What are the most disappointing games you've played this year?

Mass Effect 3. Like I dunno if any of you remember from when I posted more, but I absolutely adored that series and they ruined it for me. The sad thing is, as Slashkice said above, I really did have fun with it... and then the ending happened. Bleh.

Really? The beta is so much fun. I was super addicted to it for a while, only taking a break now for Dishonored and exams.

So many votes for two of my favourite games this year, ME 3 and Max Payne 3. People put way too much stock on the ending of ME3, the rest of the game was fantastic. I for one don't play games so that I can have fond memories of them, but rather for escapism and enjoyment while I play them. The ending is inconsequential. I'm not going to let 5 minutes of contrived writing ruin a great 25 hour experience.

I can understand why some people don't like Max Payne 3, I just really dug the story, writing and general style of the game.

Dark Souls easily was the most disappointing game for me. Once I got past the frustration and difficulty I found lying beneath a dull, ugly and repetitive action game with bad controls.

Was also disappointed with Spec Ops, it was getting a lot of praise but the gameplay was pretty bad. I played for a couple hours, put it down and haven't had any desire to resume.

Mass Effect 3- bad ending & lame squad for the most part are probably my two biggest gripes- still a great game, I guess after ME and ME2 becoming 2 of my favorite games ever I was bound to be disappointed.

Deus Ex Human Revolution- gonna give it another try but I did not enjoy my 1st experience.

MGS Peace Walker- Some people argued that this is the best MGS ever. I think it might be the worst (atleast when you take in to account when it was released) Horrible story, not much special gameplay wise. Didn't really get into the base building/ management wish they put more effort into other things.

AC Revelations- felt unnecessary, hated the Altair sections, the sci fi/ Desmond/modern storyline continues to be really stupid

Inquisitor, a RPG with beautiful graphics, great design to some of its environments, a very interesting, unique story and wonderful atmosphere (feels like Diablo I, which is very different from II & III).

Completely dissapointed after a few hours of its sh*tty, clunky combat, pointless dialogue (they all feel the same and oftenly repeats itself with other NPCs, which is bad wen there's mountains of text to read), abnormaly often respawn rate thus making the game more frustrating than it is already, repetitive & boring dungeons.. To bad, i wanted to like this game, but it was just to incredibly tedious.

Fallout 3, the world itself is interesting and filled with hidden loot to find and great environments to explore, some of which are really atmospheric.

Completely dissapointed by the lore which was butchered to death, horrible dialogues because of which a lot of the characters felt retarded, overall awful writting, the level scaling which made some of the skills barely matter.. They should have just made a new IP instead and give the handling of Fallout to Obsidian from the get go. As a action RPG, it's actually a great game, but as a Fallout game, it's bad.

It's not weird at all if you're not egocentric, which a lot of gamers are from what i've seen.

Brink, though looking back at it now, I'm probably not supposed to treat it like an Enemy Territory game.

Also, Arkham City but mainly because of how badly optimized the game is, especially if you've played Arkham Asylum PC.

It would have been Game of the Year Material if it wasn't for that Ending.

Sadly it will be.

I didn't play anything really new this year, but if there was anything CLOSE (keyword) to being a disappointment, it's probably Manhunt 2.

It has it's heart in the right place due to it's gruesome and gritty nature, but the combat was awkward as hell.

Now iv gotta wait like 3 weeks after a game launches to see if its good or crap ....

From all I played this year I tried bayonetta again,still terrible Rented l.a noir and had fun but within 2 hours it just fell flat on it's face Max Payne 3 Ninja gaiden 3.birthday gift of tears the first two were amazing wtf happened? Dishonored.I'm enjoying it now but.the hype and few things I've seen in read,the final package is just mehalmasdeathchild

I played all the games and read all the books(until the latest book after switching authors) and it was not what I was expecting as the ending to the series. It really almost ruined the entire experience of the entire game, just goes to show how attached you can get to characters in a story.

Diablo 3 - utter garbage... after about 2 hours I kept telling myself that it will get better but it never did. Then I got hacked and I was done with it.

Uncharted 3, Soul Calibur 5, Ultimate Tenkaichi.

Diablo 3, it was fun while it lasted but it got really pointless and boring at the end. Diablo 2 was much better.

I think you are looking into what I said too much, if a game comes out that I was looking forward to and it I think it is terrible then it is still a disappointment. On the flip side if I enjoy parts of the game and but parts of it were not what I was fully expecting I can still be disappointed.

There were very few aspects that I enjoyed out of Diablo 3, for game that took so long to come out and my expectation were so high ones views can be quite dramatic.

If something, like a movie, game, or book, comes along and you don't know anything about it but you decide to purchase it that day you are able to put up with its short comings and might consider it a gem. However if you are highly anticipating something and you get it and it is not what you would expect then you critique the hell out of it. Thus what my feelings for Diablo 3 are. It is a playable game and many people do enjoy it, however for me every little thing that I didn't like irked me more and more each hour I played through until I couldn't stand it anymore(getting hacked was the final nail in the coffin, which is not a game design fault just a fault with Blizzard).

I wasn't really disappointed with The Last Story but I thought a 9.0 was a little high.

Mass Effect 3, not because of the ending, but because of the multiplayer and it's unlock lottery system.

I wasn't actually disappointed with anything this year to tell you the truth. Dishonored is so ambitious I wish it had more money behind it, same goes for Twisted Metal. It's been a good year so far.

Port Royale 3 definitly. The first two are absolutely brilliant and the same team successfully ressurected similiar series with Patrician IV last year. But Port Royale 3 is unplayable mess, terrible, absolutely terrible interface, chaotic battles, incredible ammount of bugs. I think some of those are result of the game being multiplat, but this can't be excuse for everything, especially since Tropico also went multiplat and somehow didn't implode.

This, unless you want to count Mount and Blade which I got while steam had their summer sale, that game is utter crap in a bag.

For me, definitely Max Payne 3!!Also PES 13... A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT...
