Wheres the "I don't give a s***" option?

The question is "What makes you more happy? Higher score on Metacritic or Gamespot?" Not "What makes you more happy?Higher score on Metacritic, higher score on Gamespot, or being a condescending jerk?"
There's also no option for "neither" when you vote for President, just Ralph Nador and the option not to participate in the poll.
So TL;DR is "I like reviewers to have some sort of bias". k.SRTtoZ
There's only 1 thing I like about scores.Games not meeting the hype.Flops.
We don't use MC for that,so MC is boring.
There are games in the A range I've had more fun with than AA or AAA. I really don't let scores choose my games but I like an insight to a game by reading reviews.
I personally would care more about user reviews on MC than professional reviews from gamespot.
There is no system to gamespots reviews for me to care about its scores, but the reviews themselves can be insightfull.
Playing good games makes me happy. Review scores often ignore the things that I look for in games, like being able to sit down, relax, enjoy a game and not worry about graphics, perfect gameplay, a grand story, amazing voice acting.
Sometimes it's just about having a good time.
Gamespot reviews are regarded more as a joke to be quite honest, most reviews on gamespot are pretty much disregarded.
And I could careless what a game scores.
Lost Odyssey has a low 7 score and it was one of my favorite games this gen
Since this is cowville you will see metacritic win out because of dc for the major defeat uncharted 3 took against gears 3 right here on gamespot, gamespot brings the most joy And bragging rights in systemwars, don't let the poll fool youForzaGearsFace
Just an FYI many gears diehards who played MP from Gears 1 and 2 consider gears 3 to be a major dissapointment
Metacritic score is the only thing I have ever gone by. The opinion and score from 1 individual person is absolutely meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
Goofy people take themselves too seriously with the "who gives a crap" stuff.
You're telling me you've never hoped a game would be good, but maybe weren't quite sure, and been despondant when all the reviews came rolling in and everyone thought it sucked?
Or the reverse, you've never been surprised by a flood of good reviews for a game you suspected may be held back by flaws and been happy to find out those flaws weren't as big a deal as you feared in most people's eyes, leading to greater consideration of purchasing the product?
Reviews do matter when your on the fence if the reviews happen to specifically reinforce or mollify your already present fears.
As for the OT, it really depends on the game and the GS reviewer. And the MC score doesn't matter so much as the specific breakdown of who thought it was good and who thought it was bad, as different sites and mags each have their own preferences (some are graphics whores, some are what people might call "pretentious," some hit certain genres harder than others).

And FYI many don't and think its the best of all 3, look at those sales oh yeahI couldn't care less about what the score is. But I see what you are trying to do, and nothing will change the fact that Gears of War 3 is considered by GS to be a superior game to Uncharted 3 in the System Wars metagame.foxhound_fox
This is incorrect. Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3 were reviewed by different Gamespot staff members, neither of which represent the opinion of Gamespot as a whole. Like I said in an earlier post, a review from Gamespot, let alone any other individual site, is just representative of the opinion of that one individual person, which is ultimately meaningless when compared to a meta score which is an average of multiple opinions. A general consensus of something always holds more weight than the opinion of just 1 person, who isn't even representative of their entire individual site.

From Gamespot's review policy page...
But it's not just about personal preferences, either. GameSpot's reviews all go through a rigorous screening process by our reviews team, so you can rest assured that we collectively stand behind and support the statements made in each new review we publish.

All we have to do is see which one gets best TPS in December. Then we'll know. Meta says its Uncharted 3 though :P

While neither review source makes me happy per se, I use Metacritic 100% of the time when I'm on the fence about a game. I don't even use the actual Metacritic score specifically. I usually tend to pick out the reviews from Game Informer, IGN, 1up, Gamespot and GameTrailers, and then I read each individual review and kind of roughly average out the opinions and scores and formulate a rough opinion of the game for myself, well at least the best rough opinion that I can without having even played said game.
I've been reading reviews for games and buying games for 2 decades, and I am pretty sure I know what works for me and what doesn't. I know what sites I tend to agree with and which sites I don't. No individual site is ever 100% in agreement with my tastes, but a combination of sites pretty much is 100% in agreement with me all the time.
Lets just say I've been buying games based soley on reviews for the most part for the last 10 years. Sometimes I get the opportunity to play a game before I buy it, but I usual don't. That said, I haven't regretted a single game purchase in the last 10 years so whatever I'm doing is working out pretty well obviously.

I thought we didnt use Meta scores on this site? The rules changed because Gears beat Uncharted??? I believe the fairest score to go by would be Gamerankings, because Gamespot is a singular opinion and Metacritic weighs some sites scores more than others thus not being a true average.

Probably for both sides, since there is a part of the community that actually pray to god, that the games they hate on the other console get a bad score, which is silly if you ask me.

tormentos
Do they prey for a bad score or just for a flop?
I don't go by scores, I go by the content of the written review. Which is why I only go to GS, or Edge or Eurogamer. They tend to have the best written reviews.
Metacritic? No thanks.I tend to see on there that the critic score can be like say, 90; and the user score tends to be significantly lower. (See Modern Warfare 2 for example.)
Going by scores is silly, the text is where the information is.

i think it's society in genral, it's like the x-factor over here in the UK, people don't watch it because they want people to succeed they watch it because for some weird warped reason they want people to fail, iguess seeing someone else or something else fail makes people feel good abou themselves, personally, i play the games i want and don't put much faith in review scores, too human and AVP are two of the best games i played this generation and i think Haze is pretty awesome as well. Please Log In to post.
