lolHalfLifeonconsoles.faizan_faizanWhat's wrong with half life on consoles? You don't even have to deal with that steamworks crap on 360 or ps3... 1. Inferior versions. 2. STEAM is on PS3. 3. In what way STEAM is crap?
Â
NO MODS, NO HAMMER EDITOR, NO HL2 DEATHMATCH
Â
Seriously, how can someone live without Hammer Editor? It's so much fun making custom levels.
I thought ravenholm was quite scary, but i was a lot younger when i first played it.
I actually started playing through HL2 again the other day in co-op (synergy mod - check it out on steam)
It's not really meant to be scary.
Trying to get the achievement for making it through Ravenholm only using the Gravity Gun can be quite nerve racking. Especially once the zombies start attacking.
i got that achievement on the 360 and the computer but still haven't beat the game it just drags on so much ravenholm is GREAT thoIt's not really meant to be scary.

What part(s) did you stop at?

Yeah the beach part with the antlions can drag out. You were so close to Nova Prospekt though, and that area has some really good battles in it. Especially the last stand type battles. Where you have to defend your position. If you can still do it, you should check out the prison.
If each chapter lasted 5-10 minutes less then Half Life 2 would be near perfect.
Â
Half Life 1, however, is perfectÂ
Jandurin, it's Half Life 2 Nothing of value is gained from playing that game to the finish. jg4xchamp
Â
You what?, HL2 is like one of the best games ever made.

"giant bad guy facility" Uhh, you mean Nova Prospekt? Yeah, you won't enjoy the game unless you actually pay attention.

oh sorry i don't know the names of all of your fantasy locations gosh i am really seriously chagrined here omg guys stfu noobNo, not even Ravenholm. That just had some great atmosphere. Half-Life 1 was intended to be creepy though. Whether it was successful at it or not is down to the player.AcidSoldner
I think Half Life 1&2 has great atmosphere throughout the entire game.
Don't know what parts of Half Life you are referring to that are supposed to be creepy. But whoever planted all those lasermines in that facility must have been a ghost :P

In which part of the game?
In which part of the game?R4gn4r0k
The part where you entered this facility with a million laser trip mines in it. No human could have place that and not be blown up.

I can't remember.Don't know what parts of Half Life you are referring to that are supposed to be creepy. But whoever planted all those lasermines in that facility must have been a ghost :PR4gn4r0kAll I'm saying is that it was Valve's intention for Half-Life 1 to be creepy.
I can't remember.faizan_faizan
It's on the surface tension part
does this ring a bell ?

What parts stood out to you as creepy ?
Now that I think about it, those headcrabs that started falling out of the ceiling creeped me out as a kid.Â
Also this part in Black Mesa was creepy:

Wait, you were talking about Half Life 1? I thought you meant Half Life 2.My bad.
The only fear I experienced was picking up the game months after I had played it last and I couldn't remember which direction to go in one of those long ass driving bits. FastEddie2121god i know that feel one of the scariest moments in gaming

Yeah it was in response to acidsoldier. No laser trip mines or snarks in HL 2 :(
Though they replaced them with another cool throwable:Â the bug bait.
Bug bait was awesome and I was sad to see it gone after Nova Prospekt. Its terrible AI and shooting mechanics sure were scary. ShoulderOfOrionDamn, you weebols cant detect a good game when they smack you in the face... HL2 is one of the greatest games ever made.
Hmm.. some parts. Ravenholm scares me.freedomfreak
I remember playing the demo like a thousand times, and I could 'snipe' those runners with the magnum from anywhereÂ
Gordon Lyman's the name

And you got the supercharged gravity gun at the end which kinda makes up for the lack of bugbait. Half life games always had great and inventive weapons. I wonder what they will come up with next. That is a reason why I love shooters set in a fantasy universe more than modern day shooters.
Modern day shooters always have the same boring arsenal of weapons. Nothing creative, nothing that stands out.

Well, in Ep. 2
They locate the Borealis, which is research vessel that was 'lost', but that ship is from rival research facility 'Aperture' (of Portal fame)
I'd love to see some cross-over with thatÂ
