loved the fighting engine hated the game.
i'm not going to eat a turd just because there are a few M&Ms in there someplace.
If you like frustrating yourself, then go for it. Since when are video games suppost to be painful to play? Its suppost to be a relaxing and enjoying experience. So it wasn't a "hold X to win" game like everything else.
What, does it need more iron sights, auto aim, killstreaks, and perks for you to stand a chance?

So every game out there should be a casual and easy experiance so you can sit back and sip ice tea while the game pretty much plays itself?
Oh no, there was finally some variety on the consoles!

I'm guessing somewhere towards the end of last generation with Halo or CoD being one of his first games.

Some people actually want a challenge when they play games. just because you don't, does not make game that are difficult terrible. Dark Souls was obviously too intense for you. Try simpler games like Angry Birds or Tic Tac Toe. Those have low learning curves and are relaxing

todays games have too many options for that to be any real problem.i just replayed through red dead and turning off the lock-on makes that game go from a walk in the park to an actual challenge.
if games are too easy then most of the time it is operator error if there is a difficulty option.
Haven't played Dark Souls yet, but I completed Demons Souls. I really enjoyed it, primarily due its atmosphere.
The most frustrating thing about it wasn't so much the difficulty of the enemies, but being pushed back and forced to replay entire levels - some of which weren't particularly fun (like the swamp world...ergh...).
Demon's was a lot harder than Dark. Both fantastic games, best rpgs ive played in a long time.carlisledavid79Yeah, Demon's felt harder on the first playthrough. Being cursed in Dark was easily remedied and O & S weren't hard at all with the right gear.

Changing a game's difficulty isn't the same as the core mechanics of the game having a natural difficulty to them.
Changing your core mechanics so it can scale to easier difficulties and to broaden the playerbase could have negative impact on the whole game on all difficulties.
Imagine if they had an "arcade" mode to ArmA, the changes they would have to make to the core would break the whole game, and most developers aren't going to spend the time to make two different versions of the same game.

They could have implemented an offline 'easy' mode to introduce the game and the challenge to newcomers, or just have an actual easy mode and split the community so players of different difficulties don't interact with each other. That way they may sell more copies and keep the normal fans happy.Second_Hokagewhen did you start gaming? late 90s? 2002? Yup, but how is that an issue? I have beaten numerous games in their highest difficulty, when its fair challenge. Not, let me throw in 8 frogs who will curse you and you cannot block while im laughing right now, ahahahahhaa... Thats exactly what i though bandai was thinking. I did beat the game, but it doesnt deserve any praises.
Yeah the frogs spit poisonous gas, you cant block air particles, so you should roll away. If you die and get back to the same part, use arrows to bait them out (although I can't recall a section that has 5 frogs all in the same spot. I only know of one with 3 down in the sewers)

Such changes don't happen easily, especially when the team isn't all that large and not running on a massive budget.
You can't just take your game an make an "easy" mode without a considerable amount of design changes, programing, and testing.

well i always wished i could have played demons souls but i field calls from clients at all times of the day and night so the first time i answered the phone and couldn't pause the game and got smashed and had to start over i was done.people want to make this out as a difficulty problem but it was not that.
it was a playability problem.

Well, you could just tone down damage taken and up damage dealt, lower stamina drain whilst blocking and swinging and stuff. I dunno, not huge changes necessarily, just things that favour the player.Lol, WTF you on about? So it wasn't a "hold X to win" game like everything else.

The game was ok, but due to its adherence to its masochism like no real checkpoints and some cheap tactics, it never succeeded in what was advertised for me.EasyleI'm hoping someone will mod a quick save or something into the PC version, I hate crappy save systems.

Quick-saves doesn't suit Dark Souls. I hear Risk vs. Reward is a factor, and adding quick-save would make it worse.

The bonfires are your save/checkpoint systems. You get a certain amount of Estus Flasks at each bonfire, and you don't get to replenish them until another bonfire
It would be incredibly lame if you could just kill an enemy, save, kill another enemy, save, etc

Can't we have our own damn game without it being casualized? Quick Save would ruin the game, or have PC gamers been so hand held with casual auto-quick saving experiances they fergot how to do challenging checkpoints?
lol, the game was so much softer on you than demon's souls. game's awesome, deal with it. it actually has a learning curve, for a change.BrunoBRS
I wouldint say its softer then demon souls mainly cause since its open you dont have a clue where you are going and I ran into 1 or 2 cheap tatics from the game. As in putting you in a tiny as corner with a monster thats waiting for you at the front door with a very long weapon and has speed and 3 or more rat friends waiting to trap you in the corner. Theres a difference between cheap and challenging and its seems to be more difficult then demon souls dark souls went to cheap tatics that involve luck rather then any type of skill. Thats one of the reasons I feel demon souls comes out the better game.
I agree it's terrible, but I got too bored with it before I could get frustrated. I knew I should have gotten NHL 12 in that buy 2 get 1 free amazon deal instead. :(
You think FIFA number 1231 is a better game? :lol:I agree it's terrible, but I got too bored with it before I could get frustrated. I knew I should have gotten NHL 12 in that buy 2 get 1 free amazon deal instead. :(
