I played the game briefly before when I visited a friend, but I finally got around to renting it yesterday, after taking a pretty long break away from my consoles.

I don't really see what everyone thinks is so great about it though. So far I played about 45 minutes into the game, but after that I was starting to get bored. Graphically the game is absolutely amazing, better than pretty much anything else I've played on consoles, but as far as the gameplay goes I just wasn't feeling it. The level design felt boxed in and linear, the controls felt pretty clunky, and I just couldn't get into shooting. It didn't really feel like anything special in this aspect, and I don't know the Killzone story well enough for that to especially interest me.

What's so great about Killzone, aside from the graphics?

It's really just the last level that is so great.

That and the insanely fun AI on elite difficulty.

Killzone 2 is great imo because it has a solid campaign with half decent friendly A.I, and lasts about 7-8 hours, better than the usual 5-6 hours. Plus it's online mode is additive and has some really great maps. Also everything about the game is just so polished, while it may not make any new ground for the genre it just takes everything good about the genre and combines it into one wonderful highly polished game, just like COD:4 did. That's why its an awesome game.

You always seem to criticize games you briefly played, but anyways its pretty but its an average shooter at best but that doesnt stop it from being enjoyable mind you.

I liked it. It has good graphics and the gameplay wasn't honestly that bad at all. Sure the controls take some getting used to, but I didn't mind it at all. I thought it was a great game, deserving of the 9.

Well, the problem is that you only played for 45 minutes. It's no secret that KZ2 takes some time to get used to. Play more and you might change your opinion.

Is everyone NOT switching controls to Alternate 2? Cause after I did that I didn't have to "get used" to anything. It pretty much plays like COD4 after that.

I love how they act like every game is this polished gameplay wise. Considering how much crap is on the market. A fun game with good controls should be welcomed in everyones home. COD4 is just as generic and I don't see anyone else complaining about it.

Im able to get use to the controls but it feels harder when playing another fps before you pop in kz2. I suppose the way the gun moves in kz2 when he walks is more realistic and that mess's me up

What I like the about killzone 2 is the mixture of the graphics and gameplay, sound and all that stuff. The shooting is real intense and the way the enemy goes down with all that blood flying everywhere, his limbs flying about, all that constitutes for this intense experience. The huge, massive scaled levels lend to it's intense experience and how all this stuff is going on at once, like the explosions, the men shouting, guns blazing, and on some occacsions, the lighting striking. Its just it's intensity that draws me in.

An epic scope I feel Halo 3 promised but never delivered. I guess intense, crazy, hectic fun isn't enough for some people.

The graphics, gameplay, campaign and multiplayer are all superbly polished and a lot of fun. You should really stick with the game, the game picks up a lot after the halfway mark. Some parts of the final level are the most accurate depiction of war I've ever seen (the fight outside the palace entrance was insane).

One thing people often forget about KZ2 is its AI, which is easily the best I've ever seen in any videogame.

I get ya. I played through it once, and while it had a few "whoa" moments, I couldn't help but feel slightly dissapointed at the end. Also the mutliplayer was..eh.. "sub-par", what the big deal with it is, I really have no clue. CoD4 and Halo 3 are really much, much better games, regardless of what cows would try to have you believe.

If you're a fan of shooters. I don't see how KZ2 doesn't satisfy in every way a shooter could. 99% of them are generic and not special. If its not BROKEN its special in my book lol.

its called multiplayer...seriously who buys fps's these days that have both single player and multiplayer for the single player experience? im sure quite a few..but killzone2's multiplayer easily outshines SP.. its very fun and addictive online. YOu have to get at least an hour into online to 'feel' it..

Single player is great, AI doesnt mess around especially on elite, Visuals are great especially the enemy animations and deaths, so satisfiying to get a kill in campaign and multiplayer. Multiplayer is to me Above Average, ranks up there with BF2 and CoD 4 on pc to me, right now splitting up my time between CoD4 and KZ2 multiplayer atm, like the class system and their different abilities, oh and the way the website tracks stats of your matches, and little top down video of your most recent match, nothing like watching a match you had play out and watching your dot pull off a 190 meter headshot.

the sp was okay for me, a little easy until the end. lots of action, not as much as call of duty, though. mp...eh...not so great. the kill lag was annoying, some of the maps were way too big, and the gametypes were limited and not as fun to play as halos or cods are. overall its a solid game, but not something id stop playing better fps games online for.

I don't see why everyone says the game is so great looking. The gun and character models are great, but the world itself is among one of the most bland and ugliest I've ever seen in any game. Pretty much every level is so dull and gray/brown.
