I think if you play any games on the PC. It doesn't really matter how high or low-end your machine is, just as long as you play games your a PC gamer. That's the way I see it anyways. I'm upgrading from my hd6670 to a hd6870 this weekend just so I can play the Witcher at better settings. The hd6670 plays it rather decently, but only on low to medium settings, with a low to medium frame rate. I think that is where it becomes hard to be a "PC gamer", simply because of your machine being capable of playing the newer, more demanding titles. Either way though, gaming is gaming, no matter what platform. I still game on my Sega SAturn, Genesis, T16, and Playstation!!
I'd say someone who plays PC games around the same amount or more as they do on console, and that means games that are more then just Solitaire.
Though I guess its a broadly defined word.

I wouldn't say it's broadly defined, just over-simplified.
To me terms like bookworm, movie buff, and gamer mean that there is a certain level of dedication involved.
Someone who is a bookworm doesn't just read a book every few months, or in some cases less. They dedicate themselves to discovering new authors, and books, and read daily.
Same with a movie buff. You wouldn't call someone who goes to the cinema for a summer blockbuster a movie buff would you?
I think an analogy could be made with the term gamer too. It's someone who is actually dedicated to the hobby of gaming.
So when someone says they're a PC gamer I think most people would understand what that means. It's not someone who just played a flash game for five minutes last weekend, and has already forgotten about it, but instead someone who strives to find, and discover new games, and appreciates the hard work developers put into their products.
Play games on PC you're a PC gamer.
No need to make it more difficult than that. No "lolnodx11 351 HD 10139p monitor? No PC gamer."
Same way I define everyone else. You play games = you're a gamer. It should't be some tag or status that requires approval of their peers lol. It most definitely shouldn't have some arbitrary requirements either.
Play Games = Gamer. Period.
So in essence we're All "master race" gamers.. :|Play games on PC you're a PC gamer.

Yes, we are equals brother.
a virgin, with no social lifereach3
Hmm I consider myself a PC Gamer, yet pretty sure that I am not a virgin. All those sorority girls and 1st years I have hooked up with must have been my imagination then eh? Oh and PS I am a PC Gamer and I am also a frat boy, so pretty sure your stereotype is off. In fact I'd bet money on you being the type of person you described...
As for the actual topic, to me a PC Gamer is someone who just play the more serious games on the PC (so none of that browser of FB games stuff). Someone who lijes the unique genres that are available on the PC, and etc. The PC gamers are not "a master" race, that is a stupid label, and at the end of the day, console and PC gamers are generally alike. Granted I personally would argue that your average PC gamer probably either has a higher IQ/education and/or more income than your average console gamer, but I could be very wrong about that.

Average PC gamer
OhSnapitz
Average PC gamer :P
That's. F*d up..
Average Console Gamer!
Someone who plays PC games I would say. I don't think it must have a super gaming PC, but as long as he play on it..
I game on my PC. That makes me a gamer who games on the PC. I game on the PC less than my consoles still. My Steam backlog is deep. I won't die for any system i love them all.
I see quite a few posts claiming the Hermits are the "master race" and such, but how do you make the separation when we all have PC's.
OhSnapitz
You do realize that "the master race" is just some silly word to troll on consolites right? You do not become a better person only because you play on PC. A PC gamer is just someone who plays on PC and that's all. Is not like you need some kind of invitation to a secret club or something.

Never heard of someone using shampoo to please themselves, so it must be his "thing".

Shampoos gotta sting.
In real life, someone who plays games on PC.
In SW your only considered a "True" PC gamer if you have the newest upgrades and maxed out rigs that you spent at least well over a $1000 on but try to downplay the cost and say you didn't.
It's stupid and not true at all, but that's how hermits think around this place. Just ignore them and keep playing what you like, you don't need to "prove" yourself to anyone but yourslef.
I play games on PC like Morrowind with graphic enahncer mod, but I'm not considered to be a "true" PC gamer around here. I don't care though, I just play what I want to play, upset Hermits can kiss my ass.

Shampoo would sting if it went into the urethra, wouldn't it? :?I assume that it would sting like hell. But why don't we ask WarTornRuston, since he's into that sort of stuff?
Well, first, there's like, this thing call a computer, right? And then like, the owner of this computer, can like, buy games and stuff. Right? So then, like, the gamer install this game, right, and plays it. I think means he/she is a pc gamer...and stuff.ispeakfact
Holy sh*t, the quote in your sig made me laugh for around a minute straight.

- A lot of unplayed Steam games
- Specs in their sig to show off their hardc0re rig
- Condescending attitude towards non-PC gamers
- Gross sense of self-entitlement
That's it, I think. Feel free to add on!
Someone who plays PC games, obviously. All other definitions are vague and subject to personal classifications.
I think the definition needs to be expanded for this site. A "PC gamer" on this forum should be someone who has bought an aftermarket video card to play games.

Does that mean loosingENDS is actually a hermit?
What's up with this loosingENDS guy? People keep bringing him up and I saw some of his posts. He really believes blurry console image and low res makes a better cinematic experience? He must be the retarded kid of the forum. That ain't nothing, newbie. Check this thread of his out. Many a sigs were born of this thread, including mine. :P
