The PS4 is the only right answer in my opinion because of the diverse lineup. Want Japanese games? PS4 got you covered. Want western fps? PS4 still got you covered. I don't hate Xbone as much as I would lead you to believe but it's no substitution for the PS quad.

@charizard1605 Yukiko is growing on you, right? =P

Wii U is my favorite, it just reeks of quality. The control is epic, have you ever tried playing Minecraft with a Dual Shock controller? It sucks so bad having to use bought them triggers to do things, i cant stand it. But Wii Us controller just fits no matter the game or controls your using, everything is so well thought out as if God himself had designed it.

Dual screen coop is so fun, having one person play on the Gamepad and the other play on the TV is freaking genius, i feel this is the future of gaming. Then add in the Gyro controls that bless the Gamepad and you have a match made in heaven.

But let us not forget the games, omg we got games for everyone. You like racing? Fighting? RTS? Action? Role Playing? Puzzle? Adventure? Shooting? You name it, we got it. Plus it can play all Wii games and has some awesome Virtual Console games, the system is on point.

My console of choice is the XB1. I owned one before, but sold it. I bought the one I have now because I love Gears and was missing out. I also needed a console to play MKX on since the PC port is ass and I already owned the digital version for the bone. Other reasons include Windows 10, ability to play games and watch television, and Recore.

I have a shifty laptop to play games like Pillars, Divinity, PoE, countless Indies, and I'm sure it will run SFV, so my bases are covered.

If I was a fan of Japanese games/culture I'd be screwed.

Between WiiU and PS4, it's WiiU by far at this point. I just simply spend all my gaming time on WiiU. I've currently logged around 100 hours on a good number of games on the system and there's 100s of hours more quality gaming to be had. Of the 7 top tier, content rich experiences this gen, 6 appear on the WiiU and it probably won't be until Street Fighter V releases next year that PS4 gets a second game of the same kind of caliber.

WiiU

  • Pikmin 3
  • Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
  • Super Mario 3D World
  • Bayonetta 2
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
  • New Super Mario Bros. U

PS4

  • Bloodborne

For me personally it's the Xbox One, yes its GPU is not as powerful as the PlayStation 4 but the disparity seems to be minimal in actual practice. In terms of games there is just much more that speaks to me as a gamer than what I see flooding the market elsewhere. Also platform evolution is a big thing for me and I see Microsoft doing a hell of a lot more in that regard, Sony seems rather stagnant just riding the wave of what they currently are instead of bettering or changing it.

Sure there's a bunch of Japanese games like Tales of Zestiria and Disgaea 5, but those just don't do it for me, where are the actual games? Coming out next year? Also I don't feel that Sony is doing enough to keep me interested in their brand, I just don't see the unique powerhouse that used to exist in the 90's and early 00's, it's just not there anymore.

People bash Microsoft for its rehashes of things but I see that as consistency, things you know you're going to like and what you're going to get from them, plus some off the wall and random things like Sunset Overdrive and ReCore.

What are you honestly happy with and why?

hilarious coming from someone who champions the minor improvements in the pc versions of most multiplatform titles as generational differences,

I own all 3 current-gen consoles (New 3DS) but I been enjoying my Xbox One the most, follow by New 3DS, Wii U, and PS4. But above all, I enjoy gaming and these 3 have there pros/cons so I'll just leave it like that.

So far nothing has enticed me enough to buy a PS4, Xbox One or Wii U. I like value for money and so far, there haven't been enough quality exclusives worth the entry price.

The PlayStation 4. Its literally THE perfect system to own and game on this generation! the verity of games it has is pure awesomeness, the controller is amazing, the UI is clean and easy to understand and oh my god the features this console provide are pure addiction i am simply addicted to the Share feature AND Share Factory literally my YouTube channel growing because of epic recording ability of my PS4 AND ease of recording, editing and uploading directly to YouTube at anytime!

