at least PC gamers egos are founded in reality, we KNOW our systems can output better than consoles because of the hardware we have. Try reasoning with PS3 gamers that have no technical knowledge, so the capabilities of their system is limited only by their imagination...

"PS3 actually as significantly more memory than PC, because by utilizing Cell properly; you can use Blu-ray's as ram. Therefore, PS3 can have 50GB of ram at its disposal! Lol, PC what?"

I think that might be the basis for the hate a lot of so called "PC Elitist" get. At least with PS3/360 fanboys there is room for argument when it comes to the capabilities of the systems.

However at the end of the day there are some awesome games on the consoles I would love to see on the PC. Especially Sony/Nintendo 1st/2nd party titles.

So PS3 fanboys are worse, but PC fanboys really anger me as well. And I'm not referring to the POWER of a PC (hell, by looking at my sig you can tell that I have a pretty powerful PC), but the fact that some PC fanboys seem to think that good games don't exist on consoles. Which is plain wrong.
