Some companies have AMAZING DLC deals, gears with all fronts (19 maps and a deleted chapter, thats $1 an item), GTA with the episodes, others have very meh content(Mass Effect) or content I refuse to support (1st day map packs)

Who are these costumers? Is that like Nite Owl and The Comedian or something? Also why are they ruining this industry. Damn those costumers.

Mixed feelings.

I don't mind paying for extra content that a dev puts out to keep a game interesting for longer. The DLC for GTA4, Fallout 3, and Oblivion all look like decent additions for people that aren't ready to shelve their game just yet. And RockBand's DLC is godly. I definitely see high value there.

I DO mind paying to unlock content that is already on my disc. EA sports has been really bad about this. And I'm sure there are others.

As long as it's well-made DLC, I don't mind helping pay the developer's bills.

i am talking abt the principle here, thank god they dun charge high for what you are calling good DLC, they are good coz they affordable, if the demand increase, the price will go up as well.

I hate what it's becomming. I gurantee, it's going to get to the point where you'll buy a full priced game, play it, and then get a message saying you need to download the last chapter fr an additional fee to see the ending.

If it's to add a couple feature to extend the lifespan after the game's been out for a while, fine. But the fact that DLC is available from day 1 (or sometimes even before the game launches) is scary. Developers shouldn't deliberately be leaving stuff out of the game just to charge us more for it.

Actually, some DLC is just plain good. They could charge $100 and it would still be good - it'd just be overpriced and good.

It just comes to this problem:

DLC is abused.

Sometimes they are overpriced, sometimes they are locked, sometimes they are taken out of a game to make a quick buck. The bad amount of DLC far outweigh the good stuff.

And I don't agree with this poll. Why would anyone generalize all DLC as "I want it on my disc day one"? DLC is a great way to add to a game far after games have already been created.

I am personally thrilled for the Water DLC in LittleBigPlanet for example.

DLC day one for COD MW2 on the other hand really has me facepalming DLC.

Again, it seems that there has been so much bad DLC that it has ruined its image, but I think there's a ton of good add ons out there that really add so much more value to a game.

I depends on what kind of DLC it is.

If it could have been included in the disk, but they keep it off and charge for it, I Hate it.

If it expands the fun and content of the game, I like it and I'll pay for it.

I like the idea of it, but... I think its too expensive, $10 for another 2 to 3 hours of play or $6 for 2 maps is too much for me, and some devs are cutting content from the game to sell as DLC, I haven't really bought much DLC but I would if it was much cheaper

If it's worth it then yes, but it seems like developers don't understand how to give fans the best bang for their buck. For example charging me $3 per map is stupid when the full game only costs $3 per map, and it includs a full single player campaign. It's the same thing w/ single player DLC. DCL w/ 5 hours of gameplay for $10 is stupid when the $60 retail copy has 30 hours of gameplay, and has multiplayer to boot.

Also considering I buy most my games at a major discount DLC is an even worse deal. Hell I'd be paying more for the GTA expantions than I did for the whole game.

Maybe one day DLC will be worth it, but I highly doubt it seems people are buying crap left and right.

I love it.

For a few bucks you get to expand on your favourite games.

I gladly bought the CoD4 map pack and all of the Killzone 2 map packs.

when the content is ovbiously continued support developed after the games releace, or hidesight from the dev about something cool they should have had than i'm cool with it on the other note if its obviously a rip off or a "code" to get content on disk they want money to unlock, i'm opposed

I don't like the direction it's heading to. Look at GTA4. The city is less filled out than it could be because you're supposed to buy the extra content to make it more of a lively place. Games should be fully finished from day one, and I think that is better not just from a financial standpoint. Artifically pasting onto the original game will mean a splintered and disjointed game world vs. a more well thought out and cohesive one. Oh, and it's looking like this means we won't be getting any other GTA games this gen since Rockstar just will make more DLC for the same game I got tired of months ago.

For $60 + tax a game should have all the content on the disc unless it's a game like RB or GH for extra songs etc.

COD4 had what 15 maps online? That's a lot yet I ended up getting bored of them after awhile so it was nice of IW to release 4 new maps to try and make things feel a little more fresh.

It really depends. I don't mind Halo 3's dlc because they are maps, they freshen up the experience and they don't come out ever month. But I can't stand it when games get a map pack a month after release, Like Gears 2 or CoD WaW, I hate it even more when there is day 1 DLC.

If the DLC is of a high quality, that provides an adequate expansion onto a game for a reasonable price then great (i.e GTA LOD). If you on the other hand, you have to pay half the amount and in return get a few maps to twiddle with than not so great (i.e basically any map pack only)...

depends what the dlc is. maps, horse armour, costumes or unlocking content on the disk e.g. madden = very bad. brand new content that could be classified as a full game like gta bogt and lost and the damned = good i think extra content can be good if done properly, mass effect dlc although i haven't got it looked weak, and should be free or used in mass effect 2. map dlc i think sucks as it is essential to keeping the community, and releasing a new map pack every couple of months alienates some of the community. maps should be free it won't take them long to make and it keeps more people playing their game.

It depends, I won't pay for costumes and stuff like that, but for new maps I will because playing the same maps over and over get tedious over a while, however my gripe is that once there are new maps it takes a while for them to show up on servers because not everyone has them, I'm looking at you Killzone 2, but other than first person shooters, some RPGs have whole new story missions to add to the experience, is it expensive? Yeah, but if you're getting your money's worth and you are supporting a company that develops games you like, I don't see the harm there

Also, its pathetic i find it aswell. Ok, i have respect for maybe a few DLC's. Despite how much L&D has ****ed me around, i can see from reviews, videos etc that its a totally different game to GTA, therefore, it deserving its own release.

CAPCOM! on the other hand, are terrible. I had so much respect for them, until this gen. Making us pay for content thats already on the disc?! That's extremely low.

The way i see it. I have no issue if it couldn't be put into the final product, and is a well polished piece of DLC, like Fallout and GTA, but some companies try to exploit people so much, its beyond.

Where do people get this idea that you aren't getting the full gamein most/some cases? Some of the DLC is actually extra to what would have normally been released, not something always held back just to charge for later. :?

i disagree. if they put it on the disc for the game and its done at the end of the dev time, then you charge extra for it on top of the game then i think you're not getting the full game. RE5's mp is a good example of this, this stuff is obviously done for milking the consumers. if it continues in this direction then you'll need to pay $60 for the disc, then $10 for each level on the disc, then god forbid you get a weapon or item in the game you need to use, well they'll charge for that too "you found a life potion, if you would like to have this life potion please purchase it through live/psn for only $4.99"

i hate DLC! contents that are supposed to be in game from the start is taken out, and added later so that companies would earn more cash off their products.(my theory). charging money for aesthetics and maps...... -_-. i wouldnt mind paying for DLC if its content is atleast half of a retail game with a good pricing.
