Do you? Laptops and portable disc players

Both of those devices have already been mentioned as not being comparable.

I saw this earlier in another thread. I laughed at it, for one why would you move it while its on and two this is common sense. Nice going on trying to bash the new system.

the 360 has a dvd drive that doesnt hold on to the disc thats why the game scratches. the reason why the wii, ps3 dont do it is because they grab the disc tightly in the drive

bigM10231

Yeah, pretty much. It has those two plastic notches that keep the disc from falling out when standing vertical, but there is enough room in between the notches and the disc to make it scratch very easily if the console is nudged. It's why I keep my 360 horizontal.

i think the bigger question is, if you're going to be moving your system that much while its loading or running a disc, are you even old enough to be playing videogames?

Well, at least I'm getting some lulz out of this thread. People not being able to discern the differences between disc reading systems and acting as if all are the same...wow.

What stopped Microsoft from simply including a slot loading dvd drive? That would have prevented this issue. Plus it would look more modern.

Anecdotal experience much? The Xbox pretty much uses the exact same disc reading system as the 360...I and other have had plenty of experiences of having their Xbox scratch games because it moved. If you're going to accuse the XBox's system of being fine, then you might as well admit that the 360's is as well. :?

If you really need to worry about accidentally bumping or knocking over your console you need to re-evaluate your setup.

Where is your PS3 on the floor? Most have TV stands or I would hope its not in the middle of floor for anyone to walk into it, because you would have more problems then your PS3, how about the TV?

Yeah that is a good point. The guy in the video didn't know it would do that when picking up the system, if you have a friend over, you may forget to mention it to them and they might pick it up and admire it while a game is loading.

I usually tell my younger cousins and ignorant family members not to touch my electronics while they're in use. If they dont understand spoken word just install the game.

kids or family members? regardless of what happens whoever hits it or moves it that much it's their fault even if there 3 or 4 years old (doesn't mean they meant to do it though). That's like saying somebody's not accountable because they didn't know better. Example: kid throws 3 year old cellphone and it breaks, even if its not as designed as a better phone, its still the 3 year olds fault.

huh? my kid is already 2 years old and is very active, there are times when i play my games and he just runs into my ps3 and sometime knock it off. My tv has a stand and my PS3/xbox360 is underneath the tv and its not very high. But its okay. Ill have to discipline my son better.

I don't think there is a single disc drive on the market that won't damage a disc when it is moved... aside from perhaps laptop drives. This isn't a MS or 360 problem, but user error... and always has been.

foxhound_fox

PS2, Wii, Xbox1 don't scratch discs when being moved......they were/are on the market. I mean really, why are people even arguing this anyway? Lemmings need to stop with the damage control and just accept that their console has a cheap drive. Consoles shouldn't be moved anyway though.

The differenece is that if most cellphones survive that throw and yours breaks is because yours is not designed as good as the others so the company is in part responsible for designing a product that doesn't meet today's quality standards.

Solution:

Play your game when you are using the system and not juggle it.

Problem solved

Fanboys go to great lenghts to defend their beloved companies, even if it is in detriment of the consumers themselves. I had never understood that way of thinking, it's like the more they are screwed the more they like it.

I don't think there is a single disc drive on the market that won't damage a disc when it is moved... aside from perhaps laptop drives. This isn't a MS or 360 problem, but user error... and always has been.

PS2, Wii, Xbox1 don't scratch discs when being moved......they were on the market. I mean really, why are people even arguing this anyway? Lemmings need to stop with the damage control and just accept that their console has a cheap drive. Consoles shouldn't be moved anyway though.

you lost credibility when you said ps2 and xbox dont scratch discs when being moved. They did alot......

I'm speaking from experience. I had both. They never scratched my disks. All versions of the ps2 and one xbox.

[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="Microsoft1234"][QUOTE="stayhigh1"] If you have kids or family members that know about it then your screwed..The old 360 cause scratches too but it didn't cause this much damage ..Its like Microsoft take a step backwards..I bet you its going to RROD twice as fast compared to the old 360.. Quote me on that..

kids or family members? regardless of what happens whoever hits it or moves it that much it's their fault even if there 3 or 4 years old (doesn't mean they meant to do it though). That's like saying somebody's not accountable because they didn't know better. Example: kid throws 3 year old cellphone and it breaks, even if its not as designed as a better phone, its still the 3 year olds fault.

The differenece is that if most cellphones survive that throw and yours breaks is because yours is not designed as good as the others so the company is in part responsible for designing a product that doesn't meet today's quality standards.

still the 3 years old fault tho, haven't shown anything that it's not. And I'm not arguing 360s design is great, but saying its a big detriment that it can *gasp* scratch discs when you pick it up and its running is hardly this newsworthy.

Should it be placed horizontally or vertically?LastRambo341

At a 40º-60º angle, this should give you optimal disk scratches.

I hear the new Xbox 360s also get messed up if you spill soda on them. Like epic fail on Microsoft for not protecting our consoles from that damage.

Year 2010 right now, MS knew how disc scratching was a big issue before, you expect them to do something about it, i mean common.

if you're speaking from experience then why say it that ps2 wii and xbox can't scratch discs because they definitely can, your experience doesn't equate to everyones. they both would scratch it a little if moved as much as the vid posted did.
