[QUOTE="REVENGEotSITH"] Well, daily we see threads created that bash Halo 1 and Halo 2, and that say Halo 3 isn't much more than Halo 2 in HD; but the fact is - Halo is a system seller. You can say that GT3 outsold Halo, that's fine. I'd HOPE that with over 3 times as many PS2s sold as Xboxes, that there would be a game that outsold Halo and Halo 2.
As it stands now, believing who you listen to, there have been ~10 million 360s sold to date. Gears has sold 4,000,000 copies. That's a 40% attach rate. By the time Halo 3 comes out, we are probably talking about 12 million 360 sold. 6,000,000 copies of Halo 3 is very reasonable, given the success of the franchise, it being THE flagship title for the 360, and the amount of hype/marketing that MS will put into it.
Given these numbers, I dare any cow out there to give me ONE game that will even come close to this success on the PS3.

We already did :? You are just too stuck on attach rates. The ps2 was a more well-rounded system with well rounded sales for many many many games. So many games tend to eat into each others sales a bit when the choices are plentiful.Your point is a good one when talking about 1 specific game. However, if a console is well-rounded, with lots of good games, then the attach rate for that console should be high (since there are lots of great games that appeal to everyone who owns the console). The PS2 was. The PS3 isn't.
I've been hammering the attach rate issue a lot lately, I agree. I am doing it because it is something that is NEVER mentioned when we argue about console sales. This is where the money is at - not in the sale of consoles. Why else would Sony and Microsoft sell their consoles at a loss? Because they make their money back on games sales.
Sony said that they'd sell 5 million PS3s even if there weren't any games for it. Man, I'd love to borrow their time machine some day and see if the Browns ever win the Super Bowl....
