Although in it's own right a great game; ME2 but to be fair my hype was stratosphere high, the game was not what I expected after the original so here's hoping ME3 goes back to it's roots and is phenom and all will be forgiven. :P

DiRT 3. After DiRT 2 blew my mind, I assumed the third game would be even better. That is not the case. DiRT 3 was kind of lame.
Burnout Paradise. I've always been a huge fan of this series, but Paradise, while visually stunning, was awful. The sandbox layout really was not done well, at all.
Batman: Arkham Asylum. This game got amazing reviews, so I naturally assumed it would be great: I hated it. Bad story; navigating the game world is a major pain; detective mode is just not fun to use.
For a game Mercenaries 2.
For this generation overall....I'm a big MMO fan and part of the reason I bought a PS3 was because of all the MMOs that were supposed to come according to SOE. There is one real MMO (DCUO) five years after launch and its content runs out in about two weeks. The PS2 in comparison had more MMOs than that three years into its lifespan. So had I known that two years ago I never would have purchased the PS3.
First up would be Fallout 3. So much for expecting any kind of link to the first two games or even just a good game in its own right. Had all of Bethesda's usual flaws in addition to a complete butchering of what made Fallout well, Fallout.
Every Call of Duty after 4. All just endless rehashes of the same game with minor tweaks to multiplayer. Modern Warfare 2 would be the biggest offender with its completely unbalanced multiplayer that did nothing but encourage camping and waiting for killstreaks. Then of course everything else pretty much followed MW2 to the letter and with more and more ridiculous singleplayer campaigns.
The critically adored Mass Effect 2. This one I wouldn't call a bad game by any means, it just had the misfortune of following after the amazing Mass Effect. Yes the combat was slightly improved but at the expense of everything else. And even then it wasn't nearly as good as other TPSes. The writing was weaker than the first game's, the actual plot was non-existent, and the new characters aside from Mordin and maybe Legion just felt shallow and boring.
L.A. Noire had a lot of potential that I could clearly see right from the start and it was a shame how squandered it was. The game's sitting in development hell really showed. Much of the gameplay was boring and there was next to no real character development for any of the characters. Towards the end it kind of got its act together though in a jarringly action movie way.
Can't forget the disappointing Crysis 2 either. It was a solid and fun shooter with the typical 8 hour campaign. It, like Mass Effect 2 mostly suffers from not being as good as its predecessor. Much of the freedom and exploration was gone, instead replaced with the popups telling you where to go and what to do at every turn. The suit was dumbed down as well, greatly limiting creavity. And of course there's the CoD clone multiplayer.
I wasn't too terribly hyped for Final Fantasy XIII which really says something that it still disappointed me. They shoved the linearity right in your face for as long as I was able to trudge through this game. The characters, writing, combat and plot were all just bad and I ultimately gave up maybe 8 hours in. Instead I went and replayed the infinitely better Final Fantasy IX.
Last and anything but least is Dragon Age 2. This was probably my biggest disappointment of all time and certainly this generation. They did everything wrong in this game after getting nearly everything so right in Origins. The characters were awful two-dimensional cliches, the storytelling was abysmal and confusing, the plot was incoherent, the enemies dropping from the sky was laughable, the reuse of dungeons was inexcusable, the lack of locations was boring, and it was just so clearly rushed. Most reviews were incredibly kind to this game in my opinion.
That's everything that comes to mind at the moment, though I'm probably forgetting at least a few games.
No kidding right? Heck even "RPGs" have become shooters, it's annoying to say the least. My biggest disappointment this generation is how the console shooter has taken over the market. Console shooters are so boring! They're all the same game. It's sad that people actually waste money on all of those games.

Off the top of my head:
Star Wars: TFU
Dragon Age: Origins
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Gears 2
Bayonetta
DBZ: Burst Limit
Final Fantasy 13 (so many things went wrong here, easily the worst game I've played this generation).
Ace Combat Assault Horizon (I've only played the demo, which was absolutely terrible, so I can't fully judge it. But it looks like Call of Duty with planes and that sounds terrible).

Sonic Colours- Floaty jump physics gets in the way and it is one of the contributing factors of cheap deaths
burgeg
I have no patience for people that claim Sonic Colours had cheap deaths. Stop blaming the game for your own failures. You missed the jump. It's your fault. Accept it and move on. There are many Sonic games that have had cheap deaths. Like the Sonic Adventure games, Heroes, 06 and Unleashed to name a few. But I'm sorry, I have no patience whatsoever when it comes to people saying the same thing about Colours. That game was so pathetically easy and devoid of cheap deaths it's not even funny.
I for one didn't have a problem with the other Sonic games and their jump physics (except maybe for Sonic 06 and Sonic 4). Plus, it is pretty much the same criticism I had for Little Big Planet. It is obvious that the sudden change in physics does get in the way in the shorter levels. That's not being difficult, that's having bad game design.
My biggest dissapointment is the amount of people who only look at the number on the Edge review and compare it to Metacritic
Too many PC games coming to consoles. Now PC developers are also brainwashing console gamers into thinking game breaking glitches are just a part of the business, and that waiting over two weeks and counting for a patch to play a $60 game is normal.
