I thought Red Dead Redemption was a new IP? That's what Game Informer referred to it as (since they reasoned it was completely unlike Revolver in almost every way other then setting and name).
But I pick Uncharted.
red dead revolver was a ps2 game last genRed Dead Redemption should be on that list.

In terms of something truly original, and not some mashup of existing franchises, I'd have to go with Assassin's Creed. The combination of sci-fi and historical fiction creates a very well-strung narrative and believable world.foxhound_foxCouldnt have said it better myself.

I cant tell if your sig is supposed to be something else, or if its just wrong. I am assuming it means Psycho mantis? Maybe its supposed to be funny and I just didnt get it :P.
I'm having trouble choosing between Mass Effect and Uncharted.
phantomblade220
Uncharted. There I made up your mind for you ;).
The Batman Arkham games by a very large margin IMO. Personally, I didn't enjoy Uncharted 2 or Assassin's Creed II. I haven't played Gears enough to make an accurate assessment, but it doesn't look like my kind of game.

Yes, it is supposed to be psycho mantis, its from a thread a couple weeks ago.
Uncharted, Bar none. Gears 3 looks like the only incredible game in the Gears series, while Uncharted has 2.
AC has been milked to death and Mass Effect is awful.
AC has been milked to death [...]theuncharted34Wait, what? Every iteration in the main series has added a significant amount of new content and addressed many issues. If a developer can do what Ubisoft has done with AC, and release it on a yearly basis, then I say bring it on. Considering how long the credits were in Brotherhood, I wouldn't be surprised if at least 500 people contributed to its production. Which negates any concern about "milking." Just because it comes out more often than the average game doesn't mean it isn't largely fresh content and well-made. I could understand if you said the same about Call of Duty, or Guitar Hero, games that barely change(d) with every iteration, and only add(ed) superficial content and nothing of the core gameplay was changed.

The only content they added are new issues! Like making a crappier combat system and the worst story of the universe. Not to mention tons of performance issues. That's not what I call "addressing issues". Call of Duty maybe doesn't change much but it doesn't make it worse. It's a decent series. AC was a decent series that with brotherhood now is completely broken. It tell you everything when even their 4th game is plauged with screen tearing. Wow 500 people? And yet none of those could've fixed the screen tearing in 5 f***** years? Mean seriously this is the least well done series I ever played. Ever.
[QUOTE="theuncharted34"]What's so awful about Mass Effect? Its awfulness for example. Gameplay is so lame and crappy. And the setting so freaking boring. Dat 91/100 Metascore for ME1 and dat 96/100 Metascore for ME2 says otherwise. :|
You just don't like the games. Other than the fact that it's not "open" enough for you, you gave no valid reasons as to why it's an "awful" game.
I could say Dark Souls is awful because the gameplay is so lame and crappy, and the setting is boring.
Anyone could say that for pretty much any game they didn't like, but their argument would be invalid without explaining what was so "awful" about the game.

Of those mentioned I voted I'd say Uncharted followed closely by Gear s of War. Although I also LOVE Mass Effect. So I like all of those but AC personally.
However my true favorite of this generation, just because it has a special place in my heart, is No More Heroes. I love Travis Touchdown to death and Santa Destroy is an amazing locale. So That's my true answer.
Other noteworthies for me would be:
LittleBigPlanet
De Blob
Dead Space
Muramasa
Red Steel

ME has WAY too many issues to be the best. I enjoyed them a lot, especially 1, but they are so far from perfect its not even funny.

No one, and I knew someone would comment on that. When a game has this many flaws, its hard to consider it the best. Glitches, annoying design choices, poor animations, and more. It just isnt the best. Maybe someone prefers it, but its far from the best. I have no idea how 2 recieved such high scores.

I was so pissed that Mass Effect 3 was delayed. Waiting until March is torture.
