MGS4, FFXIII, Ninja Gaiden, Resident Evil, Team Ico and many more... plenty of disappointments. Luckily there were plenty of awesome surprises as well.
cant really say that, when you didnt have one in the first place :D[QUOTE="HaRmLeSS_RaGe"]
PS3 :(

Incorrect. I own one and so am well within my rights to say it is shite
GT5 for me. The expectations were stratospherically high and there was no way it was ever goin to live up to them all but when it did eventually release the unfinished mess we all received was almost unbelievable and required a 1+GB download even before it was first installed on your ps3:o
Granted PD have spent the rest of the time tryin to fix it with patches left right and centre but for me the damage was already done, GT5 was the first game in the series that i havent put serious time into for months at a time.
There are plenty of things of this gen that disappointed me.
1 ) The "Streamlining" of games on all platforms and genres (read dumbing down to a homogeneous mass)
2 ) That DLC became what it became, often leaving games incomplete despite the pricetag they initially had.
3 ) Yearly sequals, yeah cashgrab and wearing down an IP faster then you can say "Oh Fu.."
4 ) Unstabile Hardware, no brainer when 2/3 of the consoles suffered from too high failure rates (Nintendo being hte only one who broke that trend).
5 ) Consoles as we know them died. Easy to use, slap in the game and play? Yeah goodbye to that, this gen said hello to all the same issues that PC has, updates, patches, waiting times, the all but removal of local multiplayer.
6 ) How Hype becaue more important then the games themselves. Hype is an odd thing which can be fun, but when it overshadows the games and is created at a corperate level, then I see it as bad.
7 ) Fanboys becomming borderline insane. Granted They have allways existed. But the amount of bull throughout the entire industry was just sickening, normal consumers being a brainless fanboy? fair enough, when the industry is just like the consumers? Then it is a serious problem.
8 ) The over bloated budgets for games, and horrible top management from people who clearly does not know anything about the gaming and consumerbases. Big budget games that no one asked for, the killing OF loved IP's. It is odd to see what they decide we do not want, and how those games get croudfunded on kickstarter faster then you can say "money"
[QUOTE="XxR3m1xInHDn3D"][QUOTE="Szminsky"] [QUOTE="Szminsky"][QUOTE="XxR3m1xInHDn3D"][QUOTE="Szminsky"]Halo 3 was one of the best online games this gen did you actually play it online? Didn't touch the online at all... I'm kind of an old school singleplayer person. Online FPS's feel kinda redundant to me, all them CS's, COD's, TF's etc, put me off... they're only about killing people and earning points, without a story progression whatsoever. I like story driven games, but hey... That's just me. I enjoy both but in the last few years the multiplayer side is just too similar with each franchise so I'm pretty much strictly single player however Halo 3 was one of the only online FPS games I got addicted to this gen. I wasn't really a fan of the single player either when compared to Halo 1 and 2 but it was fun in co-opBiggest disappointments?
1. Halo 3 - I bought a 360 just for this game and mass effect, cause the hype was through the roof. My first Halo game: couldn't stand it, the twitch-floaty gameplay, horrible story, one dimensional and childish enemies, and the voice acting is terrible (music was good though). Worst part is the "flood ship" area, absolutely terrible game design. The 2 positive things about the game is the music and the scale of certain battles. Traded in the 360 once Mass effect hit PC.
2. Resistance 1&2. - disappointing in all areas, and the story is weird and stupid. Twitch-floaty gameplay reminded me of Halo, couldn't stand it. Didn't bother with nr. 3
3. Mass effect trilogy ending. An otherwise stellar franchise, ending so abruptly and simple, made me very sad and disappointed.
