What? Pretty sure the most popular genre here is rpg. It could be tied with fps though.

It's not like Layton or something where you have a variety of stuff you do?

Cus that's the deal breaker for me, the climbing boxes gameplay didn't interest me as an entire game.

Other than that, I've never played Atlus games they seem abit.. emo for my taste but this game grabbed my attention, too bad.

Sorry to hear you, and some others don't like it. If you aren't big on anime, puzzle games/ or story focused games, then that should have been your clue right from the get go. I'm digging it, as an original title, that I can kick back and play. And I am one of the people who actually like the gameplay parts. I can see myself experimenting different routes for a couple playthroughs, as the puzzles are supposedly going to get much harder.

Because, and I hate to jump on the bandwagon, if I play one more shooter before long, my head is going to roll, extensively.

The game got a 9 at IGN.

before i played the demo this game was a 3/10 in my book, after the demo it's 4.5/ 10

I'm surprised there were so many people pumped for this game as a jrpg, but are now turned off because it's a puzzler. The reason being that every discussion on here people have explained that it's a puzzle platformer... So if you learned about the game on here you should already know this.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that a lot of people aren't going to like this game. Who cares? I'm pumped for it and have been since I've played the japanese demo. I personally think it's a humorous take on the "falling block puzzle genre" a la tetris.. Except you're actually the one falling if you mess up.

It looks intriguing to me.

I suppose it's about as interactive as ME or LA Noire.

Edit: Storytelling and plot is a huge SW topic, Catherine looks to deliver something a little more original than usual so we should appreciate that.

The IGN review specifically called the difficulty out as something that will put people off, and I play single player games to experience a narrative - ideally with little to no breaks in the narrative flow. If I got stuck on a puzzle in a game with a strong narrative I would be f***ing furious, since I would likely never find out first hand how the narrative played out.

To me it is like watching a DVD and being forced to rewind chapters and watch them over and over.

Everyone on here is so f***ing hostile. I wasn't even having a go, I just think it is a shame the game doesn't include difficulty levels so everyone can enjoy it.

Honestly, you can't really be all that surprised mate. It's been obvious from day 1 that the game will be niche.

Sometimes, a difficulty slider simply breaks a game, look at Demon's Souls. That one would have been downright bad if you could set it to easy and have your way with everything.

Haha...no way really? Is the demo on the EU PSN or XBL Marketplace? I did have a look on the marketplace a couple of days ago and the most recent demo was Homefront...lol

The only thing worst than someone who doesn't like a game because it isn't a cookie-cutter release, are people who think a game being original automatically makes it good...

I'll be honest, I think it looks stupid, but I don't like anime, and most japanese games are............for a better word "Weird" (Not all are weird). But TC didn't need to makea thread about it.

Suddenly, I'm interested in the game. Hopefully it's not reverse psychology.

I guess I must've come to that conclusion from what I had already read online. Strange that IGN mention the difficulty but not the fact that it is scalable. My bad for not realising or finding out myself. I was interested in the game when it was first announced. It's just that I shy away from overly difficult games, and I think one that included timed puzzles would just do my nut in. dommeus

what you learn from the demo is that, with easy mode (the only selectable difficulty mode in the demo), you can press select to reset a move you just made - as opposed to the other difficulties where each move is set in stone whether it screws your or not.

I've only played the demo, and the demo is somewhat easy. That's still no indication of how hard the game will be.

It's for people who can't get a girlfriend and have to resort to interactive porno.
