The Witcher 3, Mass Effect 2 and it could have been Mass Effect 3 had they not fucked up the ending and had more Miranda scenes instead of the manly Ashley or blue alien Liara as main characters.

@bowserjr123: I really love IX for the fact that it offers an abundance of classic JRPG content in the form of all the side quests and the endless dungeons. It's such a great value for your money if you're into that kind of thing.
Have you played/ heard of Radiant Historia?
@turtlethetaffer: IX was just a lot of fun to play, great game. It's funny that you mention Radiant Historia because I am in the middle of playing it right now (I'm about 17 hours in), I usually just reserve it for when I'm on the go though. I really like how it has its own unique way of redoing events from the past and being able to change the future, it's kinda similar to Chrono Trigger in that regard.
Paper Mario the thousand year door
Metroid Prime
Without a doubt
Unreal Tournament
Best game ever.
Super Metroid
I've been saying that for a long time. I hope something can eventually dethrone it.
Zelda: OoT

Amazing taste in games you guys. Pure awesomesauce.
Personally, I can't say just one game. Too many are so freaking good. I'll add Super Mario Bros. 3 to this list. Still awesome today and it's the game that got me into gaming. DOOM 1 & 2 seriously need a mention as well.
Such an impossible question for me to answer, I started gaming on a 2600 so the amount of awesome games I've played is fairly high. I'll have to pick a few, as I don't think I could just pick one.
Super Mario World
Sonic 2
Resident Evil
Super Metriod
Outrun
Zelda OoT
House of the Dead
So many great games.....super Mario 64, crash bandicoot warped, silent hill 2, tomb raider 3, streets of rage, earthworm Jim, resident evil but I'm biased and nostalgia wins everytime which means I've gotta say abes odyssey and flashback. They are 2 games that make me smile whenever I think of/replay them
Tough call, but going back in memory on about what game was the single closest to my heart...
Dungeon Master 2
I'll add what is probably my second favourite game ever
Everything about this game is memorable. From the gorgeous sprites, catchy voice work and sounds, amazing music and just the general atmosphere, its the perfect RTS in my eyes and it has not aged a day as far as I'm concerned.
Are there deeper RTS's out there? Sure. Are they better than the overall package that is Warcraft 2? F*** no son!!!!
Jesus...
@bowserjr123: Yeah, RH is awesome. Only downside in my eyes is the fact that it's so linear and side quests are tough to figure out without a guide. Still, really great story and battle system, not to mention the soundtrack.
@turtlethetaffer: Yeah true, I also think that trying to figure out how to get past a node is difficult without a guide but other than that, I love the battle system and the characters are cool. What would you consider to be the best JRPGs besides Xenoblade?
@bowserjr123: That's a tough question. I'll break it down by categories.
For great story and ambitious gameplay systems, there's a game called Knights in the Nightmare on the DS. Blew me away and was my favorite game of last generation. It just worked on every level.
For classics, my personal favorite is Final Fantasy VI. The story and cast hold up remarkably well today and the battle system is fun to dink around with.
For sheer breadth of content, easily Dragon Quest IX. Post game is super repetitive since it mostly consists of random dungeons, but if you're into that then that repetition is a good thing.
Then there's a game on PC that is a JRPG like, as in it owes a lot to the genre (particularly Earthbound, which is also good) called LISA: The Painful. Superb writing and weird atmosphere that shouldn't work as well as it does. It's super depressing, hilarious, and often scary too, and it handles all of those tones extremely well. It's my favorite game of the past ten years.
Sorry, I've played lots of JRPGs and find it tough to single out just one as the best.
@turtlethetaffer: Great choices, there are so many of them out there so it's hard to narrow it down and I have heard of Knights in the Nightmare but never played it. Xenoblade is my number one pick but my other favorites are Castlevania Symphony of the Night (if you count it as an RPG), Pokemon Gold/Silver, Final Fantasy VI (my favorite Final Fantasy), Chrono Trigger, Paper Mario, Dragon Quest V, Persona 3, Illusion of Gaia, and several others.
Since I'm starting up Terranigma, I'm hoping that will make a spot on my list.

