It does what the other Halo's have done. Offer an AAA PC quality FPS experience on a console that costs less than the Video card needed to get close to the same results as the consoles.wok7
I spent $200 on my video card 2 years ago. And it's lasted me up until now, and I would expect it to last me till the end of this year. :|

You don't need a mapmaker built into a PC game to make maps for it. Just a waste of space.explicthangnail

Who cares? If nothing else it's a good sign that maybe Halo 3 will get a map maker.

The only reason I brought up Halo 2 PC is because he asked if any Halo game has had a mapmaker. The arguement is about Halo 3 not Halo 2.

Basically, I was saying who cares if it's a useless feature in Halo 2 because it's irrelevant to the current arguement.

Well it seems to me you guys are not asking for much in Halo 3. "If it ain't broke, dont fix it" is all I'm seeing. No surprise though. A simple concept should be kept simple. It's a great game as long it doesn't require too much thinking. It's the American way.

And it seems like Halo haters won't be happy unless Bungie takes the entire core gameplay of Halo and throws it out the window. And even then I think some people would still call it a rehash.

Yeah but what happened to the "tonnes of better PC FPSes" that hermits kept going on about?

-sigh-

I know about PC FPSes. I've played most of them. But when you see the "Halo sucks compared to many other PC games" -- it's got jealousy written all over that statement.

And yeah, Halo sucks on PC. Period.

A really cool needler melee.  Unless of course, they go back to the generic one they had in Halo 2.  Other than that, I guess a decent story.

It's not that we have more FPS's. It's that most people prefer the PC for FPS's.

And Half-life isn't too hot on consoles.

I can already see the hypocrisy from lemmings if this game does not live up to the hype graphic wise. A lot of people are expecting this game to look like the trailer or GeoW good, and if it doesn't, you will see a lot of lemmings say "Who cares about the graphics. This game is awesome none the less." Maybe if this did happen, then they would understand where sheep are coming from when they say graphics aren't everything.

They're the only 2 fps characters even worth mentioning... well there is the Duke, but he's been on vacation way too long.

This argument is sort of stupid cause we've only seen a few of the features that are going to be in Halo 3 so we can't really say what it's going to bring to the table.

So far I've seen a couple new genades (that spike thingie, the bubble probably not new, but polished), and a ton of videos talking about level design.  With bungies past and how much they are talking about level design in the previews I think it's pretty obvious this game is going to have the best multiplayer levels the gaming community has seen for a long time.  It also seems were going to get a couple new tools to mess around with.

One thing that sets halo apart from most FPS is it's emphasis on strategy over skill.  Most FPS reward twitch reflexes, and though halo has it's fair share of skill, and good FPS have a fair share of strategy, I find myself using my head alot more while playing halo than any other FPS.

If Capcom made a Street Fighter 4, you wouldn't want them to transform the whole fighting engine, would you? You'd probably be happy if it were essentially the same game you knew and loved, but with new characters and tweaked movesets.

Same kind of thing here. The amount of thinking has nothing to do with it.

I can't help but see that Americans loves simplicity. From the fast food to electronics. Most products are easy made ready. Soon, there will be instruction manuals on tennis shoes on how to tie them. I'm not saying simplicity is a bad thing, but "Too much of anything can hurt you"

I would like to see SF make a successful transition to 3D but if they can keep it 2D and still make it as exciting as it was when it first came out thats fine with me but I have not seen a high rated 2D fighter in years so everything has kinda gone 3D.  Hell I would happy if Capcom made a new fighter altogether.

A lot of Halo fans (sans fanboys of course) have been indifferent to the graphics issue from Day 1.  I won't speak for everyone, but I damn sure didn't buy Halo 2 for bangin' graphics, and it was still an outstanding game.

FPS games are't ment to require "thinking"... they are required skill... if you want thinking buy C&C......

lol...priceless...I'm showing my friends this post. lol

I have been wondering what Halo 3 will bring in fps market that other fps games won't because as of now I don't see anything that makes it stand out. I have seen Haze, Turok, UT3, Killzone 2, and other fps games that are interesting in their own way but how will Halo 3 stand out when compared to the other fps games coming out in the fall?

odin2019

What are any of those games doing to stand out? We haven't even seen any real Killzone footage. A game doesn't have to break new ground to be excellent.

I didn't any of them were standing out.  Thats why I'm asking about Halo because I don't see it standing out as of now.  Based on what I have seen is that UT3 will have the best multplay online, Turok will have one of the cooler main story modes, Haze will be good without a doubt, and Killzone2... I just through that in there because it has alot of hype and is supposed to be good.

Ok then, What will KZ2 do to stand out? What will Turok do to stand out from its N64 counterparts? All Halo 3 was meant to do was end a trilogy and be a damn good game... not innovate on the genre. If you ask me, Halo is the least of the FPS coming out this year that has got something to prove. Halo CE did nothing knew yet everyone praised it, I really dont see your point in this thread other than to annoy. Theres nothing you can say about Halos impression on yourself and it be fact.. so if your trying to somehow pursade others then you are failing, horribly.

Why wouldn't you want Halo to be innovative even if it is the third game?  Thats what big game titles are all about is what is that you are bringing to the table this time around that was better and over the top than what you brought last time.  As for Killzone 2 well I don't know too much about it except that they are spending tons of money to make the game supposively they have a huge development team working on it but if the game sucks and doesn't live up the hype I won't buy it.  I will just buy Haze or UT3 then.

No your severely misunderstanding what "Innovate" & "bring to the table" means.. Innovate means to do something that has never been done before in a genre. In that case I dont see Halo 3 being innovative. Brining to the table is far different, has Halo 3 will bring an amazing Single and Multiplayer. There is a mighty big difference in what you said.

You assumed a lot in that statement. I do want them to change they fighting engine to a better sprites that will complement they art of the UDON comics. Also, and secondary button command assist like in tekken games. Not bring back new character, but the old ones they left out. So yeah if Street Fighter 4 ever comes out, I expect it to be way different from 3S, otherwise what was the reason of making it in the first place?

Bungie's not new to this whole game-making thing.  Let's give them the benefit of a doubt that they're not just going to slap a "3" on Halo 2 and call it a new game.  If they do, well then we can bash them all to hell.

Exactly, I wish access to common sence was that easy for everyone on here. Regardless of this thread, regardless of how many people a day critisize it each day, I still will have it before they will, I preordered It last August:)

Alright, as a Halo fan, what are you talking about? Halo has never been innovative. Ever. Nobody (with a logical mindset) has said "Halo is t3h innovat0rz!!onenoe!". It's just a FPS that does stuff right.

World of Warcraft? Wasn't too terribly innovative, it just did everything right. A game can just do everything right, and be great, it doesn't have to bring something brand new to the table.

Gordon Freeman.

Funny how he's the only FPS character that anyone ever mentions when the Chief is used as a trump card.

That's because Halo and Half-life are at war with eachother. Half-life is Halo's competition.

Period.

It's not that we have more FPS's. It's that most people prefer the PC for FPS's.

And Half-life isn't too hot on consoles.

Casuals don't. Trust me. They get scared by a keyboard -sigh-.

But yeah. Most hardcore gamers like the KB/M.
