I haven't learned much, except that going by trends and seeing from their work a lot of devs are currently in serious trouble. They always have to abide by the demands of gamers in order to get any attention, thats why pretty much every game has to have co op, online(MGS4 + GTA4 ?!?!), and all that sort of stuff.
It taught me (so far): Casuals ruin games, if a games hyped there's a 80% chance it sucks, shovelware fails, online on systems isn't fun, if a game is rated M there's a high change it will get a better rating, if a developer introduces a different type of gameplay it's hyped up to hell and will be AAAA, FPS developers are lazy, mmorpgs suck, pretending to play a sport is supposedly funnier then playing it, Nintendo is out for cash, Ubisoft is out for cash, ratings are bull, etc.YandereLOL this is exactly how I feel.
That console gaming CAN be better than PC gaming. I was hardcore PC gaming last gen, and played my ps2 occasionally, but I loved my PC much more generally speaking. This gen, even with a gaming rig and all, I mostly enjoy my PS3 more than my PC. I still love both, but my PS3 is getting a lot more attention.
That Ninty fanboys are always complaining about 360/PS3, their graphics and their FPS games, and that the wii is "unique"
That MS fanboys only play Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 and they love spending all their hard-earned cash for crappy DLC.
That Sony fanboys are always saying that the PS1 and PS2 and PS3 are the best consoles ever and the greatest games are LBP, MGS4 and Killzone 2.
That PC fanboys refuse to play any console game and will never play a non-PC game.
Oh, and that many people don't want to open up to different game genres.

Well, Hermits do not want to play inferior titles you know. They have better games :)
The only people you can trust to tell you which games are the good ones are the players in gameplay videos, and you can only trust their hands, not their mouths. Capcom, EA, Ubisoft, and Valve will never make anything good. If the gross revenue of a game exceeds the amount spent making it, a sequel to that game will be made. Most gamers don't understand the difference between "fun", "casual", and "hardcore". Video game music is way better than what official bands produce. Non-gamers are just as large of a market in regards to games as gamers. I don't have high standards. Everyone else has low standards.NBSRDanValve will never develop a good game? So thats why they are consideredto be one of thebest dev teamsaround. As for EA they have developed some pretty good titles and so has UbiSoft.

Nintendo + handhelds = win
Never ever buy another Sony handheld at launch
Cows have taught me that if you lose you're actually winning if you twist facts, and use faulty logic
Sheep have taught me that 10 AAe games are better than 1 AAAe game which is actually good logic
Lemmings haven't really taught me anything :(
Hermits have taught me that you should never buy a game for consoles if it's on the PC even if said game is more fun when four players are playing on some big screen tv's (L4D. I own both, and it was 1,000,000,000,000 times more fun playing with friends on the 360 than playing with friends on the PC).

10 AAe Games are better then one AAAe game....
But it is also around $450 more expensive.
And for that you could get a PS3, MGSIV, Killzone 2, and another game of your fancy.
Mentioning the 360 would just be unfair XD
< 3
(Brawl is < 3 though)

it has also taught me that nintendo fanboys are horrible horrible people, and are completely brainwashed into buying anything nintendo throws at them such as the useless DS and Wii, and all their trash games

You want to know what I've actually bought of Nintendo's this gen before you go off assuming some more?
A Nintendo DS. That's it.
People on these forums need to think twice before assuming.

O_o really?
I still haven't found that killer app that makes me love my DS.
it was my first console of this gen, but i feel like i've gotten more use out of my PSP just between tekken and GG.
Do you have any games you'd recomend DS wise?
I'll admit i have not looked lately.
Nice and to never buy a console at launch, ever!that I really DONT like motion controls despite my belief before the gen that they were "neat"
dragonfly110
Here's a few:
If you're a sheep, anything featuring violence is an instant no-no, and if you're a 360/PS3 guy, anything featuring "kiddy graphics" is an instant no-no.
PC gaming costs $5000 yearly, because I need to upgrade every year.
Wiimote is win, even if I would hate it if Sony/MS came up with it first instead.
If that AAA game you secretly love is exclusive to a console that's a competor to what you're playing on, you pretend that it sucks simply because it's on another console.
When it comes to OOT, forget how it plays in 2009, make your main arguement about how great it was in 1998, ignoring 99% of the arguements against it.
Every AAAE/AAAAE game is overrated.
Rehashing IPs on 360/PS3 is a bad thing, yet it's OK to make *deep breath* Mario Party(the series became milking as early as #3), Mario Sports, DDR Mario, Wii ____, Link's Crossbow Training, porting SNES games to GBA, and so on.
XBL is not worth $50 a year.
Somehow, even though they're pretty much the same damn thing, somehow Achievements aren't as good as Trophies, and vice versa.
Even though devs are making multiplats equal on 360/PS3 today, somehow the PS3 version of a multiplat is inferior to the 360 version.
Nostalgia is more important than how good a game really is.

That's the trick with the DS. It's obviously got games like Mario, and Zelda, but if you really look you can find some pretty interesting stuff.
If you're into niche JRPGs I'd look into Super Robot Taisen OG Saga. Made by the same people that made Xenogears I believe? And published by Atlus (Shin Megami Tensei and such). It's kinda linear (ok mostly), but still it gave me 40 hours of funny dialogue, a fun battle system, and absolutely amazing music. My favorite soundtrack this gen.

I'd look into it first, but I know a long time ago I created a thread here in the DS forums telling everyone about the game, and lots of people replied saying they had bought it because of that thread, and they thought it was awesome. I was pretty happy about that, but it MIGHT not be for everyone.
