Title says it all. I say Reach because of it's bigger install base on the 360 but GT5 could easily be a system seller too.

This is like comparing the destructive power of nuclear bomb to a door knob. GT5 being the door knob. Seriously, this shouldn't be debatable. tylergamereviewActually almost every GT game has outsold every Halo game, but my guess is that it will change this time around.
Both will be sales Behemoths though.

lol how? You do know GT5 is a system seller. It's like the Sony version of Halo in terms of sales lol.
Gt5 is the highest selling game on the playstation brand ever!! my guess is GT5.. the demo sold 4 milion alone

GT5 Prologue.
Halo is Halo. People continue to buy the same Halo game over and over. Look at hom many copies ODST sold and it was basically the exact same as Halo 3 but with a new campaign and an added mode. Hardly worth $60 but people still bought it. GT5 will sell, but I don't see it making Halo numbers. That being said, if MW3 somehow comes out next year it will probably set another new sales record because CoD fanboys are even worse at buying the same games over and over again.

I'd say GT5.
PrimusGears
 okayz
You do realise that the highest selling GT Sold 14million+, and the lowest sold 8-9 million right?LOL this coming from the guy who has both Halo 3 and MW2 on his xbox 360 :P Anyways, they will both sell very well but it's Halo, it's gonna sell like....Halo!! I am predicting around 5-6M in the first week and about 15-18M in the lifetimeHalo is Halo. People continue to buy the same Halo game over and over. I think that the worst selling main number (not counting demo and x-spec... which sell multiple millions by the way) GT game has sold on par or better than the best selling Halo game. It'd take an exceptionally bad GT and an exceptionally good Halo Reach to get Reach beating GT5 in sales imo.
Hmm. but on second thought I don't know. How many copies did the best selling PS3 game sell? If that's significantly worse (like multiple millions) than the best selling 360 game then i'd say Reach has a shot and i'd give it a slight edge.

I am predicting around 5-6M in the first week and about 15-18M in the lifetime lol but the difference is, that's the first Halo game I've ever bought and the first CoD game I've ever bought so I'm not rebuying the same game every time. I even barely play either of those, especially Halo. You're right though. Halo is Halo. Its gonna sell because it has the word Halo in the title. Just like CoD still sells.Halo is Halo. If this were the 6th generation, it would likely go to GT5. But considering the install base of the two platforms in this generation, sales lead leans more favorably to Halo Reach.

Yandere
What? How is it cult?
I think he means cult as in willing followers and not cult as in commercial failure but a vocal minority feels it's the best thing since sliced bread.Short term Halo: Reach
Longterm: Gran Turismo 5
Cait__Sith
this. the main GT games sold well over 60 million units total.

Oh you know. We live in an isolated commune where contact with the outside world is prohibited, and our ties to our former family and old lives is forever severed. We surrender all our worldly possesions and money to our beloved All Father (Bungie) and pledge our unavering devotion to him. He is our Light, our way, our only Truth. He shows us the path, blesses us with His benevolent wisdom, shelters us and guides us from our lost ways.
Plus the recreation room is second to none :)
I feel GT 5 won't sell nearly as much as its predessecors, mainly and simply because there is a tremendous more variety in the area of racing sims and driving games.
The previous GT have sold tremendously due, in my opinion, mostly to the fact that they had a sole monopoly to the genre at the time, in terms of popularity and accesibility.
Halo Reach is definitely going to be a heavy hitter for microsoft with some incredible marketing that is inevitable, and who doesn't want to play as those full of win Spartans.

Same logic can be applied to Halo. Why buy Halo when you can buy MW2?

I think this is the most logical answer to this question.
Wow, why is this vote as close as it is? Too many people on here praising the PS3 instead of thinking logically about the question. Looking at the consoles sold for each system, the Xbox 360 has a substantially larger install base & therefore will sell more copies of Halo Reach than GT5 because there are more consumers there to purchase it.
It will be close, but I'm going to have to go with GT5; it has more global appeal and the past editions of it have outsold most of the Halo releases.
I guess most of you don't know that Gran Turismo has pretty much always outsold Halo. But maybe it will be different this time. I see a lot of people buying a PS3 for Gran Turismo 5. Its a system seller
People using GT 3/4 as examples need to look at some simple facts.
PS2- 120 million PS2's sold
PS3- 24-25 million
Halo 3 sold 10 million with 30 million sold
GT5P has sold what 4 million?
GT5 will sell 5-6 million best case scenario.
Reach will sell more then 5-6 million.
If this were the 6th generation, it would likely go to GT5. But considering the install base of the two platforms in this generation, sales lead leans more favorably to Halo Reach.

Agreed. Sony isn't as dominant as in their previous generations so that will hurt GT5's sales numbers. Regardless it will still sell to a huge part of the PS3's install base and will contribute to newer hardware sales. The same goes for Halo Reach minus the dominant part and the 360 in place of the PS3.
