There have been quite a few.
The 32X flopping
the 3DO flopping
the Saturn flopping
The N64
The Dreamcast flopping
The Gamecube
The Xbox
The Wii
The 360 shoddy hardware
The PS3 slow start
Just off the top of my head.

Wow, hit the nail right on head nice. I need to add a couple though, Atari Jaguar, Sega CD, Sega Master System, Sega Channel, Neo Geo Price, Turbo Grafx, Virtual Boy, and this current gen console library of games
[QUOTE="killerfist"][QUOTE="SolidGame_basic"][QUOTE="mingo123"][QUOTE="SolidGame_basic"]You haven't beaten it until you get all 40 emblems. I've spent 60 hours on gameplay, and still not done. The Big Boss Emblem is the hardest, in which you have to beat the game within 5 hours with no continues, alerts, or kills on The Boss Extreme. See how long that takes you. I've also spent over 55 hours with MGO which was pretty much a giveaway.
SolidGame_basic
I have completed the main story, I dont care about challeneges wether its MGS4 or not, and I unlocked stuff for GAME COMPLETITION. Ive spent almost 30 hours with MGO tho but its not MGO, the problem is MGS4 SP, which was too short
Well, it's not for everyone. Kojima has said himself that his games are about replayability and being able to discover new ways to play the game. It's been like that since MGS1.
I think MGS4 is more a fan service than anything elseMGS4 is so much better if you have played the first 3
Yea, that too. RUMBLE IS BACK!
heh I love that part with Psycho mantis in MGS1:P I will show you my power! and he reads your memory card and lets your controller rumble lolbut I love that dialogue with Otocan where he tells you to change discs even more:P
For this gen, GTA IV. I loved the series, was even more hyped when I saw the reviews, but I absolutely hated the game.
For all video game gens, the failure of the Dreamcast. Never did any console deserve to succeed more. So many amazing titles, but nobody seemed to care.
It's a toss up between NG2 and MGS4. NG2 for the very boring boss fights. In NG, NGB, NGS, it could take someone hours and hours and hours to find the one particular way to beat a boss. NG2? I had more trouble with the mechs than I did with the bosses. The Boss fights are what made NG what it is, and NG2 threw it to the wayside.
MGS4. It got hyped to heaven and back. I knew this game was overrated and the praised controls were terrible the second I went to go hug up against a wall, and despite my efforts to press TRIANGLE when it told me to, snake would stand there...then back catalog all my triangle pushes and hug/unhug for like 2 minutes.
Twilight Princess. Ughh I wish I could get that taste out of my mouth.
Or maybe my GC breaking on me. One of the two.
SSCyborg
Twilight Princess was awesome, it might have been more of the same, but so was LTTP to OOT, it was a more epic, larger scale OOT. I don't see why a lot of people bash it but are okay with spending 2/3rds of a game sailing.

I'd rather a unique Zelda, than one that tries to, and fails to combine ALttP and OoT's awesomeness.

Well, what was it that people didn't like? The combat was vastly improved, the dungeon design was pretty nice, it had the best boss fights of any Zelda, since there were some truely epic battles. The story was typical Zelda as well, where did it fail?
haha I know how that feels..:lol:When I saw the ending for halo 2 my friend was just coming over
I'd beaten the last level and my friend asked "is that the ending"
I replied "HELL NO, are you stupid?"
boy, he started LAUGHIN
krunkfu2
I remember we just sat there for like 5mins thinking This.. can't... be.. it..right? lol
then we went back to the shop and returned it for another game. I picked it up later on for very cheap.
Sid Meir's Alpha Century Back in the mid to late 90s
The game got amazing reviews and I love strategy games BUT this game was TERRIBLE as a matter of fact I hate all Sid Meir games but it was an expensive lesson to learn.
Me and my buddy bought 2 copies went back to his house and installed one of them played for 2 or 3 hours just trying as hard as we could to make it good but it was SOOO LAME. I threw my copy out of the car window on the way home (I had already opened it)
Microsoft cancelling Bungie's announcement.
I remember that night. Everyone thought it was just another prank from Bungie just to raise the hype to new heights. We even disected the letter Bungie posted on their site.
It was just a waste of time. I hate Microsoft for that, but I also love 'em at the same time to let us know the game really exists. :):(
This is a hard one, there so much. Assassins Creed takes the cake this generation, damn I was so hyped for that peace of crap.
I also remember geting a Batman game for the NES when I was a little kid for christmas, I was a huge batman fanboy and I almost cried cause the game wasn't like Super Mario :D
I was also dissapointed my MP3... It was my 1st MP game and i was expecting balls on actionWave360you clearly didn't do your research on the prime series :|
The series focuses more on exploration/puzzle solving rather than combat.
Metal Gear Solid 4's single player, 99% movie 1% gameplay, Kojima ruined the game

Wow, mingo123 must be listening to hardcore lemmings because that is far from the truth.
For me Assassin's Creed is still the biggest, steaming pile of dung I have ever played!
ninty still makes good 1st party games thoughthe wii
i loved the SNES, N64, and gamecube to death.

In my life?
Uh, maybe Sonic Heroes, Mario Sunshine,Wind Waker, or Saturn not getting Sonic X-treme? Then again, Sega dropping out of the console race was huge. Hmm, I might have to come back to this.
This gen as far as games go, it's definitely Halo 3 for me.
[QUOTE="killerfist"][QUOTE="whocares4peace"]dude that blows. My 360 is at the repaircenter as we speak. 2nd time for me. It's definitly up there as biggest dissapointment in gaming. But the Halo2 ending is still #1 lol would you like a violin? I've been offering them to all the victims of faulty 360's *starts playing*My xbox360 breaking........the 3rd time.
I could have sworn 3rd times the charm.
Mavrickkal
you must have made millions playing the violin for the victims lol
MoH: Airborne.
It looked nice enough graphically, and the developers touted weapon customization and an open world that you could parachute into. Sounded like gold to me and my fond memories of Allied Assault.
Then I saw the tiny levels.
And the mildly retarded AI.
And the broken acheivements.
And the panzershrek snipers.
And the headshot-proof ubernazis.
And the giant concrete Doom Fortress.
Sigh... :(
The Nintendo Wii.
Before it came out i constantly imagined the possibilities, but i never dreamed it was possible for nintendo to sink so low.
