They're doing that now and it won't stop Nintendo at all. You've got to realize this one thing. It isn't that there may not be a market for traditional gaming handhelds, its that there may not be a market for non-Nintendo traditional gaming handhelds. With the 3DS selling 15 million units in 2011, when it sold terrible for 4 months and was only available for 9 months, it could be on track to post another 15 million or close to 20 million unit sales in 2012 alone. The 3DS could very well, and is on track to sell 60-100 million units after 3-6 years even if it never approaches DS like records sales. I'd say that is a market for traditional handhelds. Also, Investors, especially Nintendo's are stupid and fickle. I've read numerous articles on the demands some of them have actually asked Iwata in meetings and they're nearly as stupid as if somebody asked Vince McMahon on a investor's cal why he doesn't fold WWE and buy a NFL team since the NFL consistently crushes Monday Night Raw in ratings.I hope people realise that if the Vita fails there is going to be a lot of pressure on Nintendo from investors to not release a dedicated handheld after the 3DS.
