Most of us FFIX fans are confined to what we call the Internet, unfortunately. FFVII and FFX fans are far more because not only have the games sold the most, but the gaming media supports their claims in saying FFX and FFVII are the best FFs, and the compilations and constant love FFVII gets is only proof of this favoritism, while FFX received a direct sequel. As for FF8 and FF6 fans, they're quite a lot of 'em but they're not as vocal as their FFX/FFVII brethren. i'd venture to believe there are even fewer of us FFXII fans, and the earlier FFs save for FFIV, which has a healthy fanbase. Doesn't matter though - I've enjoyed all numbered FF games, but IX, IV, and XII are my favs.

Than why is it when ever FF is referenced its always ether 7 8 and 10? If something is truly memorable about a game(or movie, but thats off topic) its worth referencing ether by comparison, or parody. FF9 for me was like watching a lame spin off show, or filler episode of my favorite anime with all the noteworthy themes boiled down to stereotypical bowls of mush for the die hard fans. To clear up that torturing metaphor for those whom didn't understand. Its fan service.

You seem to be thinking your opinion is fact. IX was a lot more memorable for me and for many others rather than "7,8 or 10".

What may be an opinion to someone may by a fact for someone else. Really, no one I hang around with likes to talk about FF9 whenever FF is brought up. Its hardly ever spoken around me which is why it wasn't on the poll, and why its a fact for me to believe nothing was special about it. But it would be an opinion to someone whom actually is around ppl who think, and remember such things.

[QUOTE="Lable1985"] FF9 is forever just a kiddy game to me. To its credit it had good gameplay. hakanakumono

Besides the obvious design in graphics, how is FFIX a kiddy game?

FFIX is more juvenile in it's presentation than other FF games. Sometimes the plot can also be pretty Juvenile, like the portion in which "you're not alone" plays in FFIX.

So loneliness is considered juvenille, but Cloud's constant talks of feeling inferior and not being good enough isn't? Or what about Tidus' hatred towards his father? That seems pretty mature as well. So mature that they devoted a whole CGI cutscene to him tearfully telling Jecht that he hates him.

Actually I think that's the reason I don't like FF9. Other games in the series had much more mature themes, and the lighthearted silliness of FF9 was so jarring to someone like me who had gotten used to the deeper themes & subject matter of the other games Like 7 8 and 10. BTW I played 10 before 9 if its any consolation to the time frame in which I played the games.

Questioning one's identity and one's mortality is an incredibly mature subject to tackle, and Vivi must deal with both in FF9.

You people are dense. Its clear as day that I hate the FF9, so why on earth would I put it on there when I don't like it. Wouldn't you think I would leave it off the poll on purpose by now anyway?

The poll should have FF9 instead of 1, but i wasnt gonna vote on it anyway. My favorites go like this: 1- FFX 2- FF9 3- FF7 4- FF8 5- FF12 6- FF6 FFXIII will probably be on top 3. By popularity it goes like this: 1- Either FFX or FF7, more likely FF7 2- FFX 3- FF6

Why would you ask what the best final fantasy game is when you exclude great ones like 9? considered by many as the best

just because you dont like it doesnt mean anyone else wont:roll:

It's a pretty bad poll if you don't have some way to include every FF since everyone is different, not just your personal favs :?

Seriously? Vivi, a child, learns his existence is artificial and will only live for a year. It's one of the most mature themes ever touched in a FF game.

I have an interesting question that I've never gotten a good answer to, and I hope not everyone ignores it.

What's with all of the hate for FFXII? Is it just that it's so different? It's not really broken in any substantial way. :?

It wasn't loneliness, it was an out of character move by Zidane to have all the characters to come together to "show teh power of friendship." Before you think I'm unfairly singling FFIX out, I would say that FFXIII can be similarly juvenile at times.

FFX was sort of weird in that regard but it wasn't "juvenile." A recurring theme in FFX was that Tidus needed to gain the courage to confront what was bothering him or he would never get past it. As it turned out, Tidus was being a little unfair towards his father after all.

I thought it was too easy, didn't like the characters, enimies just wern't very interesting, no jobs, no mini games, no tactics. Solid game though, cool battle system that wasn't used to it's full effect. Pretty much the opposite of everything they got right with XI Online. Thats just my opinion, you asked.

It's funny how FFIX fans never realize that FFIX is the most popular among fans right now. Just take a look at this thread. 80%+ of the posts have been about FFIX.

The hate is exagerated. I doubt anyone really considers it a bad game. It just didnt had, lets say, FF magic on it. The story tried too hard to sound serious and good, the soundtrack altough great for a normal game, it was unmemorable for FF. Then you got Vaan and Penelo. The battle system was boring and too much automatic. They removed the old FF summons, Shiva, Ifrit, Bahamut....

Zidane had just learned that he was supposed to be an angel of death. Don't really think that was an out of character reaction all things considered.

lol, I'm not gonna argue with you or anything, you just responded to my question honestly so no need for any sort of hostility on my part. Thing is I just happened to love the game. Hunting down all of the marks and such was a blast and I felt like the voice acting (as well as overall presentation) and the world itself were among the best, if not THE best, the series has ever had to offer. I kinda ignored the gambit system for my main character though, since that would have potentially made the game insanely boring. License board? Good stuff, I had no problem with it. But I can see why you'd think the game isn't one of the best FFs too I suppose.

Not quite, me and my friends make theses polls each week. Just to clarify we're all pretty bias towards very different games, genres, and consoles, so its weird to see that they all dislike FF9 like I do. Heck, back when I made the mgs polls I would have left out mgs 2, and went on to deal with all the hate responses, but a few Raiden fan girls would have killed me.
