[QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"] [QUOTE="laughingman42"]I used to be so good at R-typeIII (and Shoot 'em ups in general) but I just bought in on the VC and I can't even beat the second level:cry: games today have gotten so easy compared to what they used to be.laughingman42
Not they haven't. goddammit. People don't play them anymore so they just live with their memories. What is the last shoot 'em up you played that is so easy compared to R-Type III exactly?
Try playing Gradius V and see if you ever finish it, if you can't even handle the slow R-type III. or Border Down, or Mushihimesama. Hell I could go on mentioning them all day long.
I honestly can't remeber the last time I actually saw a shootemup on stoor shelves.
That's my point. A lot of people don't play them anymore, so they only know about the old games. How can they compare them that way then?
Many recent or new games are better hard games that the hard games of the past. Many of the old hard games were only hard because of their archaic design, awkward controls or mechanics. Though of course there are a lot of excellent old hard games.
Newest games are more geniunely hard. And present a more enjoyable experience.
