my only concern is that there doesn't seem to be a L3 or R3 button STILL.

[QUOTE="goblaa"]You seriously can't? I can already think of switching weapons in mid battle in beat 'em ups :o Or maybe selecting your move in Pokemon Stadium 3. Pictionary in HD!! I think it has a lot of potential. The only thing I'm afraid of is that it won't be used (not taken to its full potential), or it'll be used in horrible ways, like what happened to motion gaming.I'm not a fan of that controller. I can't think of ANYTHING interesting it could add to games (and moving your hud/map off the screen is not interesting).
I'd much rather get a new/better wiimote.

That guy has been anti anything other than Wiimote+nunchuck 2.0 all the way back since the rumors started almost 1 year ago, even though Wiimotes are still required for multiplayer which means most games such as FPS will have the option to play with the IR pointer.
RTS on a tablet > IR pointer, MMO's/Diablo type of PC experiences can finally be played on consoles without gimping the experience, new types of multiplayer like Chase Mii, Pictionary!!, the list goes on.
Hello, it's already confirmed that Zelda on Wii U will use the same control scheme as on Wii. He is just a hater.
I was disappointed by the Wii U controller when I first saw it too, I can't blame goblaa :P But the more I thought about it, the more I saw the potential. They need to stop marketing it as a "Oh, my dad's watching TV, but that's okay, I can play on my tablet!" and need to start marketing it as a revolutionary control scheme. Because that's what it's going to be.Eponique
I wouldn't say disappointed because I love tablets but I was also initially afraid of Nintendo dropping Wiimote support. It's different today once you realize things and also knowing that Zelda for Wii U will keep the same control scheme like I said, which is crazy when you think about it and it shows that Nintendo is reasonable when it comes to controls.
Streaming to the controller is part of what makes it revolutionary, it's a new feature. It's not just for the dad scenario, the console will stream unique information to the u-pad. Take Pictionary, your family&friends will be looking at the TV screen while they hand the u-pad to the person who is supposed to draw next, and on the controller screen it tells you and only you what you are supposed to draw, while the others have no clue as they are just watching the TV and trying to guess what it is. That's a new feature in itself.

That doesn't sound like anything specal or interesting. Weapon changing? Choosing moves? Aren't d-pads already doing this?

yes, d pads and other methods like pausing and selecting things methodically work; it's just that the touch screen does it better.
Look at the reason that the d pad was invented in the first place- moving around. Now we use analog sticks but analog sticks were not needed, just better.
Also when analog sticks replaced d pads for movement that increased level of control led to changes in how the games were designed, and the same thing can happen with the WiiU's touch screen. I'm into EA's NHL series and I can already imagine the application to that series for quick line changes, set plays, and even custom line changes. How about for online games the touch screen can turn into a keyboard to message people with and that sort of thing?