PlayStation4 is is just epicness everywhere you look at it, it has JRPG's support all over the place, it has THE BEST 3rd party support and 3rd party exclusivity all over the place from games like destiny (literally all the exclusive content are on PlayStation, destiny fans on xbox cry on the bungie forums all the time lel) to call of duty to star wars and more! PS+ oh boy thats a whole different story! owning PS3, Vita and PS4 thats literally like 6 to 7 games to get every single month.

PS4 is the gamers choice for gaming this generation.

The shilling is real.

PS4. The Dualshock 4 is fantastic, one of the best controllers I've ever used. It's got a great, varied library with some awesome exclusives. I spend the majority of my time now playing the PS4, and the Wii U gets very little use.

I'd say the Wii U is my favorite right now simply because it has the most fun games. The Wii U has a lot of flaws but I forget about all of the flaws when I'm playing an incredibly fun game like Mario Maker. It's also the only console where local couch multiplayer is still alive and well, so it's the console that I play with my girlfriend or when my friends and I get together.

Xbox One is my current second favorite and might eventually overtake the Wii U as it gets more games. Xbox One has my favorite controller, the best online service by far, and my friends are on Xbox, so I buy all multiplats on Xbox One for these reasons. I also use my Xbox One a lot for multimedia entertainment.

The PS4 is definintely my least favorite right now and has just been collecting dust for the last two months since I finished God of War 3 Remastered and wait for Uncharted to be released. The only advantage the PS4 has for me right now is hardware power; but game lineup, controller, online service, and friends are more important to me than that. I've never been a fan of the dualshock controller design, PSN is medicore at best and I've decided is not worth the subscription cost when I have Xbox Live especially given that none of my friends have a PS4, and PS4 has the weakest exclusive game lineup right now and for at least the next year.

Ps4. Has the better multiplats and better exclusives. X1 is just a place to use sling tv (when the piece of shit service actually works) at the moment.

PS4. Better third party games. More JRPGs. Better hardware. The exclusives have been slow to come out but they are coming. The 3DS is my second go to system. Being able to take games with me on the go is something that has been important since I travel distances between Florida and NJ. I also appreciate that it has great Nintendo exclusives as well as some great third party titles like Zero Escape, Bravely Default, Persona Q, Ace Attorney series, SMT IV and etc.

Xbox One. I play mostly MP pvp games and Xbox has a better online service. ( yes I've used both Live is noticable better quality and functionality) i also like the Xbox controller better ( FYI to the guy talking about they had to make another controller because it's so bad, you're an idiot the Elite controller is a different controller with extra paddles and can be customized) I also prefer the Xbox exclusives over the Ps4 exclusives. I'm not a big single player gamer (I don't play fallout, mgs, witcher, souls games) and most of the PS4s big games are single player RPGs.

People say the multiplats are better on ps4 but I actually own a ps4 and have had the same games running on both and they look pretty much the same to me and often run better on the Xbox. Some games you can notice a difference in the shading where the PS4 looks a bit better, but it's not a massive difference like the Sony fans like to boast about. Either way the difference in power is minor to me and mostly marketing hype. For me it's more like the difference between a 970 and a 980, not this huge gap Sony fans like to drone on about.

The other reason I prefer Xbox is because I like windows and having all my devices using the same OS is actually pretty awesome. My Surface Pro, Gaming rig, console and phone can pretty much communicate seamlessly without any extra apps or hacks.

Xbox One. I'm more interested in the upcoming lineup of games on the system and I quite frankly despise the Dual Shock controller design. The staggered analog stick layout of the xbox controller ruined any ability I had to enjoy the DS controller. It simply feels off.

Both of them suck. Considering what they could and should have been this is the worst generation of console hardware ever. We got an appropriate leap in memory amount and that's pretty much it.

