WELL...
1)I have a 360. Most of the games I want are multiplats(like Call Of Duty and Rock Band) or aren't even ON the PS3(Like the Banjo-Kazooie remakes, Halo Wars, Castle Crashers, Mass Effect 1 and so on).
2)XBOX Live might be filled with annoying teamkillers in matchmaking(I met one today in CoD:World At War, MG42ed me and then knifed me while I was down while slurring expletives at me...no idea why, but I filed a complaint on him. Something with Shanker in it, and his clan tag was L33T. =/), but only one of my actual friends own PS3s, whereas virtually all of the rest own 360s, so...XD
3)I'm 14 and my parents aren't exactly the richest. As such, I'm not in a position to spend $400 I don't have on a gaming console or ask my parents for $400 for said console. Plus I'm in need of better guitar gear, so even if I DID have $400, I'd be spending it on some relatively fancy amp or whatnot.
4)My dog ate it.
...NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND?
Regardless of if Sony loses money or not, the PS3 was and is an expensive console. The PS3 is at its lowest 400$ this was the price of the 360 at launch, Blu-ray players run at like 500-1000 dollars on their own, the PS3 has one, add how long the PS3 lasts and I'm pretty sure thats a decent *inexpensive* price for what you get.[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"][QUOTE="lil_zelda_dude"]
I hate how people complain about the price, don't you people know that Sony loses several dollars every time they sell a PS3! Of course I think the PS3 would have been fine without the Bluray player which probably would have decreased the selling price(but thats what makes some people buy the PS3 in the first place).
lil_zelda_dude
i got a blu-ray player for £119 a few months ago :/ bit over exagerated there dude.
i own a 360 and wii and am happy with those 2...the ps3 has some good exclusives and will get one later this year prob
Not really, only games I want are MGS4, Killzone 2, and Valkyria Chronicles and thats only three games. Price is still a big factor, if I wanted a Blu-Ray player I can get them cheaper, and I have Wii/360/PC so that pretty much covers all other games. I love gaming but I'm not gonna drop even more cash on it to get those 3 games that I can't.It seems like they're getting harder and harder to come up with these days, doesn't it?

The price is a very acceptable excuse. The only problem is that there is a lot of people who don't need/want some of the stuff that makes it expensive (Blu-ray player), even though a PS3 give you the best bang for buck.
What I don't understand is people saying that the PS3 has "games I don't care about or not interested in." This is very interesting to me because I start to wonder about all the previous consoles these have had. Did they once own a PS2 with the huge game library then buy an Xbox for Halo/Fable 2? Or did PS3's small line up of games that it had in comparison to the Xbox 360 at PS3's launch draw them to the Xbox 360.

The Xbox was A, cheaper then the PS3. B, it had alot more good games. Also, it was blatently more powerful, and more diverse, hardware wise.I would rather get a gaming PC if I were going to get another system to game on. But that and there are only a few sony only games that I want [ LBP inFAMOUS MGS4 ]

You didn't read my whole post. I'm not talking about the price here. I'm talking about the people who say they want a 360 instead of the PS3 because they aren't interested in PS3 games, which assumes they aren't focused on the price. Also, I already said that the PS3 had a small line up of games compared compare to the Xbox so I don't know why you are basically repeating what I just said, lol.
The Xbox 360 isn't/wasn't more diverse hardware wise and at the PS3's launch it wasn't clear that it the Xbox 360 was"blatently"more powerful.

I'm not talking about current gen consoles. You said you wonder if these are the same people that bought an Xbox last gen just for Halo/fable. The difference being, last gen the PS2 was clearly the weaker console, and the Xbox was far more diverse. It had alot of great games (not as much as the PS2 albeit) and was a great media center.[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]I already own a Blu-ray player, there's no need for me to buy an additional one.mD-
so your post suggests that you believe that the PS3 is useless to you except for the fact that it can play blu-ray discs, right?

You say it was a great media center. Was it because of the hard drive so you could rip music on it? My brother was the one who played our Xbox game.

