What was Sony thinking?!?

I'm sure everyone's seen the new PS4 Slim - holy **** that is one ugly console, almost as ugly as the original xbone... It just looks so cheap I really hope the Neo will be nothing like that and look and feel more like a premium product...

I'm only talking about the design of the console and yes granted the console is to be used to play games on and not to look at and yes PS4 has much superior exclusives, the physical look of the PS4 slim will not preclude Uncharted 4 from being the best looking console game etc etc they could have put some effort in the design.

Is it just me or this is the second ugliest console?

I was expecting the PS4 slim to look something like this:

"damn bitch! that pencil eraser design looks sick. lets design our PS4(s) around a fucking eraser that we used to erase our poorly drawn lines. thing's gonna look tight af under peeps tvs, bruh. Sony; go for it, erasers do look very premium"

How long have you been gaming is a better question there are quite a few consoles uglier than the OG xbox.

Lol my previous post was regarding the PS+ price increase wrong board lol. anyway, it is certainly the weakest design they have made but the PSNoe might make up for it.

Sony needs to hire better designers, plain and simple. I mean look at this amazing Xbox One S along with an Xbox onesie......I seriously want the onesie.

Who gives a shit. Where are the games? Microsoft's consoles are ugly as hell too. Also, the PS3 was ugly to me as well. But really, does it matter THAT much lol?

Yeah, cheers mate, always get the Saturn and jaguar mixed up, probably because they where both equally as crap compared to the PS1.

Personally, i think all consoles are ugly with the exception of the game cube, nice square box that came in many different colors.

The only good "Slim" model sony ever put out was the PS3 Slim 1.

Other than that you should always do yourself a favor and just get the 1st set of Playstations cause they'll always be ugly.

It's no uglier than a smart phone or 99% of electronics.

It's a rectangle with rounded edges, honestly don't see the problem. The main point of this is to be cheaper.

Doesn't look "ugly", it just looks "plain". Someone in the other thread said it looks like a giant Apple TV, and that is pretty close to accurate (minus the slot for optical drive).

That being said, the existing PS4 is pretty odd looking too. I always found the slanted design a bit bizarre and unnecessary. I do think the new one is slightly less "cool" looking though, too vanilla, so maybe they should have kept some elements from the 1st design..

Which brings us to the real reason for the redesign. In Japan, PS4 sales have not been trending as well as they are in the West. Sony has heard a lot of Japanese feedback on the Japanese market's disapproval of the angular and sharp design that contrasts fairly starkly with other high-end home theatre equipment. So, they wanted to "boring it up" with the slim redesign to fit the Japanese aesthetic. It is perceived that the aging console gamer market wants something that looks less like a toy and more like a piece of HT equipment.

Definitey not the ugliest, or even in the top 3 ugliest console designs. To me, it's just completely bland and uninspired.

@SecretPolice: At least the Xbox One and PS4 feel solid and high end. They don't feel like they are cheap. I don't think the slim ps4 looks cheap either, it looks like a solid well built console.

Now the PS3 super slim, or the top loader PS3, looks and feels like cheap plastic garbage. By far the ugliest console I have ever scene.

It's ugly, but it works. It's not as ugly as @flyincloud1116's pajamas though...he is cute though.
