Whats the best Final Fantasy game?

With all the hype over Final Fantasy XIII its only fitting to look at the past games to see how far the Franchise has gone, and how great it has been. So the question we have to ask now is. What is the best of the best? Now this is a hard poll to make. I mean there have been many Final Fantasy games in this Franchise, but I'm going to choose what have been the most popular with the fans. But If I miss your favorite I'm very sorry, and I don't want you to be offended by its absence.

Final Fantasy: Was the game the booted up the franchise the company into the giant it is today.

Final Fantasy 6: One of the best 16 bit rpgs games ever made, only rivaled by Chrono Trigger.

Final Fantasy 7: Do I really need to explain why its great?

Final Fantasy 8: A huge technological leap from ff7.

Final Fantasy 10: The first Final Fantasy on the ps2, and a much more intuitive battle system than its predecessors.

6 is the best. They still have yet to top it.

4 is the most nostalgic for me personally, especially since I'm playing through the after years now which is pretty great.

I really liked 9 too, but it's not on your list. Very under-rated game. Vivi is one of the best characters ever penned for a final fantasy game.

It's called Final Fantasy IX.

Though I love Final Fantasy Origins as well.

I'm gonna go with Final Fantasy VII and subject myself to a lot of hate. Great characters, an interesting plot, a poignant death scene that had a huge impact on the story, great optional quests and the materia system. Overall the most complete out of all of them for me.

And then Advent Children ruined it. But, w/e. VII, for me, is still the best.

Crisis Core eases the pain a bit.

Neither of my top two from the series are on the list. My personal top five would go something like this:

1. Final Fantasy XII
2. Final Fantasy IX
3. Final Fantasy VIII
4. Final Fantasy IV
5. Final Fantasy VI

XII and IX either get way too much hate, or not enough respect as great entries in the series. The discontent for XII is particularly confusing to me. I mean, yeah, the Gambit system made the game almost play itself after a while, but that's why you could choose whether or not to use them. :?

I think that FFXIII is actually the highest quality FF to date, but it's far from being a title that everyone will fall in love with (including me).

Heh FFVI is my personal favorite but IMO. from IV to IX (excluding VIII can't stand this one) are the best.

Well Tactics is sort of a SRPG spin off.

FF VII, duh.

I love you just for the mention of Mystic quest, one of my favorite RPG on SNES and yes the music is really hard to top.

Final Fantasy 6 but you should be arrested and thrown in jail for not including Final Fantasy 9.

and for those talking about Mystic Quest. I'm with ya guys Final Fantasy Mystic Quest had the Best Music ever!

IX was hands down my favorite, it attempted to fix what VII and VIII ruined, a good name.

VII is definitely my favourite, followed closely by VIII

I hold all PS FFs in equal (and incredibly high) regard. But X is a personal favorite for me.