Before my PS3 broke -- the only use it would receive was from Blu-ray movies aside from a few instances of playing rented games on it. I bought it because it was cheapest Blu-ray player on the market -- hence why I view it as a "Blu-ray" player for that was the only reason I bought it. :|Ditto almost everyone else, not getting a ps3 is all about the price. I do have enough money but I'm just not willing to justify paying the price currently tagged when it will be most likely significantly cheaper (heres hoping) by probably september/october at the latest. I have a 360 and wii already so that's another reason. I will buy one though eventually, hopefully in the event of a price drop as I am keen to play a few of the exclusives and the blu ray player remains one of the better models on the market at the moment

Isn't it? Funny. This is part of the problem I have with direction of these "nextgen" consoles. Back in the playstation/n64 era it was mostly about just playing the great games and it was less about, which system you need to get to play the great games. Now a days people take the sides of certain consoles because they have a preference to their favorite games (which is alright I guess, but not when you fail to acknowledge that every console have great games worth owning). I like owning all game consoles because they all have very good exclusives, which would be terrible to miss (of course I still have a preference on which console has the better exclusives).I don't care for "GIANT ENEMY CRABS". And you "attack it's weak point for MASSIVE DAMAGE". It's Ridge Racer, Riiiidge Racer".

I think it would be worth the wait, since they are still very expensive, lol. How much did you buy your PS3 for?I know you were joking. I just felt compelled anyway to address all those who actually have an allegiance to a certain console.
Also, having limited resources to get all the games they want is still no excuse them to aggresively defend the console they bought and declare others as being useless, for causual gamers not hardcore gamers, or "having worst games than x console so it's dumb to buy it." There are a lot of people who do this this all the time and they are mostly ill informed
Easy. The cost is too high for what the PS3 would bring that my 360 doesn't. I'll spend a little more on my first system, and second systems are not gotten until they get cheap. If I had gotten the PS3 first, I would probably get the 360 around now(when the arcade dropped to 199) or I may have waited until the pro got to 199.It seems like they're getting harder and harder to come up with these days, doesn't it?

I bought the 40GB PS3 for $400, but when my PS3 broke -- Sony with all their infinite wisdom decided to discontinue the 40GB model -- so my replacement plan for my PS3 (given from Best Buy) was useless. They instead gave me a $403 giftcard... completely ignoring the fact that I payed well over $500 for it considering the cost of tax and the warranty. Needless to say, I was not happy. I used that giftcard to buy a few games and a buy a $270 (was on sale plus used a best buy rewards 12% discount) Blu-ray player.
The fact that I already have a Wii and a 360 and a DS and a PSP. 4 current-gen consoles out of 5 is already much I think so I'll have to pass the PS3. Plus there's only MGS4 and maybe Infamous that I'm interested in for the PS3 so it's really not worth it to buy this thing for two games. That and the price.
I'm happy with my Wii60 duo, I don't need more then that.
For most of the lemmings, its because of the price.
AdoringFan_
So if I'm strapped for money then I'm a lemming? Or if I am a lemming then I'm automatically strapped for cash??? NO
I don't understand why some people can't grasp why people don't want to buy another system. Ever thought that one is enough? Or that person isn't willing to spend that much money? Or that person isn't interested in the games???? Nope Boredy, Your dumb for even thinking that people are willing to spend money on something they can't afford or are not interested in....
Anyway, I don't want one because it's to much money. The Xbox is way cheaper but my mom still isn't that exuberant about buying it. What makes you think that she would want to buy something twice the price?
Price and NO Backward Compatibility (BC). :(
I wish I had bought one with 60Gb and BC when they were available.
I hope Sony would announce the SLIM PS3 with BC at E3. 8)
the only reason I dont have one is the trade in value for the 360 is trash ($60 at the game shops in my area)
I know people with 360s and Wiis so they don't need a PS3 but I also know people with PS3s so they don't need a 360 or Wii. People will buy what they like and if sales are any indication which systems sells the best and which system sells the worst, then sales should show that. My excuse for not getting a PS3 is because I already own one.
Interesting. I'm not trying to attack you or anything, but I'm just curious. What previous consoles have you owned? Intellivision. Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, N64, Gamecube, Xbox, Xbox360, but I game mostly on pc. Again the reason I don't have a PS3 is because it does not have a single game I want. I don't play MG games, and the only shooter I can tolerate on consoles is Halo.[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"]
Excuse? Give me a break. I don't have one because there isn't a single game on it that I want.
mD-
Don't need one, i have a decent PC, a 360 and a PS2 for this generation. I don't want to spend £300 for a few games i don't even like.
pretty much what he said, and on top of that, i already played all the ps3 games i was interested in.Excuse?
Is it an excuse to say I'm a poor college student who already owns a 360 and a PC and cannot justify shelling out $400 for a system with only a small amount of games that I find intresting?
