What's wrong with half life on consoles? You don't even have to deal with that steamworks crap on 360 or ps3...

1. Inferior versions. 2. STEAM is on PS3. 3. In what way STEAM is crap?

NO MODS, NO HAMMER EDITOR, NO HL2 DEATHMATCH

Seriously, how can someone live without Hammer Editor? It's so much fun making custom levels.

I thought ravenholm was quite scary, but i was a lot younger when i first played it.

I actually started playing through HL2 again the other day in co-op (synergy mod - check it out on steam)

It's not really meant to be scary.

Trying to get the achievement for making it through Ravenholm only using the Gravity Gun can be quite nerve racking. Especially once the zombies start attacking.

Yeah the beach part with the antlions can drag out. You were so close to Nova Prospekt though, and that area has some really good battles in it. Especially the last stand type battles. Where you have to defend your position. If you can still do it, you should check out the prison.

If each chapter lasted 5-10 minutes less then Half Life 2 would be near perfect.

Half Life 1, however, is perfect 3545895097.gif

No, not even Ravenholm. That just had some great atmosphere. Half-Life 1 was intended to be creepy though. Whether it was successful at it or not is down to the player.

[QUOTE="call_of_duty_10"][QUOTE="faizan_faizan"][QUOTE="call_of_duty_10"] Again,I have not played console version,so please correct me if I am wrong.I believe that the 360 version runs at max settings. In fact,it had hdr (I think it was hdr...But it could have been something else)right from the beginning, but valve took a lot of time to add that feature in the pc version via patch. Performance..Doesn't the 360 version run at 60fps? M&KB,sure.I guess that's an advantage for everyone who prefers that medium of control.

Why are you defending a game's version that you haven't even played? Graphics will always be better on PC. I do remember there was a poor level of detail bias in the X360 version and it had a lot of aliasing. Plus AA and AF. Don't know about the frame rate though.

I am not 'defending' anything. I wish to know why you are criticising the console version.Your comment suggests that there are many blunders in the console version, but that is in fact not true. AA,AF and resolution alone do not make the PC version a quantum above the console versions

I'm not criticising anything. Originally, I just posted "lolHalfLifeonconsoles". I was implying that it's best played on PC. I am aware, but if you haven't even played the console versions, how can you suppose that it had better textures, geometry, character models etcetera? Mods, you can't argue against that.

I think Half Life 1&2 has great atmosphere throughout the entire game.

Don't know what parts of Half Life you are referring to that are supposed to be creepy. But whoever planted all those lasermines in that facility must have been a ghost :P

The part where you entered this facility with a million laser trip mines in it. No human could have place that and not be blown up.

Sounds plausible. The game already has aliens, but they are too clumsy to have placed them. Must've been alien ninjas

What parts stood out to you as creepy ?

Now that I think about it, those headcrabs that started falling out of the ceiling creeped me out as a kid.

Also this part in Black Mesa was creepy:

Yeah it was in response to acidsoldier. No laser trip mines or snarks in HL 2 :(

Though they replaced them with another cool throwable: the bug bait.

The first time I played it, which was in middle school, I was scared sh!tless when I first encountered my first headcrab. The game's depressing atmosphere was kind of overwhelming, and don't let me get started on Ravenholm.

And you got the supercharged gravity gun at the end which kinda makes up for the lack of bugbait. Half life games always had great and inventive weapons. I wonder what they will come up with next. That is a reason why I love shooters set in a fantasy universe more than modern day shooters.

Modern day shooters always have the same boring arsenal of weapons. Nothing creative, nothing that stands out.

Well, in Ep. 2

[spoiler]

They locate the Borealis, which is research vessel that was 'lost', but that ship is from rival research facility 'Aperture' (of Portal fame)
