It seems that most people on these forums are so hypocritical.

The same person will argue that "OMG Wii is for such casuals and only has party games" and then there next post will be...

"I dont want to sit infront of a computer monitor I want to sit on my sofa with my friends playing games"

WHAT????

So your not a hardcore gamer and not a casual just inbetween or are you a hypocrite?

See in the end the computer that you are using to roam these boards as we speak is probably owned by your parents or was given to you by your parents.

 OR

If you bought it yourself you should have realized before you bought it that you can buy a gaming PC for 600-800 dollars. Which is a great price for a PC.  Seeing as though a PC can do more then just play games.

But I'm sure most of you are on your parents computers and enjoy telling everyone how "rough and tough" a person must be to be a Halo fanboy and that "hey dude you dont like Halo 3?, well then you can't be in the Cool Club.  Only the coolest of fellows can join the Club and if you dont like Halo no dice to you dude because Halo is the baddest and first ever FPS"

The thing is, you don't need to own a gaming PC, most homes already have PC's, with $300 you can buy a mid/high end video card that can already surpass 360 graphics.

agreed. The PC bashing on system wars can get pretty bad and stupid, but the TC usually gets owned though.

No need to bash the PC anymore. Doom 3, and the last great game they ever had was Counter-Strike. Also, Console has been winning the war since 1985. Even when Doom/Duke Nukem hype hit mainstream, it still couldn't win. What more ownage is that? PC gaming was on life support a long time ago.

None taken. I can safely say everything I said in that post is factual with the exception of Counter-strike was the last best game.

Im not gonna bash PC games as I was in the top leagues on Medal of Honor SpearHead for pc...Here is where my problems lie with pc gaming...

1...You cant really have friends over and play together splitscreen/coop fun games.

2...When you save your games, its hard to keep your saves from format to format of your hdd and its just not as easy ..TO ME..

3...Every game has different specs that your system has to meet or you take a risk of not getting full visual affects.

4...Consoles are totally PLUG N PLAY...I like to be able to pop a game in and go, not having to worry with installing patches, or updating my graphics card drivers, or tweeking this or that...

5...I LOVE my controller...FACT...I love it. I have been a console gamer since 1980. I have 15 consoles and everyone of them has a controller...I LOVE THEM...Even though I mastered the k/m durring my Medal of Honor days I just love my constroller.

6...I know you can hook a controller up PC , but there you go...having to install a program for it to work, and drivers and configuring all the buttons...I like a console that has all that done for me and also gives a few different choices of the configurations....

These are just a few things that come to mind. I love my pc and im on it all the time...music, movies, downloads, pictures, email, messanger ...ect...ect.... But my gaming is done with my consoles.

About the "for the price of a X360 or PS3, you can just buy a graphics card to make your PC a good gaming machine" retort, you have to consider the rest of the system. For instance, the PC I'm typing this out on, which happens to be the best at my disposal right now: -AMD Athlon XP 1800+ -512 MB DDR-266 (2x256 MB, single-channel) -4x AGP slot (currently occupied by an ATI Radeon 9600 XT, 128 MB) -Creative SoundBlaster Live! Value -60 GB 5,400 RPM IDE/PATA HDD -Windows XP Home Edition SP2 Stuffing a high-end AGP card in this thing would be a waste given the pitiful CPU and RAM. You'd need to replace the ENTIRE SYSTEM to get something capable of running modern games at any worthy framerate, which ought to be around 800 US$ at the very least(and that's stretching it-I'd expect something more like 1500 US$). I may believe that PC gaming is the best, but I won't deny its biggest fault-it's EXPENSIVE.

PS2 won last gen base on sales. PS1 won the gen before. Nintendo won the gen before that. However, when it comes to PC you don't win by sales, it goes by AAA games rated on Gamespot. sales are proving data that can be factual statements. Ratings are nothing more then a personal preference of a game. I gave nothing but factual statments about how PC is dead last since 1985, and will continue to be so. Also, in theory if it's PC vs. Console wouldn't the AAA count be...

PC = 69
Console = 126

So Consoles are easier to play?

Just Pick up and play correct?

So its more Casual and easy going?

So its more for casual gamers?

Installation "hassle"?

You mean clicking "next" until the game is installed?

And removing one video card and then jamming in another?

And the increased performance from having the game installed on the hard drive instead of having to read it all directly from the disc?

Its not rocket science...

 Another Weak Point.  I guess I'll be typing all night.

Well if you want to do it that way my 800 dollar computer looks cheap compared to your 6 systems that cost you $2,000+ at launch and you can only play games.

So your talking about Sales.  So your saying more gaming consoles are sold per year then PCs.  Good joke.

the only major flaw I find in your argument is that Pc gaming is on life support. It is not dieing.Plus the NPD numbers don't count subscriptions and downloads like Steam. Pc gaming is not dieing, actually it has been rising recently.

1. True, but we Pc gamers had online for a longer period of time, and it is generally better too. Like we can have up to 64 people in bf2, and with my friends we set up lan mathces or we set up game nights which doesn't bother us at all.

