I am a adult with a job to support my hobby if I want to spend moneyto get the best possible gaming experience on my pc what's it to you ??

I also do alot of video encoding for my friends who are intosubbing anime and for myself to back up my video collection I also do alot of audio encoding for my music collection. People give me money to do encoding for them I seem to be in demand as a person who does good work fast. Even without that stuff I get chills how fast my pc moves I just like to bench it for the hell of it I just like power. It's not like I am starving taking the bus to work and running late on my mortgage to buy pc parts so what's the harm ??

Some people buy jewelry, some rice their cars, some do drugs I like gear.

Whats wrong with spending money on your hobby?

Nothing wrong with it, but some of these highschool kids are posting their system specs and it is mindboggling. Even at OEM prices, $500 dollar video cars, $700 dollar CPU/MOBO combinations, 3 or 4 100+ GB SATA drives, 4 sticks of 1 GB lightning fast memory at $150+ a pop, and that is just scraping the surface of what they spent. You get into water-cooled cases, commercial grade NIC cards, and widescreen monitors, you easily get up to 2 or 3 grand. Did these kids pay for their own rigs?

If you scrimped and saved all year for that rig working a minimum wage job, you wasted it IMO. I know when I was in highschool...many...many years ago, if you didn't have a car, you didn't have a girlfriend, which means you didn't get laid. Maybe computer games is enough for some of you guys.... but I take care of necessity before I take care of my hobbies.

Heck, I have the money now and I still wouldn't spend it on a machine like that, some people would, and that is fine..I guess. But if that is all you have to show for your hard work, then your priorities are screwed up. And THAT is the rather large niche that consoles fill. People who view gaming as a hobby, instead of a lifestyle. Maybe instead of flaming them for it, you should take a long look at your gaming expenditures and re-evaluate them. Even when I was in college getting student loan money on top of scholarships, living the high life, I spent my extra cash at the bars and on spring break. The the memories and friends I got from it will last me my entire life, much longer than a memory I have of beating Altered Beast level 1 in a minute 37 seconds.

Xbox Live is full of whiners, take Halo for example, when you kill them they graon or whine, or call you a **** .... then you got the kids signing ... the only decent thing I have ever heard is "Good Game" at the end ... absolutely no need for Microphones on the 360 besides grief... if your any kind of gamers you should be able to work together with or without with logic.

As apposed to World of Warcraft in PVP/Raiding where Voice communication is 100% needed for success.

When it comes down to it, it has to do with time spent gaming rather than money spent. There is a reason they call hermits "hermits" instead of "moneybags".

I keep seeing all these anti-pc gaming threads poping up are sheep,lems and cows mad they can't play the crysis beta ??

Could they be mad halo 3 has fake HD graphics (along with many other games) ??

Could they be mad hermits have the most AAA and AA games ??

Ever heard of a hobby? Money isn't an object with a HOBBY. Build the rig, maintaining the rig, playing the games, etc. It's all a HOBBY. Believe me there are WAY more expensive hobbies out there(I sail also and spending $4000 on sails and $10000 on a boat doesn't make my wallet happy but I enjoy it so....).

I have a friend who got a 42" LCD TV for around £1,500 (which roughly equates to $3,000) for gaming on his 360. Am I now to assume that all console owners will be spending $3,000+, and those that dont spend $3,000 on a 42" LCD TV will be having a horrible experience playing games on their consoles?

That is the logic most console owners on System wars seem to have. They seem to think that you need to spend 1,500+ to be a PC gamer, and anyone that spends less than 1,000 on their PC suffers from a horrible gaming experience.

Indeed, I'm 19 now, similar position, althoguh I'm a student I got a decent part-Time job, when I see my mates I go out isntead of dragging them around a TV playing games (Althoguh some of them like games, we general play online when there is nothign else to do ).

Using consoles as "more social" is a load of crap, I have friends in many different towns now since Ive been traveling long distance from College ... yet we play alot of online games. I still see my local friends ofcourse but never really stay in and play games with them.

Considering less than 1% of the PC gaming community would be classified as modders, I would say calling the entire group 'creative individuals' is actually quite laughable.

