Um I don't treat it as the second coming, but the game is better than every FPS I played on consoles except for Golden Eye and Perfect Dark.

Halo made the Xbox launch a success

Halo 2 saved LIVE from extinction and provided addictive multiplayer

Halo 3 just sold well and destroyed PS3 in September NPD. Fan tributes like forge and save films were a nice addition.

Its a mix of gameplay equally blending firing, melee, and grenades. The story is good and is only better if u read the novels.

Well Im not a big fan of the series anymore. Infact, I down-right feel disgusted about it since halo2. But the thing is no matter which halo(1/2/3), I personally love the singleplayer. From the open world, to the multiple ways of approaching situations, to the variety of enemies. Plus, I like the story in a way. Not the whole ridiculously generic "super soldier saves earth" theme, but the whole depth of the story such as the fall of the covenant and how they turn on each other....that kinda thing. Online isnt really my style since I cant stand how many jerks there are/ just how people play in general. But people have different tastes I suppose...

That isn't true. So many people suck at the game it isn't even funny. Oddly enough everyone I know that sucks at Halo likes COD4 and are somewhat decent at it.

play with people like me and you will not have those type of experiences. Using the avoid players helps. It stops pitting you against players who are jerks.

The first one had a good story and gameplay. The other 2 are good, because Bungie adapts to what the online community wants for multiplayer.

Ok thanks beacause i just didnt know why so many FPS's try to copy it and fail... Actually i would like to try forge (if i had a 360)

I would like to try Halo 3 alot to experience 1st hand why its great... Even though im a PS3 Fan (I dont hate the 360 only the Wii) but my parents refuse to let me get a 360 aswell :(

Thanks again

Edit: I alos didnt know it was an open world game that adapts from sequel to sequel to what the people want.

it was the first console shooter to do things that PC shooters had done several years ago, and therefore was praised for being "revolutionary". I will give credit to the game for having very good AI for it's time, but other than that, it's nothing special, and is below average in some categories.

Halo 3 haz amazing enemy AI. Teammate AI eh they toned it down. It was good at once, but felt that it took the player out of the game.

Halo 3 seems to be an example of a game being greater than the sum of its parts. I thought the campaign flowed incredibly well, despite some underwhelming sections. The controls were tight, the gameplay was fun and often very intense. The online is one of few that I actually bothered to play for any considerable length of time. Playing co-op with two of my friends on Live was a great experience as well.

Considering its pedigree I don't doubt it was overhyped by a good number of people. But that doesn't change the fact it is an all-around solid game.

I don't think xbox could have made it without Halo. The AI was like no other shooters that i've played before. I meant, they don't just run straight at you, but also make intelligent decision like take cover, retreat, flank, or even call for reenforcement. Plus the graphic was stunning.

That is because you are comparing it to itself. The first game is normally the best in every series. The real reason I think many people are disappointed with Halo is that they change a lot of things that made the first Halo so great.

From my perspective
Halo 1 brought one of the greatest AI ever made during that time, vehicles that were fun to use and innovative, a superb coop, a open-ended yet linear level structure and backed up with a good story. The lan was also there and provided a very fun multiplayer aspect to it's side. Gameplay wise it brought a great melee system that blew everything else that tried to mimick it away, a new health system and was simply a superb experience despite the naysayers. Lets not forget the orchestral score which was top-notch stuff.

Halo 2 in the otherhand brought a weak campaign IMO and wasnt nearly as fun that Halo brought but thats OK. The multiplayer brought in some great multiplayer features for a console game with stuff like matchmaking with a party system. Play mechanic wise, the gameplay went through some refinements here and there like the no health just regenerating system (Smart move, no need to let the "find the health pack" frustration set-in). Some new weapons were great and very fun to use and brought in the Arbiter which needless to say is a superb character (Think Raiden but done right). The duel-wielding was great fun too. Overall though I felt that there were many other multiplayer games that was superior then that of Halo 2's so needless to say I was very disappointed with Halo 2 despite the fact that it's a quality game.

Halo 3 just "combines" the 2 games. You can call it a reimagining of both Halo games mixed into one and sports some great looking graphics while running in a very smooth framerate. The co-op is there with 4 players this time although I felt that 2 player coop is still better then playing it with 4 (Unless you put on some crazy skulls on, theres no challenge even in legendary). Further customizes the way you can look in multiplayer with different armor parts and more color! It also brought in a satisfying closure to the game and most of all, its just plain fun.

Without saying much its obvious that the original Halo is one of my favorite games, I felt that it did revolutionize the genre and pushed it forward while the other 2 just simply refined the experience.

I found the gameplay in Halo more fun than Half-Life 2. But Half-Life 2 has a much better story, presentation and characters (I love dog). I guess that's why I like Halo so much, it's just fun to play. I also like the story in Halo like the relationship between MC and Cortana, it's nice

Well that means that you play your games from point a to point b...I like thinking out situations. Take out a few patrols silently here and there, then sit back and snipe a few more, then clear the room with a few plasmas...thats what I mean. And for the real huge vehicle levels, I would maybe take a banshee and do a few runs to kill some guards, then get out and get in a turret....get my drift?

You can do that in many games, but its usually not done so fluid like.

Well Said. Halo 3 is the most polished game I have ever seen. Everything works just like its supposed to. The matchmaking is blazing fast, and a huge number of people play it.

The "Sandbox" of elements in Halo is just amazing too. Think of CoD4 and how nothing moves or changes except the cars that blow up. Wow, big deal. In Halo 3 there is way more stuff going on at once. First of all there is all of the respawning weapons, powerups, fusion coils, etc... Everything that you think can move, moves. It is just so much more interesting than all of the other games. There is way more stuff to do.

Forge, and theater mode make even more things to do. There are like endless maps that are going to be made. The fileshare system makes every map easilyaccessiblewith amazing gametype options. Tons of custom games. There is just way more to do in Halo than any other game.

Hmm what should I do.. Should I drive this warthog up into the enemy and wipe em out that way? Wait no im a bigger target that way...on foot? or maybe I could crouch and net some stealth kills by bashing the enemies behind their back.

BTW Halo and Halo 3 CONSISTS of these gameplay scenarios, if you're telling me this never happens then your flat-out lying.

It's just an all-around good FPS. Has pretty much everything that an FPS needs to be good. Great level design, good gameplay, great guns, good story, varied landscapes, great multiplayer, etc. It's not neccessarily the second coming or anything, but still a great game.

I liked that they focused more on vehicle usage in Halo 3. I wished they would do that more for the Multiplayer. It is why I like big team.I hope thye make a new coagolation, Terminal, and turf.

Well I don't really remember places in Halo 3 in which you can just stealth assassinate all/most of the enemies which is a shame because I loved that part of Halo CE so much

Yeah, the vehicles portions in Halo 3 were the best in the series IMO. I felt the third installment could use more optional stealth situations which made Assault on the Control Room my favorite SP level in the Halo trilogy. That level had everything

The beach assualt that started that level was the moment Halo 1 went from a pretty good FPS to a great one IMO.