I was also going to say that Pokemon Heartgold/ Soulsilver are my favorite games in the series. As far as Knights in the Nightmare goes, it's not for everyone. The gameplay is an odd mixture of grid based strategy, RPG, and bullet hell shooters. The tutorial is over a half hour long since it's so unique. But I'd recommend checking it out for sure. Great story, mood, gameplay.
Some other greats on that list too, like Chrono Trigger (I like FFVI more but CT is great in its own ways), first two Paper Marios (especially Thousand Year Door, which is incredibly well written) and DQV. Haven't played any Persona game (only SMT game I've beaten is IV on the 3DS, I still need to play through Devil Survivor Overclocked). I've heard of Illusion of Gaia but not Terranigma, but apparently it's very well regarded.
There's also the Etrian Odyssey series, of which I've played IV and Untold. Both are terrific, although I give the edge to IV since it's so versatile in party making. Slow paced and not for everyone, but I loved them both.
@turtlethetaffer: I heard that Knights in the Nightmare has a high learning curve but it took me a while to learn how to play Advance Wars so it'd be cool to delve into that too. I agree that HeartGold/SoulSilver are amazing remakes, I do like them better than the originals.
Deciding between whether FF VI or Chrono Trigger is tough since they're both so damn good...but I'd definitely check out Persona 3 if I were you, it was different than any other RPG I've ever played and I'm excited to play 4 and then 5 when it comes out. The only gripe I had with the game is that the bonus content (the Answer) was only a dungeon crawler and that you don't have total control over your party members but it seems like they fixed that in 4.
I'll let you know how I like Terranigma, it looks even better than Illusion and I loved that game.
@AznbkdX: I'd definitely get on it. I found it impossible to put down when I was playing.
@bowserjr123: Yeah I've wanted to play the Persona games for a while now. I've heard nothing but great things. Also, ever play Bravely Default?
@bowserjr123: Yeah! The battle system is a more refined version of the one from Final Fantasy V. Like, lots of ability mixing and matching. I also really enjoyed the story, more for its characters than plot since they felt well developed. This is despite the fact the general plot outline is basically the same as the first five FF's (elemental crystals yadda yadda yadda). Also, there are some serious pacing issues later in the game (the second half is repeating shit you've done before a few times over) but thankfully the battles and characters help carry the otherwise redundant second half. Plus, the sound track is killer, the environmental illustrations are great, and the final boss is just fucking epic. If you haven't played it yet, I would. It's not my favorite 3DS JRPG (that'd probably be Etrian Odyssey IV) but it's pretty damn great in its own way.
@turtlethetaffer: I haven't played Final Fantasy V yet but I've heard great things about it and it does get a lot of praise...it's too bad that I have so many other games I want to play through, I even made a list of all of the older ones I wanted to buy lol.
Gosh that's difficult to say.
@bowserjr123: V is pretty fun. It's a lot lighter in tone than a lot of the series, like IV and VI, but it still has decent enough characters (including a villain whose final form is super weird). I have yet to actually beat it (I should get on that) but I'm in the open ended end game stretch. The jobs are fun to screw around with even though there are definitely some that are better than others (although that's the case with almost every job system).
@turtlethetaffer: Sounds cool, I'll have to check it out eventually. I put some good time into Terranigma today which has been a blast, I really like its premise and the game play is just like Illusion of Gaia's which is definitely great. I really want to play Final Fantasy V eventually but I already have about 10 other SNES games I want to play before it.
You already know what my favourite game is.
My second favourite? It's a tie between The Sims 3, Medieval 2, X3 series (Reunion, TC, AP), Guild Wars 2, and Forza Motorsport 4
Very hard question.
PC - Civilization 4 (honorable mention goes to Secret of Monkey Island)
PS1 - Metal Gear Solid
PS2 - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
PS3 - Call of Duty: 4 Modern Warfare
These are the games that really stood out for me in terms of being "blown away" by them. People might turn there nose up at COD4, but Activision made billions out of that game for a reason, they made 8 of them copying the same format. For it's time it was great, especially for the PS3, there just weren't any decent FPS games for that system. I even remember the hype surrounding Haze LOL.
If I had to pick a winner out of them all, I'd say Civilization IV.
Too hard to decide on just 1 been gaming a long time. Pharaohs curse on commodore was my first game , Kenseiden on Sega Master system was first game I really liked I played it through countless times. Played tons of virtua fighter street fighter and Mortal combat . Steel Battalion and it's online only Line of Contact I was hopelessly hooked on for two years it's all I would do beside work and sleep x wife hated it ,lol. Final fantasy many of them,Mgs3 I've played through a lot ,president evil4, Morrowind,fallout3 . All the souls games
I suppose steel battalion LoC hooked me the worst while I was playing it
Have a PC now , Mechwarrior Online really has its claws in me lately.
I really don't know...
It's hard to change..
Maybe Counter stricke? Or Minecraft? Or ? Or Dota2....
But no... the best is definitelly Super Mario 64!! :)))
Metal Gear Solid 2 - I couldnt stop playing the demo back then. Then i got the full game and same thing. Yes Raiden is gey and story got weird, but best MGS i ever played. Collecting dog tags, beating extreme, the awesome cut scenes, all the secrets... what a time.
Killzone 2 - This game was beast online, best ever on consoles. You cant even cheat and use a mouse adapter since it will kill your mouse. A game that actually took skill and made you feel intense gun fights. Definetly not for CoD noobs.
Horizon Zero Dawn - Best game on PS4 and graphics king to this day. Aim assit off and ultra hard is only way to play it though, if you dont you are just a casual. Im beating it again on new game + as i type this.
