Children of Mana. This looked to finally be the sequel to Secret of Mana that I'd been waiting for, and it turned out to be a beautiful but disjointed dungeon crawler with forgettable music, and uninspired gameplay. It's as if Square instantly forgot all the great things in the original, and just decided Secret of Mana was great because of the damn tree.

KOTOR 2. The story was horrid compared to its predecessor's, the whole 'stay neutral' thing was overused and was a flatout pain in the ass, there were numerous plotholes, etc.

Only real good thing I think that came out of it was Darth Nihilus (sp?).

FFX : the first final fantasy game I played and was so hyped about the final fantasy franshise, but when I actually played it I was very very dissapointed.

MGS 2 : the same reason as above, I expected much more from a game series for which people ware willing to buy a ps3

Heroes Of Might and Magic V : It took the fun out of my favourie series :(

Teh fable on xbox world's shortest rpg missing most of the hyped features after massive delays, it was 10 hours the end no more side quest. Then they dropped fable the lost chapters like 5 months later to milk gamers again what @#$% waste of time and money. I will never buy another fable game again unless Peter is fired and square,Bethesda, irrational games or some other dev takes it over.

Don't let MGS2 ruin the whole franchise for you. I think that one was the lowpoint in the series. You fanboys can go ahead and maul me for 'not understanding teh greates story evar!!!1' and whatnot, I don't care. I understood the story, and I think I would have enjoyed it better if I HADN'T.

Anyways, give the first one a try or any of the MGS3 ones. They are miles better, in my opinion.

Chrono Cross. It was no where near as good as I thought it would be. I couldn't even keep track of the story half the time.

Halo 2, hands down. I definitely enjoyed it, but I was ultimately disappointed.

I also thought Call of Duty 2 was disappointing in comparison to its predecessor.

Oh thanks, i will try it sometimes, as I already have it but never played it. I had bought both MGS 2,3 and was planning to complete both of them back to back but after MGS2 didn't wanted to play MGS3.

Now that I think of it, after GeOW being my biggest letdown, Halo 3 will probably take 2nd. For as "godly" as Halo is, they sure made Halo 3 looks increasingly underwhelming, both in graphics and any sort of gameplay additions.

God of War 2.

For some ungodly reason, Sony dumbed down the combat system, removing some of Kratos' moves and/or replacing his old moves with inferior attacks.

Unbelievable.

Killzone - once I realized how scripted the fire fights were, and that you could kill Helghast (sp) in one hit to the pinky toe with the sniper rifle, I chucked that game.

FFX. Huge FF fan, spanning back to NES. Bought a ps2 on launch just to make sure I could get the game. Got it, didn't even want to finish it I was so disappointed. Never had high expectations of FF since then, and with very good reason.

ty, casey.

metroid prime was a major disappointment in my honest opinion. after a solid hour of playing (which seemed like 8 ), i finally got sotired of it i had to quit. i just kept waiting to be interested in it and waiting for something intriguing or exciting or something, but it never came. the others that come close are some other "innovative games,"namely katamari damarcy (spell check) and viewtiful joe. they might be "artistic" or "innovative" or w/e, but the gameplay was boring and not fun.

For me, X was fun, but a revelation that SE was losing it. X-2 only helped to reinforce this assumption.:(

Castlevania Symphony of the Night

My god I read the review "Quit possibly the best 2D side scroller ever."

Then I asked myself. If its so great why isn't it AAA? Anyways the game was a complete disappointment. Why you ask? The difficulty that's why. I'm sorry but when I'm playing good old 2D side scrollers I expect fast action, twitch reactions, and above all else. "DIFFICULTY" This game was so incredibley easy I wanted to throw a glass throw a window. The bosses were easy, the enemies were easy, hell even Dracula and Death were easy.

Death dies in 2 hits and in 10 seconds?

Dracula dies in under a minutes?

The only time I died was walking to the far left of the castle and getting caught up on the spikes because I didn't have the crush armor.

I'm sorry but the easyness of the game killed it for me.

negative. I had to go back and pick up a copy of FFX from my friend. so my order of playing would be:

FFX, FF7, FF8, FFT,X-2, FF12, and then FF6 for GBA. For a time I made myself believe that FF7 was my favorite, because the movie was coming out. Then the movie turned out to be complete garbage, so I'm sticking with FFX. Oh and I hated FF8's battlesystem, mainly because i had to sit thru 20 minutes of summoning every battle.

Well, there's your problem right there. You had to really experience the older ones first to really be awed by them. Not back when they were released, mind you (but that would be the best situation), but simply as the first ones you played. Very true about VIII. That's one of the main reasons it's near the bottom with X-2 on my list. And if you thought Advent Children was trash, be grateful you didn't see The Spirits Within.

i saw spirits....ew.

I approached the older ones with an open mind though, and like I said, for a time, FF7 was my favorite. I just like FFX's story and characters the most, and the battle system was pretty fun.

I'm guessing it's the former, as I couldn't find anything like that in the PS1 version (and believe me, I tried).

Musta been the PC version then. I completed it on PS1 granted I fell asleep with the controller in my hands 5 times on the first disc. Yeah I forced myself through it. I just wasn't interested in the game and I HATE HATE HATED the battle system. The story picked up real nicely though.

Killzone was a pretty big disappointment but the crown goes to Shadow of the Colossus. I was so hyped for the game after all the raving reviews and all i found was an empty boring world, terrible camera and controls, and a game of stab the glowing circles on a giant. :(

Probably 007: Agent Under Fire. Such a big letdown. Beyond that I'd go with Star Fox Assault, Rogue Squadron 3, WarTech: Senko No Ronde, Shadow of the Colossus, and Sonic Adventure.

Actually wait, scratch my last game. Perfect Dark Zero is without a doubt the most disappointing games I've ever played. The follow up to my favorite FPS of all time and it was so... terrible!

That game made me hate Sonic.

Halo. It was touted as "teh greetest fps of allll timez!" and needless to say, it couldn't even compete with the bottom of the PC fps barrel.shadowrun69

100% agreed, I thought Halo was going to be something special but was a huge letdown.

MGS3. I thought MGS2 was a lot better in pretty much every aspect. Few agree with me, but that is how I feel.BioShockOwnz
I know what you mean. There was parts in it just made the game damper, especially the camo crap. Good game, even.
