Was Skyrim the best RPG of 7th gen?

Not really a fair fight. Heartgold/Soulsilver are better than most games in general.

I would like The Elder Scrolls games a whole lot more if they would just stop making them RPGs. Bethesda should just remove the leveling system entirely and work from there on making a good action game. They create awesome worlds, but the game they put into those worlds just sucks.

The Witcher 2, Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins exist, so no. Great game though.

It was probably the glitchiest/buggiest game I have ever played. But it was very fun. I'm currently replaying it for the 2nd time since its release with a ton of mods installed. Those mods really do turn Skyrim into a much better game. Maybe not the best RPG of the 7th gen, there were a lot of awesome RPG's, but some of the best among them.

It wasn't even the best Elder Scrolls game of the 7th gen, which is quite the feat on Bethesda's part considering how many problems Oblivion had.

Witcher, Mass Effect, Ni No Kuni, Dark Souls/Demons Souls are up there at the top alongside Skyrim.
Any one of these is fine.
Looking forward to Mass Effect 4 and Witcher 3 :D

I was trying to think what i would consider the best RPG... honestly i think fable 2 was my favorite RPG of last gen as well. Its weird because i wasnt a huge fan of the first fable, and fable 3 I didnt find all that great. And there are so many RPGs that on paper seem vastly superior. But when I think back to the many RPGs ive played (as its probably my favorite genre) I honestly think I had the most amount of sheer enjoyment playing fable 2. It was just charming as all hell, and i loved every minute of it.
