FFX : the first final fantasy game I played and was so hyped about the final fantasy franshise, but when I actually played it I was very very dissapointed.
MGS 2 : the same reason as above, I expected much more from a game series for which people ware willing to buy a ps3
Heroes Of Might and Magic V : It took the fun out of my favourie series :(

Don't let MGS2 ruin the whole franchise for you. I think that one was the lowpoint in the series. You fanboys can go ahead and maul me for 'not understanding teh greates story evar!!!1' and whatnot, I don't care. I understood the story, and I think I would have enjoyed it better if I HADN'T.
Anyways, give the first one a try or any of the MGS3 ones. They are miles better, in my opinion.

=/, i loved MGS2. it had everything
Halo 2, hands down. I definitely enjoyed it, but I was ultimately disappointed.
I also thought Call of Duty 2 was disappointing in comparison to its predecessor.

Oh thanks, i will try it sometimes, as I already have it but never played it. I had bought both MGS 2,3 and was planning to complete both of them back to back but after MGS2 didn't wanted to play MGS3.
metroid primeCaseyWegnerty, casey.
metroid prime was a major disappointment in my honest opinion. after a solid hour of playing (which seemed like 8 ), i finally got sotired of it i had to quit. i just kept waiting to be interested in it and waiting for something intriguing or exciting or something, but it never came. the others that come close are some other "innovative games,"namely katamari damarcy (spell check) and viewtiful joe. they might be "artistic" or "innovative" or w/e, but the gameplay was boring and not fun.
FFX. Huge FF fan, spanning back to NES. Bought a ps2 on launch just to make sure I could get the game. Got it, didn't even want to finish it I was so disappointed. Never had high expectations of FF since then, and with very good reason. DoctorBunny
For me, X was fun, but a revelation that SE was losing it. X-2 only helped to reinforce this assumption.:(

6,7,8,10,x-2, 12, and tactics. I loved them all (cept x-2).
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
My god I read the review "Quit possibly the best 2D side scroller ever."
Then I asked myself. If its so great why isn't it AAA? Anyways the game was a complete disappointment. Why you ask? The difficulty that's why. I'm sorry but when I'm playing good old 2D side scrollers I expect fast action, twitch reactions, and above all else. "DIFFICULTY" This game was so incredibley easy I wanted to throw a glass throw a window. The bosses were easy, the enemies were easy, hell even Dracula and Death were easy.
Death dies in 2 hits and in 10 seconds?
Dracula dies in under a minutes?
The only time I died was walking to the far left of the castle and getting caught up on the spikes because I didn't have the crush armor.
I'm sorry but the easyness of the game killed it for me.

Let me rephrase that; Did you play any of the prior ones when they came out?

negative. I had to go back and pick up a copy of FFX from my friend. so my order of playing would be:
FFX, FF7, FF8, FFT,X-2, FF12, and then FF6 for GBA. For a time I made myself believe that FF7 was my favorite, because the movie was coming out. Then the movie turned out to be complete garbage, so I'm sticking with FFX. Oh and I hated FF8's battlesystem, mainly because i had to sit thru 20 minutes of summoning every battle.

Well, there's your problem right there. You had to really experience the older ones first to really be awed by them. Not back when they were released, mind you (but that would be the best situation), but simply as the first ones you played. Very true about VIII. That's one of the main reasons it's near the bottom with X-2 on my list. And if you thought Advent Children was trash, be grateful you didn't see The Spirits Within.

i saw spirits....ew.
I approached the older ones with an open mind though, and like I said, for a time, FF7 was my favorite. I just like FFX's story and characters the most, and the battle system was pretty fun.
People realize you can cut down on summon animation in the options of FFVIII right? Don't remember if this was for PC or PS1 version but I'm pretty sure the PS1 version had it since that's the one I played.Blackbond
it had to be the PC version man, because believe me, i was looking everywhere for such an option.

I'm guessing it's the former, as I couldn't find anything like that in the PS1 version (and believe me, I tried).
Quite a few actually.
The most recent disappointing game i've played is Sonic & The Secret Rings. I have many more, but I don't wanna offend anyone.

Musta been the PC version then. I completed it on PS1 granted I fell asleep with the controller in my hands 5 times on the first disc. Yeah I forced myself through it. I just wasn't interested in the game and I HATE HATE HATED the battle system. The story picked up real nicely though.

Story was pretty good, but I totally digged the Phantom Train. 8)
Killzone was a pretty big disappointment but the crown goes to Shadow of the Colossus. I was so hyped for the game after all the raving reviews and all i found was an empty boring world, terrible camera and controls, and a game of stab the glowing circles on a giant. :(Carmilla31
i beat it the other night, with no hype watsoever, it was one of the most amazing gaming experiences i've ever had.
