Obviously more cool games :D

This thread is gonna be more about the trends that we currently have in gaming industry

What i want :

  • No more micro transactions OR atleast to be implemented in a right way like how Rainbow Six Siege handled it ... best case scenario would be getting rid of it, i'll remain skeptical about ppl not supporting it tho.
  • More polished and optimized games. No more broken games like Fallout 4, Batman AK, etc
  • Not having to pay 60 for a multiplayer game ! i'd pay 60 for the said game provided that they support it down the line with free stuff, not like Star Wars Battlefront ! My ideal price point for such games is 30-40$. It's fair
  • More indie games, i like the way our industry supports them, it's where the cool ideas come from
  • Supporting Kickstarter better than ever
  • Reviewers be more open and frank about mentioning the technical problems, not giving a free pass to anyone.

Now your turn !

  • New, fresh IPs.
  • Games that aren't soulless and void of creativity
  • Games that are properly QA tested prior to release
  • Gaming journalism that actually has journalistic merit
  • Gamers to stop acting like entitled little shits who feel developers and publishers owe them something

If I'm lucky, I'll get one of those five wishes fulfilled.

Well Gaming Industry....you know what you guys did in 2015?...that cool thing, whatever it is...?

Keep doing it.

Loving the gaming scene this "gen"...its awesome. Definitely the brightest star in 2015 is the Indie scene, particularly for the PC.

Less bloat. Developers need to think about

  • What is unique and interesting about our game?
  • How can we make sure every scenario adds something fresh?
  • Have we trimmed the parts that just aren't fun and/or is just a repetition?
  • Do we respect the player's time?

Secondly more focus on immersion:

  • Minmialistic HUD, or preferbly extensive customization options.
  • No stat based RPG-like upgrades.
  • Better AI, evolution of AI seems completely stuck.

Lastly respect for the player:

  • Let us figure out things on our own
  • Strong focus on core mechanics with variety, challenge, polished feel is king! Can not compensate poor mechanics with ever so much bloat or production values.

I don't give a rats ass about micro transactions unless they interfere with playing a game to completion. I agree on reviewers, I don't pay $60 and don't have to for a MP game, as TC said. Its a free market. Don't like? Don't buy. I don't like PS4's PS2 games because they are obviously digital playable versions. I bought them without the bells and whistles on PS3. I would like the option to download those vanilla versions at no charge. Obviously I wont get my wish so I wont give Sony a red cent more for GTA3, VC, SA.

Judging from the WHAT DID YOU PLAY ON 2015 thread most people here don't play enough games to complain how there isn't enough games let alone complain there are no good games when in reality there are they just refuse to play them. All I can do is recognize the reality of things, most games we spend years waiting for hardly live up to our expectations while many good games fly under thr radar and struggle to get the attention they deserve. With this in mind, I hope my fellow gamers, not the industry, but my fellow gamers and game media learn to appreciate those awesome games nobody would normally give the light of day.

Also, the NX better be a hybrid device or Nintendo's future will be taking money from Apple to make exclusives for the iPad and iPhone and Apple TV.

I wouldn't mind free games, only for me though since the devs need to make money :P.

Games here in Canada are reaching $85 before tax which is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm playing Alien Isolation and anytime I'm tempted to get annoyed or bitter I remember...hey they trust you to figure this shit out so figure it out! To me it's everything games used to be but now people are quick to complain when a game doesn't hold their hand. It's like bioshock meets dark souls. I'm sure the game could have been trimmed down a bit but considering the two parts of the name: alien and isolation, the slow tepid pace adds to the overall immersion. You are alone and there's a skilled monster hunting you down. I want to see more Alien Isolation's in 2016 and fewer everything else. I think The Witness may be the answer.

I want Nintendo to come out the gate fighting with an amazing NX console with a bunch of great first and third party titles at launch and let people see just how lazy both Sony and Microsoft where when developing their current consoles.

Have noticed the same thing myself. These AAA games have made me soft and I've become much whinier when everything is not given on a silver platter. Like you describe I sometimes have to kick myself :). I wish I could play Isolation, sounds great, but I just can't handle horror games unfortunately.

At a certain point I had to step away from the game. It can be terrifying at times because the alien is unpredictable at first but if you're paying attention you'll start to figure out his patterns. They are random but they do exist.

Beyond the great ps4 lineup and cross platform lineup that we are already getting?

I'll focus on new releases/projects starting now that will show their products and release in the upcoming years.

In order that I think of them, not in order of importance

1) I hope we get another trailer for cyberpunk 2077

2) Yakuza 6 revealed to be coming to the US next year?

3) I want matterfall to get a gameplay trailer pretty soon

4) I want playstation plus to start bringing out good games because that is 100% the reason I get playstation plus and I don't care about online at all, heck even if I had playstation plus still I'll buy a game that has a non throwaway multiplayer on pc and that takes money away from them instead of gives them money so at least with my mindset the online requirement hurts them, I do this since I don't want to be having to pay extra money to play a game and that if I don't I can't play said game.

5) Prey 2 and Star Wars 1313 to get out of cancelization even if they don't get here till 2017 or 2018.

6) Nx to be comparable with the next generation (not current ps4/xbox one) of consoles and to get tons of support from third party devs, also for nintendo to add a few more rated M games to their exclusives lineups.

7) Watch Dogs 2 to be a more complete/quality game

8) A new Max Payne revealed

9) EA to get rights back for lord of the rings to release the battle for middle earth series to steam or gog. EA to make more rts, it's literally what they are best in my opinion.

