You are missing a lot of this point i'm making. All other Valve Software and games on 720. Left 4 Dead for example. You should see the amount of threads in the Sony forums asking if they may get Left 4 Dead. So surly we will have a Left 4 Dead 2 on 720 most likley.

HL3 wont kill a system. As amazing HL series is (best FPS ever IMO) It's still just a single game.

The only company that can kill a system now is EA. If EA decided to exclusively support console 1, console 2 would be dead.

Well the only reason I could see someone not trusting Valve is because they've really only made 2 games- Half Life and Portal (which was like 2 houirs) The rest were all mods that they glorified. Actually, even Portal was a glorified version of the students from that college games

Honestly though, that depends on Microsoft. If they get Valve to support them it could without a doubt end up on the 360.

You do understand that Team Fortress and Counterstrike were created by modders, right? TF was actually originally a quake mod, and counterstrike a half life 1 mod.

Mass Effect was built by Bioware. It's not a direct rip-off of any other game

The only thing is that with modders, the people who make the game aren't part of the company. Therefore they won't be working on Left 4 Dead. It's like giving Tom credit for something Bob did.

And about that Valve were quake modders. I've made some HL mods myself. That being said, when I make a flash game, that's not a mod. I'm being a game creator then, not a modder.