2. I do not understand

3. I usually get the best bang for the buck parts, oc them and it can run anything on full. Save up some money, then in like 2-3 years upgrade again.

4. Doesn't really bother me, plus I like playin around with the pc. I can understand how other people would find that a hassle though

5. To each there own. I like mouse and keyboard for most stuff but racing and sports

6. Not that big a deal to me. Just install the driver disk, configure a few stuff, done

PC = 69
Console = 126

Actually, some of those console games would be double ups.
And about your factual statement, PC gaming is not on life support. To be on life support, you'd have to have few titles coming out for the system, and developers not looking at it anymore. Look at this link: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=24525221

It is UNDENIABLE, PC gaming is still thriving, or many of those wouldn't be exclusive. You are wrong. It is not on life support. That is fact. Not opinion. Fact. You don't have to like PC gaming, but it is a fact it is still a thriving market.

It has the most exclusives. The most overall developer/publisher support. It has the best graphics/physics/AI. It has an abundance of almost every genre in existence, and some console gaming never gets. Most PC games never see ports. Everything I just said was a fact. Stop with your nonsense bashing. You are wrong.

ah...but you forget that hermits think they are more intellegent than console gamers, which is why they ignore all the facts about installing hassle and upgrading rather than accepting it as a major turn-off in PC gaming.

Installation "hassle"?

You mean clicking "next" until the game is installed?

And removing one video card and then jamming in another?

And the increased performance from having the game installed on the hard drive instead of having to read it all directly from the disc?

Its not rocket science...

t3hTwinky

so your calling me stupid...

i meant more in terms of upgrading your processor which is inevitable. maybe installing a graphics card isnt very hard, but theres still the hassle of having to buy one.

Good joke.

Being the cheapest doesn't justify that you won. More gaming consoles are sold than gaming PCs. Why do you want to play that game? You making you argument look weak. Also, I don't know if you know this, but the PS3 can do just about anything the PC can.

Ok Mark, I'm just saying.... Installing for example, you sit down, you put the game in the DVD drive, press next until the game begins to be installed, wait a few minutes and you're done, what's the hassle in that?

How bout buying the upgrades, you go to the store and pick up the hardware you want and that's it.

I understand that some people might see it as a hassle but dude, in reality it's all very easy.

It's not only me that's saying it's on life support. Epic also said it.

 Epic is not a final judgement, they're one company, and last time I checked, almost all of their games are on the PC anyway, so until they stop making games for the PC, it's obviously still a highly profitable market for them. There are so many developers who work with the PC, many exclusively, that would JUMP at the chance to replace Epic in the PC gaming scene. I forgot to mention PC gaming continues to dominate emerging and inevitably HUGE gaming markets China and Korea. PC gaming may not outsell consoles, but that is far from death. The fact that they have more development support shows that the sales of consoles means only so-so for many developers. They obviously do not care.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that was just one man, and Valve, long time PC developer had one man say the PS3 is a total disaster. That doesn't make it true, in any way.

I built my computer all by myself, and I'm a noob when it comes to PC stuff. I've been Macintosh all my life born and bread.

It was not hard at all, and was relativly cheap. And most importantly it was DEFINITLY worth it. I'm a converted hermit.

This is nonsense since you don't need a gaming PC to play PC games. ALL PCs have the potential to play PC games and some PC games don't need specialized video cards to play them. You do realize that the casual games market existed YEARS before the Wii? My mom has been playing casual games on her PCs since the early 90's..

Many of the aaa games in that number are availabe on two or three consoles, so the same game were counted twice, or maybe even three times.

Dude, please. PC's will outlast console gaming if it ever came down to it. As long as there is a PC in your home, somebody will make a game to play on it. And PCs aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Do you know why MS really made the XBOX? Not because they want the money all that bad - they would like it, but considering the XBOX line of products has never made them a profit to date, making a profit certainly hasn't been their first concern. So, you want to know then? Here goes.

MS got into the console market because they recognized consoles as a serious long term threat their home PC OS and general software market... Why? Because of Sony's dominance. A huge company that uses their own software for the most part making progressively more advanced, cheap set top boxes that hook into a TV. MS saw the writing on the wall a long time ago - for the casual user, this was going to eventually take a TREMENDOUS chunk out of the home PC market.

Think about it - what happens one or two gens from now when consoles run, as a matter of course, the applications which most people use their PCs for now. Web browsing, e-mail, word processing... If all of the sudden, consoles start to do these things, and they continue to cost significantly less than PCs, people WILL buy fewer PCs. Sooner or later, they may even figure out that they don't need one of those hassle ridden machines for their home, and rather just need one for work.

MS got into the console business because they saw Sony chopping the legs off their PC software market if they didn't. The XBOX isn't just a cash grab, it's a long term defensive measure, and an attempt to grab a piece of an entirely new pie that threatens the home PC market. If you really think that consoles don't stand to infringe *HEAVILY* onto the bulk of the home PC audience, you're deluding yourself.

Oh Lord... I just stood up for something shungokustasu said... /shootself
