We did last gen;

Particularly the first one. It strikes me as very similar to LOST, although you may not catch it. But I found it to be, ranging from how the story is told (non linear, jumping all over the place), the subject matter, the way scenes unfolded (the kinds of things that happened and how the scenes were shot), the emphasis on struggle, the way the music was handled ... Very similar imo.

Edit: Another aspect that's similar is how the characters are thrown into a struggle for survival and as you go through the story you are given more information on their past, and the informaiton on their past relates to their actions in the present.

hakanakumono

If anything Forbidden Siren was worse for the kinds of things Lost is always being criticized for, like a hard to follow narrative and a glut of unanswered questions. Because of the game being told in an unchronological order and all the backstory being told via the (largely missable) archive it could be very impenetrable at times, through very much worth it in the end. The link navigator was a fantastic invention, part of the fun for me of playing Siren and it's sequel was trying to figure out how everything fit together.

Probably because there's no game in the world that's just satisfied with leaving a horrible mess of unfinished plot elements behind at each game's "conclusion"instead of actually resolving them.

GreenGoblin2099

Lol Lost haters. The last season only started some hours ago, im sure many questions will be answered in season 6. And it wouldnt be fun to reveal everything in previous seasons would it? I liked the way the answered some questions in previous season, with even more questions. Yeah i know im crazy. But the hatch mystery was awsome. I think it was totally unexpected, no way anyone would have guessed what would be inside the hatch. I liked the way they answered what is inside the hatch and at same time it raised even more questions. What would be the fun of it, if it was all answered there?

I'm not a hater... I've actually watched all Lost seasons so far, and I intend on continue doing so 'til the end... but some of these mysteries are completely (how should I put it??) idiotic?? Again, I'm not a hater but even I admit some of these "mystery" elements cross the line and become really absurd.

What mysteries? Yeah some things sure start to not make any sense, and the time travel plot twist was kinda lame, altough i ended up liking it.

Sorry, I stopped watching Lost after the first polar bear...

Ross_the_Boss6

Actually there's a perfectly good explanation for that. But you wouldn't know because your one of those people.

People who have different opinions from you about a TV show? Yip, you got me.

It failed to hook me. In nothing that I've seen of it since that first episode has it managed to hook me, no matter how, convoluted, I mean mysterious, it tries to be. It's hardly the pinnacle of television, so I don't feel any particular desire for games to try and emulate it.

The final premiere was really good. Anyways, I would like to see a game that's as mysterious as Lost is. However, I don't think there would be a broad audience for the title..

What mysteries?? Well, you just said time travel which was the first thing to pop up in my head... the fog monster, the moving island, the cursed numbers, Locke being dead but not dead.

Although I'm not saying these thing won't ever have an explanation (I hope they do or I'll kill some of the show writters) they seem quiet stupid for me atm. If they manage to pull it off, I'll admit the awesomeness in the story writting... but if they fail at it, well let's just say that I might end up in jail lol.

And honestly, Lost is really easy to follow. People just let all the unanswered questions scare them. Nothing in the season premiere of season 6 surprised me. It was all pretty obvious looking back at the information given. It also helped knowing Lost has...

The fog monster is an awsome mystery, altough i have a theory on what i could be, i hope im wrong. And im sure all of those will be answered. Dunno about the numbers, cause they were never meant to be part of the plot. People liked a lot about the numbers idea so they continued to use them. This might have been an hughe mistake on their part.

I just read an interview that was JUST BARELY done, and he said the numbers would be resolved this season to the point of how it affects the characters. They also said Libby would not return, but guess what? She is. So, you don't know a thing about Lost.

I got really bored of Bioshock, i cant really get into it again. And i tried many times already. The story is interesting, but it bores me. Especially reading/listenning all thse diaries. I still prefer cutscenes as a way to tell the story. And the concept of bioshock isnt original at all. Rapture is just another Atlantis of the modern days.

VG stories are so damn better and never use these elements right? Now that i think about it, FFX story was great and original, SPOILERS for FFX they made you believe the whole game that there was time travel, but in the end there wasnt.

Season 6 is here, YEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Anyway, im talking about a good and mysterious story. With a great plot and characters and maybe some deep meanings and phylosophical guestions. Video games are also a good way to tell a good story, and it certanly has some advantages over books and movies.

But thers nothing like it, 99% of video games stories are always the same crap. Cant they hire some good writters for the story?

Most video games stories are predictable. I want something like Lost, you never know whats goona happen next. Thers no suspense in video games.

Also good and original characters and villians. A villian like Ben would be great and original. Even in season 6 you still have no idea if hes the good or the bad guy. Hes very mysterious. The first i saw that small guy, i had no idea of how important he would be. Appereance can really be misleading. The guy is even kinda badass, even tough he looks like a normal guy, he even knows martial arts. I would never have guessed he would be like this.

We need more villians like this. Usually in games they try too hard to be memorable and badass.

Anyone that watches Lost know what im talking about.

Thing is, if the gameplay sucks, the story will not save a game... no matter WHAT. That's the difference between games and movies/shows... story vs gameplay.

Lol I'm probably gonna get made fun of for this but, does anyone else find it really hard to keep up with LOST's plot?

I was able to follow lost really well up until around 2 seasons ago, when they started doing the month long periods without doing new episodes, I just kinda gave up on the series after that.

It's called "dvd" and you can buy/rent them. No commercials, episode after episode... good to go!

I'm not spending money on a game that relies on pretentious plot elements that are made up on the go.

Uhhh...Lost was a complete story before they ever shot a single scene. That is why it is so good. JJ Abrams wanted to end it in season 5, and ABC asked him to stretchit out into a sixth season.

Most overrated tv show of all time imo.

Crysis setting reminded me of lost a bit.

The cheese and bad acting in Lost is just to much at times. Good idea and setting but executed bad imo.

Risen on PC also reminded me of it a little bit (the begining.. ending up on the beach of this crazy island,etc..)

Yeah, I'd freaking love a videogame series where by the fifth game they still have unanswered questions from the first one...

And the reason they'll go unanswered is that the producers have no idea where the hell they're going. Yerp, that's high quality stuff right thar. Can't wait for a game with the same **** to come out.

I assume you are referring to Mass Effect. That is an excellent example of a good story in a video game.

LMAO  And even if it was good, its stil the same old Sci Fi story. Man if you dont watch Lost thers no way your gonna understand what im talking about.

I'm there with you, bro. I love Lost. Easily the most well-written show ever. My mom is a literature professor that doesn't watch tv, and she is a Lost addict. It does take a little patience, intelligence, and a good attention span, but it is worth it. Most people don't want to put the effort into following it, but the payoff totally worth it.

A game with a lot of plot twists that make you go WTF and that not everybody gets to understand?? Try MGS2 ;)

Plot twists isnt really the word. Its more suspense, and the way it creates many theories on all the mysteries. Thers no game like that.

Probably because there's no game in the world that's just satisfied with leaving a horrible mess of unfinished plot elements behind at each game's "conclusion"instead of actually resolving them.

You obviously don't watch Lost. 90% of the questions from the first 5 seasons have been answered. There are only a few big ones left.