Having said that I'm torn over which to buy first. Witcher 3 is the only gen 8 game out yet that I consider a must play. And it's complicated deciding which console to get it for. PS4 has the better resolution but the framerate sucks. X1 has lower resolution but the framerate is better than PS4. Which to get? Right now I'm leaning toward the X1 version but that could change if an update fixes the PS4 version's framerate. Once I have one of them and Witcher 3 it won't be a big deal to get the other right away cuz outside of Witcher 3 there really ain't much I care about. But I do intend to own both of these turds eventually.

The ps4 is absolutely flawless for my needs. I really like the new controller for shooters, massive improvement over the ds3. The system is also blazing fast and offers great performance for the cost. Naughty dog however are what really make the system for me. Everything that they touch turns to gold and I have zero doubt that the upcoming uncharted and last of us games will be classics as well.

I can't justify picking up the other systems at the moment because I barely have time for what I have now. That said I already know that I am grabbing them down the road. I am an xbox fan and I really like what they are doing with the system now and am glad to see the awesome turnaround. Nintendo systems always have gems that can't be found elsewhere, I am talking about the marios and smashbros. Still the kings of their respective genres. And yes, I do think that smash is the best fighting game all things considered.

Minor improvements? You call running a game at a 75% higher resolution, substantially higher settings at four times the framerate "minor improvements"...

PS4 for several reasons:

Wii U up to this point has had the best exclusives, but not enough games overall. It's now virtually dead with only a few more releases left in its life.

Xbox One has been all hot air and broken promises along with the same boring exclusives.

PS4 is the market leader, so that means the largest and most diverse library among consoles for this entire generation.

PS4 will have both the Western multiplats and Japanese games, neither of which XB1 or Wii U can claim.

@nyadc: Personally PS4.

Not only i trust Sony as a company that will keep me busy , again and again till next generation , something neither MS nor Nintendo ever did ( last console Nintendo offered great exclusives up to next generation was SNES !! ) but also Playstation consoles getting some of the best NEW IPs as exclusives/time exclusives every single generation , which i found insane if you ask me and im eager every single generation to see what Sony will come up with.

Even if i was one of the most harsh critics of PS3 AND i never bought one ( though i rent it many times for some of its games i liked or played with friends ) my respect for Sony skyrocketed when ... they fully supported their failed system with insane , AAA caliber titles even few months before PS4 get an official release !! Yes im talking about PS3 ... Just raw respect to SONY.

That happened while SONY was , still is , in a multibillion loss , constantly , for years and years while PS3 was in last place in its respective generation VS competition ! Still SONY delivered under those circumstances ! NEW IPs again , AAA caliber games all over AND support like no other even few months before the official start of next-gen !

How is possible to not choose a playstation console , its beyond any logic ( aside exclusivity taste ) ...As we speak they offered another AAA new ip , Bloodborne and more are coming ( Last Guardian ) with some of their AAA established franchises looking unreal ( UC4 for example ).

As i told before , i didnt buy a PS3 , i live in a place where i can easily rent a console with a game of my choice though i will buy a PS4 on its first serious price cut with UC collection to replay UC2 and play the other 2 i didnt finish , TLOU remake because i never played it and its a damn great opportunity to ( i saw others playing it ) , GoW3 remake because im fan of the series and ofc Bloodborne because im instant fan and want to finish it . If we add GT7 / UC4 / GoW4 / Persona / Ratchet / Last Guardian plus everything else like FF7 time exclusivity etc ... ... Im sold big time

@davem1992: i own everything except a vita this gen, and xbox one has surprised me though most. Mainly for trivial things that bother me on the ps4. Like ability to track hours played, longer battery life, appear offline, change your name, external hdd. Most multiplats currently, and i think in the future i will buy on the one, and exclusives for ps4. I also like that they're in second place in sales, makes Microsoft work harder haha, and their future 1st party support instead of 3rd party.

Valid reasons?

That's perfectly fine and I'm glad you enjoy your Xbox I really do.

For me though MS doesn't even attempt to bring my fav genres to their systems (I love JRPGs and stuff) plus I despise their UI, the controller hurts my hands and I don't enjoy their exclusives.

