What in the world was Nintendo thinking with that monstrosity of a controller?

Nintendo is making a real console.

The other two are playing catch up of making a low end PC and will probably continue to do so with PS4 and Xbox 720.

nintendo hasnt been catering to the hardcore crowd since the n64 days it's crazy how awesome n64's library was compared to their stuff today.

wii has more games than n64 but the games just arent as cool.

wii's the only nintendo console i never bought.

Nes was more powerful than other consoles of it's time and even snes could overall do better graphics than genesis and n64 owned other consoles at the time also...but ever since gamecube nintendo has failed xbox was way more powerful and then wii they didnt even try.

Shame they dont care about making powerful consoles anymore.

Look the Wii U and Vita have innovative features... Problem is both innovations are not good... In the case of the Wii U the innovative feature would be decent if it did not make the controller the size of a mastodon (back touch pad is just terrible on every level).

The Wii U's controller is bigger than the Jaguar's that is a fact.

And yeah the Wii is full of shovelware. Its the most popular console this gen so its to be expected. Did all the shovelware make the PS2 a bad console? And no, I'm not saying the Wii is another PS2, so please dont derail the point.

If you can not see past the shovelware to all the great games the Wii has to offer then I do genuinely feel sorry for you.

You haven't held the thing in your hand yet. The press that actually did at E3 all said it was pretty comfortable. Oh, and the Wii Remote and Nunchuck and all the Wii peripherals will be fully compatible with WiiU.

If Nintendo was fine making hardware when it was more expensive they'd be willing to take a loss on it. They were never willing to do that and are still reluctant to do that now (save the 3DS, which put them into a corner).

No ... because it was technically impossible to create hardware like that without suffering a loss. Nintendo doesn't have different sectors where they can make money off of like Sony and Microsoft. They can't afford to sell a console at a loss and make up for it elsewhere.

And I'm glad they did tbh. I'm greatful that the Wii-U wasnt another "me too" console. Don't get me wrong, the PS3 and 360 are definitely fine consoles, but I really enjoyed the different types of games that the Wii had to offer.

It's possible to use experience and reasoning to form an educated opinion about something you haven't directly experienced yet. I can guarantee, I've never put my hand on the stove. But you know what? I'm pretty sure its hot. I don't think touching it would be a good idea.

After my experience with the Dreamcast VMU, the DS, Videogames, and seeing the damn thing, it just doesn't look like a good idea.

Honestly, the only thing that worries me about the Wii U controller is how Nintendo wwill handle Smash Bros.

The Classic Controller Pro works pretty good with Smash Bros and I'm pretty sure the Wii-U will allow use of those.

I'm not a fan of that controller. I can't think of ANYTHING interesting it could add to games (and moving your hud/map off the screen is not interesting).

I'd much rather get a new/better wiimote.