I think most of us could be considered PC gamers considering all of us probably play a few games on PC. I would fair to guess most people on here have systems at least good enough to run HL2 on medium settings. So, given that, is anyone who has ever played the Sims on their E-machine a hermit? My grandmother plays solitaire, well she did before she died, on an old laptop my mom gave her. Was she a hermit? Obviously there must be more to being called a hermit than just playing PC games.

I play Forza 2 and Madden '08 on Xbox 360, and CS:S on PC because IMO each type of game fits the systems' strengths the best. Some people actually prefer Halo 3 to CS:S TF2, believe it or not, and I'm not exactly certain you can say that they are idiots or lesser gamers for feeling that way. I have friends that can't coordinate a mouse and keyboard to save their life, and while it's true they can play with a controller on PC, doing so on any public server against a bunch of seasoned M & KBers would be a lopsided embarassment. So why the elitism?

Maybe I just don't get it. When I think of hermits, I think of people that spent REAL money on their machines and obsess about running the newest games at the highest settings. If any old PC gamer is a hermit, then we might as well get rid of the whole c1assification.

But everyone does care about the uber-sweet games .... because they Hype Mario Galaxy / Uncharted / Mass Effect / Killzone .... whatever you name it .... they hype it, and they make trheads "PC gamers will never have these GAMESZ LOLZ" just as much ... it works both ways.. I fail to see why you are singling out PC for this. After all Ihave seena lot of console gamers on the net who spend a lot of money on huge LCD HDTV's, top of the range surround sound systems just for their gaming. As much as people would like to belive that most PC gamers are like the person you describe, while also beliving that most console gamers spend only $400 on thier console setup, this is far from the truth. Also take into consideration that there are those that buy all three consoles (PS3/360/WII), that there is already $1,000+ without accounting for the expensive TV and surround sound systems?

Most of the time I ignore the stray comment in passing but when I see threads open up saying console gaming is above pc gaming,pc gaming is dead, pc gaming cost 5k, pc games online sucks ect then of course I will not stand by. Most are little kids with no facts repeating myth's they heard but some really think consoles own pc gaming because they just started gaming on the ps2,xbox and are just clueless.

They get a new 360 see 720p (or what they think is 720p) and game on live then think it's the world greatest. They say stuff like pc has no friends list, consoles have more AAA games, consoles have better graphics, consoles have more exclusives,consoles have more gamers online,pc games are full of cheats,you can't ban people on pc games ect and hermits have to set them straight.I wish there was a sticky so Ii would not have to repeat the same thing over and over again (throws hands up) where I could just sent the unwashed masses to read up.

Not everyone wants/cares about "uber sweet" graphics and FPS, RTS or MMORPG. So because someone chooses to get a console such as the Xbox 360 or PS3, they're bashed because they somehow are settling for second best?

Maybe hermits should see past their arrogance and view things in a different perspective.

PS: Don't attack every consolite because a few oddballs like Reyes360, TkLive and a few other ignorant hardcore fanboys bash the PC. Not every consolite is like that.

Ok, Just did. The 1st ones are from a PS3 forum, so that can't be trusted to anywhere near accurate.

The next one says PC Gaming declared Not Dead Again

then "Is all of PC gaming dying? No

Then theres the gamespot forums (you know...the one we're on now)

and theres a quote about enjoying console gaming makes your IQ that of a glass of water???

I keep seeing all these anti-pc gaming threads poping up are sheep,lems and cows mad they can't play the crysis beta ??

Could they be mad hermits are playing TF2 ??

Could they be mad halo 3 has fake HD graphics (along with many other games) ??

Could they be mad hermits have the most AAA and AA games ??

Clould they be mad live cost $50 for p2p gaming with crappy audio and limited players??

Could they be mad hermits have free mods ??

Could they be mad most console gamers don't even have a HDTV ??

Could they be mad hermits also have consoles and can play whatever they want ??

Could they be mad about the dx10 graphics on pc or hate our quad core cpu's ??

Just a few of the reasons I have seen from the console fanboys they all seem mad at hermits like we smacked their mom ??

Why all the hate or is it just pc envy as pc's get better and better while their favorite consoles stay the same ??

Actually, consoles want to be Macs...not PCs. User-friendly is a big selling point of consoles....not so much with PCs.
