It's the former Raiders coach. I mean, his game is continually at the top of the charts, year, after year, after year.

[QUOTE="l_The_DetoX_l"]Mario is the most recognized but doesn't mean Mario is the face of gaming
That statement right there is an oxymoron.

Mario is no longer a huge seller like he was before. He still sells really well but the GTAA franchise IMO is more of something that stands for gaming today more then Mario.
For something to be the face of gaming it has to speak for it on a whole IMO. Mario was the face of gaming but gaming has grown heavily.
What games industry have yuo been looking at? Mario's selling power is probably better then ever.[QUOTE="shungokustasu"]Easy...Ryu (Street Fighter). Mario is not the face of gaming.Blackbond
Ryu is the face of video game martial arts and fighters. Not a bad title at all

That is pretty rediculous. A character from Street Fighter? Weak. Mario baby. He's an O.G. in this game.[QUOTE="Blackbond"][QUOTE="shungokustasu"]Easy...Ryu (Street Fighter). Mario is not the face of gaming.shungokustasu

If I said name a special move on a video game. 95% will say SHORYUKEN or HADOKEN. Everyone knows Ryu. He was even feature in real life movies (Boyz-n-the-hood). Mario is only know because he was the first video game character with a story. Ryu took that title in 1991. Are you out of your head? Mario is several times more recognizable than Ryu. If you said name a special move from a video game, everybody BORN IN THE 90s would say hadoken. Ryu's series is unfortunately over, and Mario has been exposed to generation after generation.[QUOTE="Blackbond"][QUOTE="shungokustasu"]Easy...Ryu (Street Fighter). Ryu is Waaay past his prime, hell, even capcom gave up on him. :| On the other hand, the last mario game sold 9 million +, that's more than any SF game.Ryu did more for gaming than Mario ever will. That's right I said it.shungokustasuWhat did he do? QC + P? Please. Mario revolutionized 2D and 3D gaming. Plus , his fighting game is by far the most original. :)

And even if it somehow was original, Capcom milked it dry. The SSB games, however, were a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale genre. Also 4p > 2 p. fact.

O-o It revolutionised platformes yes, but it wasn't even close to revolutionising 2D, no where near. Quake was the FIRST fully 3D game, starfox was the first game to have 3D i think and introduced the concept. Mario 64 did do something but you can't give the plumber credit for making 2-D and 3-D, thats an insane remark to make.

EDIT: Quakes engine also revolusionised lighting and online deathmatch. Quake was the game to put mods on the map too.
