either do you, i know enough to know there is potential, now go play your garbage 4

clyde46

The point is not potential, the point is that any device can have cloud help, inlcuding PS4

So i dont see how it helps xbox one at all, it is just BS and nothing concrete

MS has "cloud" as much as the PS4 can have

The Cloud is an all encompassing term for server based computing. I can store my files "In the cloud", I can render video on machines that far outstrip my current PC "in the cloud". I've done Folding At Home "in the cloud". The whole notion of "The Cloud" is just a buzzword for server based computing applications.

but couldnt server based computing applications evolve? cloud compute and devs having realtime access to your machine not mean anything?

PS4's system bandwidth is 176GB/s compared to XBone's 68.

So, unless your internet is 108 GB/s somehow, then the "powa of da cloud" does not fill a gap there.

XBone has ESRAM.

In theory yes, however in practice given the worlds vastly differing internet connection speeds and stability it is not feasible.

Isn't Gaikai basically a *Cloud* ? Anyway PS4 Hardware will be better for games then anything MS's *Cloud* could provide, from what some people have said it can be used for *Dedicated Servers* and small stuff like that, it won't improve graphics or the physics. It just takes some of the stress off the Console itself or saves Microsoft from putting Servers around the world.

I kinda wonder how cloud will work now. It was designed with the intention of everyone being online but with the policy change developers can not design that way now. I am glad for the policy change but I wonder how they work the cloud thing now.CanYouDiglt

Clouds is a hoax.

What has been main feature has hype about it.?

Yeah AI.

So the Tittan Fall will have incredible AI and is only possible with the cloud.?

Tittan Fall is a multiplayer only games is not single player so what make Tittanfall impossible on other consoles and what the AI will be use for since there are no AI controlled enemies.? CD.?

You do know that the "Cloud" is just a buzzword for dedicated server right? MS will still have to set up servers all over the world so people from different regions have little to no latency caused by connecting to a far off server.

Yeah and only 32MB of it has 102GB/s speed while the whole memory on PS4 has a 176GB/s bandwidth, you can add bandwidth no matter what DDR3 on xbox one is 68gb/s,only the ESram has 102Gb not all the 8GB memory.

GDDR5 offers definite advantages where as much of the cloud's advantages are pretty unseen. Cloud very well may be the future of gaming, I just don't see that occuring. From what research I've done the subject it really seems like cloud relies on consistant internet speeds. A lot of ISPs in the United States throttle internet connection as a way of saving money. I just don't see cloud gaming as a reality until internet speeds for the majority of gamers have advanced far beyond what they are today.

As of right now cloud is a lot of Microsoft hype based on what if scenarios.

Add to the fact that a lot of the ISP's already have overloaded infustructures which are struggling to cope with the current level of traffic, I don't see how they would let something that is using constant bandwidth fly. Considered most throttle back likes like bittorrent.

Gaikai uses a massive number of monster gaming grade servers that are designed to render and then stream out PS3 and other Sony titles as you most likely will already know. There is minimal differences between Gaikai and another streaming service like Netflix. They are essentially one in the same, content is stored online or "in the cloud" and you (the client machine) is requesting that information. What MS is seemly doing is setting up a client/server model that is in constant communication with each other, sending data to and from. In theory this will work however where it falls flat is when that data reaches the actual internet. As you will most likely know, ISP's will limit data either based on protocol or I'm assuming packet count/size. I'm struggling to see how MS is going to get around this massive issue because if an ISP see's a massive number of packets releated to one service, i.e. bittorrent, they will come down hard on it and throttle the hell of it.

i just cant think they know something we dont. I cant imagine them just using buzzwords if there wasnt potential and just trying to decieve the public. I think once it was a reality, now in jeporody because of losing always on, it might of shown some cool advantages. The idea of drivatar impresses me, the idea that sunset overdrive will be updated daily according to the dev with new scenarios add ons whatever they do. who knows we all really dont know, but i like esram i think its more capable than people give it credit for so ill go with the hope of the clouddddz

Thats just a dedicated server with a fancy name. Just look at Steam where updates are pushed out daily.

Serious question. Which would you truly have?

Mr720fan

You do realize the cloud isnt exclusive to microsoft right?

Millions of companies use "The cloud". So does PS4. So it has the superior memory and cloud.

We have no idea what microsoft will actually do with 'the cloud'.

We (well, some people on this board...) actually know what ram and bandwidth means.

'The cloud' will probably end up like 'teh cell'.

I'll stick with real hardware thanks.

(Not that i'm buying either at launch)

Several developers came through explaining that the CLOUD is nothing more than dedicated servers... something that exists for more than 10years.

The difference is that the servers are dynamically controlled by MS and provided to publishers by MS.

Their system can automatically assign or remove servers to a game depending on the number of players logged in.

The computation skills of the cloud servers are nothing new to this gen, its things that dedicated servers have been doing since they existed for MMOs, matchmaking, AI, background animations, nothing really NEW and AWESOME.

Local power is still more important, and GDDR5 gives a console more power for high res texture streaming than DDR3+ESRAM.

I cant really see how can there be a doubt between the power of GDDR5 vs CLOUD.

Did MS really make the CLOUD sound like something groundbreaking and revolutionary? There is nothing new about dedicated servers what they can be used for.

Dont forget the price people will pay for them.. maintaining dedicated servers is expensive, they are usually only used for multiplayer scenarios and usually come with a price of nagging micro-transactions in the games.

Dont expect a single player game to use the cloud at all.

Dont expect 3rd party games to use it because only the X1 version will have access to it and would be a waste of developing time since the PC/PS4 versions wouldnt be able to use it.

Yeah AI.

It's not a hoax...

I would too if I was still building PCs for gaming. It will in my opinion be better with mouse and keyboard. Maybe I should stop my PS4 and XOne orders and build a new PC. Hmmmm. Only thing is I do not know a lot of people that PC game anymore and will have more people to play with on Live.