Rare Replay and Gears Ultimate have been the only games I have personally enjoyed, hate SSOD and MCC.

The Xbox One for all the obvious reasons like games, online, controller, features, etc....

Also it fits me. I have dreams about my Xbox if I am gone too long from it. In my dream I run into the room and embrace it gently.....in slow motion.

@davem1992: i like jrpgs as well, but the last time i really enjoyed them on a home console was snes, and i also liked dragon quest on ps2. Jrpgs on the go are amazing though! Currently rocking them on my 3ds. So, i dont look particularly for jrpg when i look for a console experience, i want "blockbuster, michael bay, and flashy". I am excited to try out p5 on ps4. Wouldn't it feel weird playing them on an xbox one?

Also, a big reason i like xboxone is forza horizon 2 and forza 6. I cant stand how gran turismos been recently and their 5 year long dev times.

Also, a big reason i like xboxone is forza horizon 2 and forza 6. I cant stand how gran turismos been recently and their 5 year long dev times.

I love JRPGs though I do admit that some of the newer JRPGs are shit.

Also another Persona 5 fan, great to see.

I love Horizon 2 myself, sold it for cash though.

It also has the best controller by far.

Am I the only one who gets REALLY sore hands when using the XBONE controller?

Everytime I use it I come out in pain.

That's what happens with me with the PS4 controller.

Its a tough choice, but I go with PS4.

It has over 400+ games to play.

Uncharted is my favorite IP

The hardware is the most powerful this gen, thus getting better multi plat versions most of the time.

PSN+ games are a nice added bonus, which Sony started, which made MS follow.

I prefer the DS4 over the X1 controller

SONY learned a tough lesson last gen and focuses on the GAMER this gen

Hardware was $100 cheaper at launch, while still being the most powerful in the history of video games.

"Xbox One for me....the main reason is I have enjoyed the exclusives more than the PS4'S and have a bunch more to look forward to....the other reason is the functions it brings to the table, I use the console as MS intended it to be used. I use it for games, watching tv, apps because everything is so well integrated. I like having the Xbox One control my whole media center. And yes kinect works great for all of that."

@chikenfriedrice: what he said except I don't have the Kinect. Will eventually get it. Not for the games but for its other functionalities that it brings to the media experience. I see PS4 as the "system of now" (do to its sales) but I see the Xbox as the system of the future. (Both are good now.. Xbox just seems like it keeps evolving with more options/functions/games).

Minor improvements? You call running a game at a 75% higher resolution, substantially higher settings at four times the framerate "minor improvements"...

the framerate is irreverent to the graphics argument im making, but either way there are probably zero(or at least very very VERY few) modern games where youre getting 120 fps at 1440p on crossfired 290s. the lack of gpu grunt and overall shittyness of crossfire being reason 1, and the ridiculously low perf ceiling amd gpus have, even on high end cpus, being reason 2. but yes, the 75% higher res and marginal improvement higher settings have in practice in the majority of multiplatform games are a small improvement. its about the damn same as the 44 to 125% higher res and better settings you usually find comparing the ps4 version to xbone version of games. the 75% resolution actually sits square in the middle of that range. either way NONE of these are generational differences(not even fucking close.) ive already provided an image showing what a generational improvement actually looks like. heres another for good measure

nyadc and hermits idea of a generational improvement

legitimate generational improvement

The PS4 for me. I like the exclusives better and it has a visual and performance advantage on most multiplats. I also think the interface is far faster as it was made for games. You can tell the X1 was built for one thing and tried being something else and it shows.

I'm the same. I recently bought an X1 and I'm feeling that my PS4 will be on exclusive only duty. The X1's controller just feels better and the battery lasts longer, the games I'm finding at more interesting, I've actually got two good racers to play now. The only thing I don't like is the god-awful UI. At the least the PS4's one is slightly more logical. The X1's UI looks like its been designed by a pigeon.

I'm happy having all gaming machines. And this is coming from someone who could barely afford games when he was younger. Being able to play whatever game you want is great.