10) Show what the next ip is by SP: http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/04/22/sucker-punch-has-big-ambitions-for-new-ps4-exclusive-aims-for-jaw-dropping-character-visuals/

11) Sony Bend to reveal their ps4 project

12) Santa Monica to reveal their big game.

13) Guerrilla Cambridge to do whatever they are doing

14) Media Molecule to do a new franchise.

15) SCE Studio Liverpool was working on 2 games, one was a wipeout and the other I forgot, they were planned to be ps4 launch titles, It'd be nice if these projects were passed on to external devs through XDev.

16) Is it about time that we start to hear about Shinji Mikami's next project or a second The Evil Within? Maybe an e3 reveal for something like this or something? It was one of the more popular horror games as far as sales and it was well received by reviewers/the masses, albeit it was slightly underappreciated. I for one would like The Evil Within 2 or whatever he wants to make.

17) Supergiant Games (bastion and transistor) to reveal something this year? The gap between Bastion and Transistor was 3 years (2011 to 2014) so it'd be reasonable to have something to show this year.

18) New Viewtiful Joe revealed ;)

19) New Devil May Cry (not the reboot)

20) Resident Evil Reboot? Personally I'd prefer something akin to 4 and The Evil Within though maybe they can think of something completely different than the types we know of.

21) Resonance of Fate 2 and Folklore 2 reveals PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Will stop at 21 since lucky 21, maybe all of them will become true :P

Oh and I guess I want all the games I'm hyped for to be good: Nier Automata, Gravity Rush 2, NiOh, Dark Souls 3, Final Fantasy 15, Persona 5 (pretty much assured), Yakuza 0 (I know it's good since it's a port), Hitman, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, etc etc. I hope Doom is good.

I play each alpha test they release. Got a new patch coming hopefully today or tomorrow to the live server with a lot of good fixes.

Eh, it's more a catch 22 of that game. There is a brilliance in having the Alien stick to the player like glue and act "dynamically", but at the same time it naturally leads to a lot of no win scenarios, especially considering he auto-kills you (until you get a flamethrower, and that games difficulty is LOLwutdifficulty?), but it's an easier pill to swallow compared to other games because the highs are so good. When it's working, it's really tense, and really has no equal when everything works as intended. It's more evolutionary from the things Penumbra and Amnesia did, as opposed to just more of that out right (ala Outlast and Soma the latter being from the same dev as Penumbra and Amnesia).

Larger issue with that game is that the 2nd half is basically garbage.

I want new ips, anything else I can take or leave. But I want new shit, I don't want another parade of sequels, I don't want the fucking come back of ips I might even have some affection for (Time Splitters, No One Lives Forever, Metroid, Viva Pinata, Okami), I want new things. This medium already has a sequel problem, and more so I want some triple A one offs. Legitimately well made, and well produced games, that handle the business side of things, but won't be getting fucking sequels.

Otherwise I want this medium to start making more attempts to tell a story through interactive means, and less through passive means (cutscenes). Yes it limits you a little bit, but I don't like shittier version of movies. I don't fucking have a diet consisting of pocky, so a lot of JRPG story telling to me, is exactly what it is: hot fucking garbage. I don't ignore wildly superior films to be all that impressed by shitty crime dramas from Rockstar or the likes of Mafia, and Naughty Dog is painfully generic, execution end is nice, but **** you I want new things, as I don't subscribe to the narrative that you must judge shitty ass video game stories in a vacuum.

Silent Hill 2, Planescape, and Shadow of the Colossus nail their shit in a video game. Soma doesn't actually work without some of the twists that involve it being a video game, Portal took advantage of being a video game, Sunless Sea takes advantage of being a video game. The Souls games take advantage of being a video game. It wouldn't kill some of these triple A cats to actually take a chance.

Beyond that I just need better design across the board as far as games. I don't have a particular preference or style of game. Limited huds don't do anything for me, nor bother me when the game can validate its huds, likewise if you're going to have scoring systems (which I like), I'd like them to be done well. And above all else if you think your genre is an excuse to give me shitty combat, when the combat makes up most of the experience, **** you in advance.

Western game developers, triple A side, need to be less hot garbage at difficulty settings. It's like a weird lost art form out here or something.

As something that's actually realistic, I want more SEGA, Capcom, and CAVE games on Steam.

Unfortunately a lot of the points are dreams.

  • No more micro transactions OR atleast to be implemented in a right way like how Rainbow Six Siege handled it ... best case scenario would be getting rid of it, i'll remain skeptical about ppl not supporting it tho.

**Never Happen, making too much money from it all**

  • More polished and optimized games. No more broken games like Fallout 4, Batman AK, etc

**Never Happen, publishers will continue pushing devs for deadlines**

  • Not having to pay 60 for a multiplayer game ! i'd pay 60 for the said game provided that they support it down the line with free stuff, not like Star Wars Battlefront ! My ideal price point for such games is 30-40$. It's fair

**Never Happen, these price points have become the average price**

  • More indie games, i like the way our industry supports them, it's where the cool ideas come from

**Some idie games have been surprisingly good, but way too many lacklustre ones**

  • Supporting Kickstarter better than ever

**Agree**

  • Reviewers be more open and frank about mentioning the technical problems, not giving a free pass to anyone.

**Agree, reviews should have a segment on the technical side of a game**
