What if COD Black Ops 8.5'd?

as a halo fan no I wouldn't gloat it if the game got an 8.5. and system wars would think thats the right score for a cod game

All the CoD fanboys I know would just dismiss it as an awful Treyarch game and not buy it. If it got a 9+ score, they would praise it like crazy..

Unless there are a huge amount of mysterious glitches and killstreaks that break the game it won't get under a 9.0. But, then their's that combat training mode and that may lower the game's score depending if it's used well.

It will score 9.0 or higher I think, 8.5 seems to low of a score.

WaW got an 8.5 and I liked WaW more then MW and MW2 combined.

I'd be pretty surprise seeing as a lot of critics tend to be lenient when it comes to CoD, but otherwise I wouldn't care as I'm not interested in the series anyway.

You can't rag on StarCraft. DOW fanboys try to but you just can't. It's like ragging on the original Mario or Baldur's Gate.

Besides, the people who know of StarCraft enough to talk about ti are PC gamers and PC gamers are typically more mature.

Most people here will act as though that's a more suitable score, despite not playing the game. The game is the most unfairly hated game I have ever seen here at System Wars, there are flaws in the Call of Duty titles but to the extent the hate is taken? No, the games are not that bad, and some of them are incredible such as Call of Duty 2 and 4, and to some extent the original(although I'm not as big a fan as many are.)rolo107

I couldn't agree more. It is cool to hate on it, like it is cool to hate on Apple. I find it funny how cod4 was unbalanced, hated, and noob friendly before MW2 came out and now it is considered an awsome game that is perfectly balanced and has no flaws. COD games are better than a lot of shooters on the market. The new modes that are being added look fun to play.

IGN gave Mw2 a 9.5 in graphics.....Anybody who believes mw2 deserved that 9.5 for graphics is an idiot. Damn, games that use UE3 look 2x times better.

Let me revise the PC Modern Warfare 2 score for IGN.

Presentation- 5.0

Campaign is amazingly short and VERY repetive compared to the average FPS. Multiplayer uses a cheap matchmaking system+a worthless anti-cheat. No mod tools. Overall we have A LOT less then what we got on previous COD title's.

Graphics- 7.5

Uses a 3 year old engine with hardly any upgrades. No plans for future DX10 or 11 support. I would give it an 8.9 three years ago.

Sound- 6.0

The fact that 40% of the sound is from cod2 with barely any improvement from cod4...I'd say none. Even World at War sounds better ecpecially with 7.1 sorround sound. I want that realistic battle sound that new and upcoming shooters have. This isn't 2005. PFFT WaW gets an 8.5.

Matchmaking limits the amount of players in a game. Laggy+a 0 ping advantage for the host. Overpowered killstreaks and unbalanced weapons. Killstreaks and perks dumb down skill to even play this game. Spawn system SUCKS. I really don't want to spawn next to enemy.. Cod4 was kinda a new experiece so I would give it an 9.0 back then. Cod2 had a GREAT spawn system. What happen?

I don't even know why would anybody even continue to play this game after a few weeks. To the 70,000 people on Steam who play this excuse for a video game- Please die in a hole and please buy a console in Video game hell.

Wouldn't MortgageMan explode into a billion pieces if it scored that low. I'm excepting close to a 9.0 for the game, but I'm not going to buy the game at all because of my hate for Activision.

I honestly don't see it getting a 9, unless it actually deserves it. IMO, the game will have to drastically improve upon MW2 in order for that to happen. Later in the lifespan of consoles, critics tend to dislike redundancy.

I get your point, having said that they're really not bad games. Yeah, they're overrated by the fans of the series, but they're also criticized to much by haters of the series. Its a series of solid games that at this point are just repetitive. They're deserving of maybe an 8.0 score since they are technically sound with decent gameplay, but hardly bring anything new to the table. So while I don't think the COD series is all that great (I'm not even buying Black Ops) I find a hard time saying its a flatout terrible series. The games really are not bad. They just aren't great either.
