@system-reboot: I'll say this once more that my avatar has nothing to do with my opinion. It's just there.
Not everyone understands leek spinning.

Following doesn't apply to all games but alot of them do have these problems that I don't like :
Cliches
Bad Writing
Over dramatic
Storyline takes itself too seriously
Teenage looking , over sexualized characters
Bad voice acting
Art style
A lot of things:
~furries(they creep me out)
~ having androgynous skinny emo childs with their balls still on their necks as main characters
~oversexualised females that look like they are 10-12
~ridiculous outfits
~ridiculous hair
~creepy mini games(see the yakuza series)
~annoying, comedic relief taking animal side kicks(they usually have high pitched voices)
~female characters with ridiculous and massive breasts(is that supposed to be erotic? it's disgusting)
basically all the weaboo stuff
Not being able to change difficulty mid-game (seems to be a more common issue in Japanese games). A big issue with JRPGs where the beginning of the game isn't representative of game as whole, leaving you to continue to see if the game gets harder/easier whilst worrying whether you should simply start over on another difficulty. Playing Ao no Kiseki: Evolution right now and I've found the game too easy on Hard... but I'm some 25-30 hours in now so it's too late to turn back.
Some others have mentioned cheese... and yeah, there's certainly a kind of dialogue reserved for anime/games, but TBH western videogames have their own Hollywood-flavoured cheese - it's just less noticeable when you're overexposed to it.
