[QUOTE="italygamer"][QUOTE="Xeros606"] Besides the monthly sub part, I agree with him. Getting into PC gaming can be expensive if you don't already have a decent setup. And don't even bring up that $600 PC crap, those things aren't good for games 2-3 years past the day they are built.Xeros606
it all depends on WHEN you choose to build your pc. With developers building games having in mind the smallest denominator - consoles - , Pc gamers know that they'll build their rig after the consoles are released and NOT before. I built my rig in 2007, I know that it will last until the end of this gen, which is probablygonna be another 5 years of no additional costs and upgrades for me ;)
I paid around 800$ almost 3 years ago. for what pc offers, with Steam and freedom of choosing the right accessories for you, I can safely say that Pc gaming is cheaper than console's.
An $800 PC from 2007 is gonna run games up to 2015. Sorry, but that just sounds like bull**** to me. Without upgrades, any PC from 2003 (that's about the middle of the last console gen) is gonna have problems with any games from this gen. You might get to run new releases well for another year or two before you start to feel the burn.I'm sorry, but my 8800 is fine and my cpu too. I may not max all the games out, but I have zero interest in doing so. Mass Effect 2 is probably the best game released for Pc in 2010 so far and on my almost 3 year old Pc it runs flawlessly. if some games turn out to be crappy lously optimized ports, then it's not my rig's fault. Again, if my vcard does not support dx11 I could not care less. even if my rig was to last another 3 years, that'd be perfectly fine. I always tell people to upgrade when they need to, not when their rig is starting to not max all the games out.
2003 Pc's are gonna have probs with any games from this gen? who said otherwise? did the current gen consoles ger released in 2003? I built mine 2 years after the release of the xbox 360 and I don't think I'm really gonna need to build a new one before the end of this gen. it'd be stupid, considering that you can just wait for the next gen to roll in and then build a new gaming rig accordingly. That's my opinion
