What does the PS3 have to counter Gears of War 2?

ok tell me please what game does the xbox 360 has to counter uncharted , mgs4, inFamous , GT5 , little big planet, ninja gaiden Σ 2 and GOD OF WAR ... all i see is halo and gears of war, is that it? 2 franchises? only?

Uncharted 2 offers similar gameplay in terms of cover/shoot. I think it's safe to say that it will be better than Gears of War 2. They both look great and have a lot to offer in game modes, etc. But, I played Gears of War 1 first then Uncharted earlier this year, and Uncharted, imo had the better/more interesting story and characters. Then also, the whole variety of platforming gameplay helps add a lot and Gears of War didn't have that. Uncharted 1 had a better art style than the grey Gears of War. The visuals were better and the animations were a lot more smooth than gears. I think that Gears did a better job though in the amount of walls you could actually take cover to (from what I remember). With all that said, since Uncharted 2 is coming with multiplayer, it's getting outstanding reviews, and people are really enjoying the beta, it seems like Uncharted 2 is the better choice for a third person game at this point.

I was really looking forward to trying Gears. Too bad when I did the game sucked. The controls are SUPER SLUGGISH. Even more-so than Killzone 2 and the graphics looked like Unreal Tournament 3. I was dissapointed to say the least.

Gears 2 is garbage imo. Not lair or Too Human garbage, but in the AAA realm, it's garbage.

Can you really honestly tell me that you liked Gears of Wars campaign to Uncharted's? I don't even think it's an argument who wins in characters/story. Gears of War's advantage is that it basically brought a huge refresh to the 3rd person/cover system genre of gameplay that we hadn't seen much of until that point. Also, it has multiplayer and that's another advantage over Uncharted 1. What I'm saying is that that Uncharted 2 is likely to be much better because the story/characters will be probably more interesting, it will have more variety in terms of environments, and it will have kickass multiplayer with plenty of nice gamemodes and the mix of platforming elements. In Gears I won't be able to hang off a ledge and get a quick kill on someone. Btw, this is coming from someone who bought a 360 BECAUSE OF GEARS OF WAR.

I hadn't thought of getting Uncharted 1 until learned a lot more about Uncharted 2 about a year ago (this game getting an 8 as a single player GameSpot didn't help convince me to get it initially). I did end up learning about it and watching/reading IGNs more proper review of this game, and I'm glad I did. I basically see Uncharted 2 as a almost perfected version of Gears of Wars cover system. The animations are smoother, guns have more recoil when you hold down the trigger, you can take cover in more variety of ways than you can in Gears of War.

Wha? So cause it blew people into chunks and you can saw people makes it better. TBH all that gears had over uncharted 1 was MP since it gave it replayability. THats about it though. Uncharted to me had a good story with a good cast. Gears story was a joke and I hate the cast. Especially cole train WORST CHARACTER THIS GEN.

No one here has played Uncharted 2 yet, so it's impossible to tell. Personally, I wasn't impressed with GeoW2 relative to the original, it didn't seem like a big improvement. I think that's confirmed when you look at the development time and budget numbers -- it wasn't a huge production, it was actually fairly cheap (under $20M, which qualifies as cheap relative to this generation).masterpinky2000

You obviously didn't play it very long then, or just played the multiplayer, because I thought the exact same thing until I bought it and played all the way through. The game is filled with amazing moments.

imo LBP :Pim not a huge Sci-Fi shooter fan only ones i own right now are Halo 1,KZ2,Resistance 1(got it with my PS3 never completed it).

If im playing FPS im much more into modern stuff like BF:BC and COD4 (i said it *blushes*)

i have played gears 2 and the uncharted 2 beta online now gears is a good game yes it is i love me some gears of war i mean come on a gun fused with a chain saw is greatness iam i right or iam i right lol. but uncharted 2 my friends by far out strips gears of war 2 . it truly does . i mean yea gears u got great weapons and good violence . but overall to me uncharted 2 is more fun since theirs way more stuff u can do to kill a guy in the game and the gameplay is way more advanced if it was gears vs uncharted 2 the win is uncharted 2

gears 2 has laggy multiplayer and the cheap host thing. the single player is not eveen good. the onlt thing good is the horde mode. uncharted 2 has all that. gears2 is penuts to U2 trust me

I dont agree with story. Gears 1 had a very weak story, but the gameplay easily forgave that. Hell, playing it coop is the way to go :)

As for Gears 2the story was defitinitly better. Longer, more fleshed out and new side stories and such.

Im 100% sure that UC2 will have a good story, as did the first 1

Uncharted 2 isn't out yet genius, and I'm pretty sure MGS4 and LBP overtake Gears 2, especially with MGS4 winning 2008 GotY and Gears 2... well, you know.

did u ever think because Halo 3 is the only decent exclusive online that everyone is on it (yes left 4 dead is good to, but not as good as Halo 3). 360 only really has 4 killer exclusives, Halo 3, Gears 2 (online sucks here), Mass effect and Left 4 dead. Ps3 users are spread between a lot of games, where as 360 users always stay on Halo 3 or ODST. If the Ps3 only had 1 killer exclusive everyone would be playing that online all the time (look at Warhawk and Socom confrontation the servers are nearly always full with games and not including player hosted matches)
