Poll What would you prefer? Star Citizen or No Man's Sky? (86 votes)

Star Citizen 56%
No Man's Sky 17%
Neither 27%

What would you choose from two space games? And why?

Both games have any problems: No Man's Sky is boring, Star Citizen has a very long alpha.

@tryit: A game being "grindy", is usually regarded as a bad thing but mostly, in my experience, by non MMO players. Really, it comes down to personal choice I suppose. There are obviously a lot of people out there who enjoy grinding in a game because there are a lot of grindy MMO's with decent and steady player populations.

These days I tend to avoid games with a heavy grinding mechanic but I didn't always.

I can't comment at all on Elite Dangerous, as I have never played it.

so again I say

why would a person play a game for 2000 hours if its grindy and they consider grindy to be bad?

If they dont play the grindy aspects of the game why are they bringing those aspects up to illustrate how bad the game is that they played for 2000 hours?

@tryit: Grinding can be a good thing and a bad thing. For when I'm trying to relax grinding is a good thing but a game needs more than just grinding, and in that aspect Elite is lacking. It's not a bad game and I don't hate it, quite the contrary, I love Elite. What I'm saying is that better games like Star Citizen are on the horizon, and my fear is that once SC releases a more playable build, a lot of Elite players like myself will abandon ship. Elite can still keep the grinding mechanics but they need to flesh out the gameplay so that people like myself that have unlocked most things in the game can find a reason to keep coming back other than grinding.

I am not here to dispute what you claim Elite Dangerous is or is not. I am hear to question why you would play a game for 2000 hours you are clearly with your choice of words not pleased with.

regarding SC, when it comes to things like balance, grind, shallow or full of content you actually have zero idea at this point and are only making assumptions about the future.

I would suggest you focus your gaming experience on the now...not the future. how that works is you dont play what you do not enjoy, do play what you do enjoy.

If you tell someone 'I played that game for 200+ hours' the immediate assumption is that you enjoyed the game, NOT that the game is unenjoyable and has massive problems. The first question that should BLARE in peoples brains if you are not enjoying the experinece is 'why are you playing it then'.if you are playing a game that you feel has massive problems you need to adjust what you play.

@tryit@quadknight: Nah mate, you're just ignoring the fact he obviously enjoys the game but is aware that it's a grind fest, which he also said he occasionally enjoys doing. It's only an example of why Elite will lose to Star Citizen come the end of this year, from someone who plays both games.

Like I said I spent a similar amount of time with WoW, I would never recommend the game to anyone because it's like having a second job that you pay to do.

that is a contraction in terms!!!!!!!!!!!!

'enjoys'

'grind fest' (and grind fest is a bad thing in his mind)

that defines masochism.

there is a HUGE difference between 'I enjoy the game but there are a few things I would like to see them change'

from

'the game is mostly shallow and a grind fest'

the latter the person should not be playing that gmae

I give up, trying to explain things to you is like talking to a wall. What part of "I like the game" don't you understand?

You know it's possible to like a game and still be aware of its flaws right? I've been playing Star Citizen since it hit 2.0 and have put in hundreds of hours in the Alpha alone. Space sims are my favorite genre of games and I've been playing them since I was a little kid. I think I know a thing or two about them and can give my opinion on them. From the time I've spent in SC and Elite I believe SC is the better game. Once the game becomes more playable and open it will be tough competition for Elite if Elite doesn't change for the better soon.

What part of "I like the game" don't you understand?

THIS PART

STATEMENT ONE: 'I enjoy the game

FOLLOWED DIRECTLY BY: 'its a grind fest' (and I have established that grind fest is a bad thing)

NOT

'There are some things about the game I would like to see them improve'

'The game IS a grind fest' implies most of your 2000 hours is spend grinding and you are saying you enjoy that, but its bad.

not hard to grasp

if you like the game stop bitching about it.

a game does not have to be a horrid disappointment and frustration in order for better ideas to be in place, or for another game to be better.

your problem (like so many others) is that your expectation exceeds reality AND you feel if something isnt matching your imagation of what is possible 10000% and doing it PERFECTLY that its a horrid thing.

you need to get that fixed, laterz
