Cant be any worse than the TP reaction.Oh yes it can :? Galaxy has SO much hype around it, if it flops...then my god!

Actually....it could. TP was a gamecube port with visuals that didn't take advantage of the wii and sound effects that weren't orchestrated due to gamecube disc space limitations.
Mario is ground up for the wii, it supposedly represents a new height of visuals on a modestly powered console, it supposedly makes good clean use of the controls, the hype is probably greater, this is a major mario 3d platformer with the fire flower included! Think about it.
I personally dont give a damn what GS thinks..... would any of you care if GS gave OOT a 6.5? or 7.9? Doubt it.... and if you did, then you wouldnt be much of a gamer in my book. Just cuz some idiot that probably hasn't played even as many games as I have gives a game a # value, doesn't make any difference to me.
I know what I like... I can see that SMG is gonna be a RUNAWAY HIT, regardless of what "so and so" on GS thinks.

I don't know about that I think there was much more Hype for TP. Main reason was it took them so long to make the game.

Looking in retrospect, you can easily list the flaws tp had, that doesnt change the fact that it had enormous hype.If you think galaxy outweighs zelda in hype, you either:
a) werent here or
b) looking too much in retrospect at its flaws.
I'm just bringing up a hypothetical. I don't honestly believe that this game can possibly get anything below 9/10.
But even if it got 5/10 on here i would still want to play it as badly. This thread is not about mario galaxy flopping, but what the reaction would be in these forums if it scored poorly on this site, as most wii games tend to do.

Hello, as I'm new on that board I got alerted by what you just said. Do you mean GameSpot hates the Nintendo Wii ? And if that's the case, which are the reasons ?
I didn't see that, for example, as you talked about Zelda TP, this one got an 8.8 and was qualified as "great". Do you really find that score "poor" ? ;)
Wasn't TP supposed to be the one of the best games ever? That flopped and sheep still exist. I'm sure that if Mario Galaxy gets an 8.5 (it won't get any lower), they'll cry "Maybe if it had guns and sex it'd get AAA around here" and recover within a month. Auricom-R
Actually I think TP was supposed to reproduce one of the best games ever, or rather, THE best game ever (I late you guess which one it is ! ;)), and just as for cinema, sequels or remakes are often worse than the original...
Mario Galaxy doesn't really have the same problem I guess, 'cause it has the advantage that he really has something new (with the wiimote and the nunchuck), just as Mario 64 got something new with 3D...
Well, I know that's not really the debate, but I guess Mario Galaxy's potential doesn't have the same shape as Zelda TP's one :) !

Go look up the warioware smooth moves review. Then tell me with a straight face if zelda tp is worse than that game.
It's that simple, 9.1 is a bigger number than 8.8 to most fanbabies.
Gamespot has huge disparity between it's wii reviews and those on gamerankings and 95% of other review sites.
I couldn't care less, it doesn't affect the game, gamespot doesn't decide the commercial success of a title, or how much people enjoy it, or how great it truly is, but it is still doing a poor job of wii reviews and you'd need to be blind not to see it. Just a heads up.
The world will crack in 2
But seriously TP had more hype because it was longer to make also I'm looking at 100+ suspensions rather than bans

Zelda Tp was constrained by the past. Developed on the gamecube, a throwback to ocarina of time, etc.
Mario Galaxy is a game that has been set free. Is there another 3D platformer in existence that allows you to run around the landscape in such a way with such nimble fidelity and with virtually no camera issues thanks to the wiimote-nunchuck scheme? I don't think there ever was, and i don't think there will be, until mario galaxy is released.

Apparently mario galaxy conceptualisation started 10 years ago. Before pikmin was released shigeru miyamoto envisioned a unrestricted 3d mario game with very different control methods. Mario sunshine seems more like a side project in light of this realisation. Can't find the link to the article right now.
I sadly enough wouldn't be the least bit surprised, seeing as how the last major console mario game got an 8....
mario in 2D=amazing-awesomeness.
mario in 3D= not so much.

Mario 64 begs to differ.
if it weren't for teh awesome analog inovation, it wouldn't have.
If either Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect or Halo flop there will be unbriidled carnage in the streets. Grown men will weep, brother will turn on brother, husband will turn on wife and the last days as foretold in rapture will finally come to pass. bulletmathroflmao:lol::lol::lol::lol:

SO? That doesn't negate my point does it? So mario 64 doesn't deserve being a good game because it used an analogue stick? Is that a form of cheating? Having good controls that work?
I can't see Super Mario Galaxy scoring lower than a 9...anywhere.

all I'm saying is that the 3D marios are never as good as the 2D ones.
twilight pincesses review score was completely justified in my oppinion,i think its just that they were attached to gs's prefect score tehy gave ocarine of time.i cant see it getting any less than a 8.5 although i dont think it will get goty.k-diddy66
How can it be justified if warioware outsocred it? It logically cannot. Was warioware score justified in your opinion? Choose one or the other, either way gamespot cannot be trusted.
Gamespot gave TP one of the the lowest scores out of hundreds of major review sites and publications. That says something, and it has little to do with 'justification'.
I have finished the game twice, and no, 8.8 is not justified. 8/10 for gameplay? 7/10 for sound? HELL NO.
I can't see Super Mario Galaxy scoring lower than a 9...anywhere.

What is a flop for this game in your eyes? Anything below 9?
A flop is below on what System Wars thinks this game is going to get. So far this game has been hyped AAA. If it gets below AAA, then it's officially considered a flop in Gamespot.

I fully agree ! ;) And even if that doesn't justify anything, in your answer could come part of the reason that Wario Ware Smooth Moves beat Zelda TP on Game Spot.
After that, sorry but I don't know GS articles enough to judge it's objectivity...

I know that, but I wasn't sure if you were going by this sites definition or your own thats all.
Pray for gamespot and the reviewer if it gets 8.5 or less. Pray.

Even with that taken into account, a high quality epic game with 50 hours of content vs a 2 hour minigame compilation? No contest.
I have warioware and it is great...for the first 3-4 hours, and then you either play it with friends around you or it becomes a coaster. It is simply not in the same league.
