When was the last time you were amazed by game technology?

By amazed I mean really amazed, not just impressed :D

The last time I was really amazed was probably Oblivion on the PC. The game just seemed so huge, free, interactive and beautifull to look at. Later I found out that it wasn't all that good and it now doesn't look nearly as amazing as it did back then, but when it came out it was just amazing.

Crysis looked really good too, but I couldn't get in the game.

I think my DroidX is pretty amazing. I never realized that smart phones actually make life this convienient. its literally a pocket pc.

When I saw HD for the first time. NOw I have a 1080p samsung and I almost don't even see difference between HD and SD anymore... lol

Every time I buy a new GPU.

The GeForce DDR and Quake 3 Arena. Back then, it was jawdropping. I was impressed by Half-Life 2, but it wasn't the same. Nowadays, nothing impresses me.

Wen I played Uncharted 2. I was amazed they pulled off such a game on a console.

The Killzone 3 story trailer. I didn't even particularly like Killzone 2, but is it just me or does 3 look like twice as good? Seriously, facial animations, scale, lighting, everything. I'm in almost as much awe about the fact that SW isn't up in toils over the game's beauty as I am over the trailer itself.

PC HD and actually watching a film is different.

PCs has technically been HD since like the late 80s.

Before that... the E3 demo of Half-Life 2 in 2003.

Playing Wii Sports Resort and having my arm movement accurately re-created with Wii Motion Plus.

Also walking around the planets in Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2.

Also playing PC games.

Metro 2033 Didn't think a game could look so detailed especially the lightning and textures just looks incredible.

i was amazed with the failure rate the 360 has. That has to be a record in gaming history for many years to come.

Wolfenstein, Doom, Tempest 2000, Soul Calibur DC and Shenmue. After that it was just small improvements on everything.

Rome: Total War tops my list. Back when they announced the game, I was 12 years old. I just couldn't believe the fact that they could render thousands of soldiers in real time! Blew my mind away back then.

I'm gonna be different than everyone. Left 4 Dead amazed me the first time a horde came with 15-20 zombies RUNNING at you. Thats not all just about technology, but that moment did kind of amaze me

hmmm. I guess Maybe ucharted 2. But I don't think i was amazed, just very impressed.

I guess, a game that totally amazed me was gears of war on the xbox 360. At the time, it looked better than anything on the market, and it was the first next gen game I had played.

PS3 with The Dark Knight on Bluray.

Well since you say absolutely amazed and not just simply impressed I would have to go with playing FFVII on the PS1 and OoT on the N64. Both games had me in disbelief. The closest things since would be FFX and MGS2 on the PS2.

The whole package really. I know its an ugly game, but for its time it was pretty damn impressive. Though I still think FFVI is the better game, FFVII was a ridiculous technological leap. Trust me when I say I wasn't alone. Just look at the reviews from back then lol.
