I went through 1 ps3 and I know many people that went through 8 of them...I can do it too :P
In reality rebuys are a non question not with the 3 year warranty.
[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] Actually the link says 54% for 360 and 10% for PS3.kuraimen
both of which are ridiculously high.
Yep but not surprising considering the quality of electronic products in this day and age. Almost everything releases in a beta stage. Most of my other electronics last years. I skateboard with psp and still get 2-3 years out of it.[QUOTE="Zophar87"]What about those people who bought a 360 for the dvd player. Lol @ dvds. I can't think of a single person who's come into my store and bought a 360 for it's DVD player and I've worked there since long before the 360 launch.

Im sure you sold every 360 ever made and im sure you ask them in depth questions LOL. Does a 54% fail rate hurt you? Did i strike a nerve?Yeah, it did. Let me go cry over the fact that my 360 is my least-played system.
[QUOTE="Firstinstimct"][QUOTE="_Matt_"]3-5% ylod vs 40-54% rrod. more like 10-15 percent ylod vrs 3-5 percent rrod. u see what i did there . and i have no proof :) . this is sw so the actual numbers is no sony product broke down ever in the history of ever and rrod is at eleventy billions percent.Yes they will be inflated, but so will PS3 sales because of YLOD (admittedly, not as much, but there is no way to measure that, so just ignore both)

PS3 sales as well, i had to buy an Slim just because my 60GB died a few months ago.
The Wii, now that's impressive, if it were as faulty as the twins, maybe the sales would be like 150 millions or something, but no, that little one doesn't die as easily.

How about all those people who bought PS3s for Blu-ray? =oStevo_the_gameryeah ! all those sales receipts should have an asterik on them saying ... "*just for Blu-Ray"
Bought 360 premium system a few months after it's release...RROD in one week.
Bought PS3 60 gig launch system...YLOD after 4 years.
My point...who gives a monkeys ass if Microsoft sold millions of their 360 systems...their hardware sucked this gen, and I will never go back. I played my 60 gig every day, and also used it for blu-rays. So Idon't mindif Sony had a very small percentage of hardware failure through the life span of it's PS3...it was still the better hardware to purchase...oh yeah the exclusives were great as well.

yeah ! all those sales receipts should have an asterik on them saying ... "*just for Blu-Ray"rasengan2552
The PS3 was first and foremost a games console. It's relatively cheap price in comparison to Blu-Ray players at the time, really bolstered the secondary capability.
Regardless, what Stevo's point brings up, is that we do not know numbers for the amount of 360's purchased due to a RROD 360, nor the amount of PS3's bought as solely a Blu-Ray player. With things like the 3-year warranty in place, it also undermines much of the "re-buying due to RROD" argument.

4 years for this gens hardware is acceptable when considering how hard it was used...1 week is not. I know ppl with launch 60 gigs that are still running fine...however I don't know anyone who's still using their launch 360's.

im still on my first 360 with no issues so i take your word with a grain of salt . I had a Falcon version for four years until about a month ago before upgrading. I had zero problems other than the 60 gig hardrive being too small. The console itself was in great shape.Hvane't we all been through this before on SW?
That was a rhetorical question, I know we have, but still
That warranty was useless in many countries and many people bought another console rather than getting a refurbished one that basically ended up breaking again.I went through 1 ps3 and I know many people that went through 8 of them...I can do it too :P
In reality rebuys are a non question not with the 3 year warranty.

4 years are you kidding me? I have a pc from 1993 that still works perfectly that has been on way longer than a 360. Hardware should live like 20 years at least. That's why I love pc, lifetime warranty for a lot of my parts. I rma then like 5 years later, bam maybe an upgrade.

That warranty was useless in many countries and many people bought another console rather than getting a refurbished one that basically ended up breaking again. Well the warranty wasn't useless in the 3 biggest markets, you know, where they actually soldYeah all original 360s die. I have a launch one that RROD'd, last month. It is out of warranty... wtf no lifetime is some real crap. So I am going to take the mobo out and bake it in an oven, and then use the x clamp fix on this one. Should get another year out of it, like hell am I going to buy another one.JigglyWiggly_so 6 years for a console isn't enough? Then you probably never owned one of the original PS2s or PS3s. You know, with the bas lasers on the PS3 and all those DRE errors on the PS2s

MS counts the 360s that are given away for free with laptops. That plus RRoD is the only reason MS is still slightly ahead. PS3 will overtake it next year.

Sony counts all the ones they give away free with Sony TVs, so what?
Lot's of PS3s were sold to replace the YLoD ones, and bad Laser ones that were not covered after the 1 year warranty ran out...so what?
Lot's of people also bought PS3s to use only as a Blu-ray player...should these not count?
