^This. That said, the GCN had some amazing games on it.Dude... the GameCube was N64 status. No games to play throughout the year until the one or two Nintendo releases..... Even Nintendo are hoping the Wii U ends up as Wii status in sales with Xbox/PS status in third party support......

Never, unless Retro get innovative like Rare was during the N64.
NeonNinja
Rare was not innovative during the N64.
Rare WAS the N64
The 3DS IS N64 Status, AM I RIGHT SYSTEM WARS?
LegatoSkyheart
I actually like the N64 originals better. Nothing against the 3DS remakes but just saying.

In that case there were no games on it.N64 had more higher scoring exclusives than the PS1 fyi.
[QUOTE="nameless12345"][QUOTE="millerlight89"] I'll stay right here thanks. I just said Rare was awesome, so that is ignoring their achievements :?.Goldeneye is a bit overrated and it did not elevate console FPS games to PC level, you may want to think that, but they didn't. Hell that was evident when I was 10, so I know what's up. It wasn't that revolutionary. Halo on the other hand was.
millerlight89
Halo was revolutionary because of what again? Shield restoration? Dual weapon wielding? Vehicle usage? All seen before.
Yes Halo was revolutionary, Goldeneye not even near as innovative as Halo. Look at the number of FPS games we began to get after Halo. Can't really say the same for Goldeneye.Lol Halo stole all of it's "innovations" from Tribes. BTW there's a difference between influential and innovative. Halo was merely influential, mainly due to it's monetary success. Everybody else wanted to emulate that success, so the FPS market boomed, much like the first wave of post Doom FPS boom back in mid 90s.
[QUOTE="locopatho"][QUOTE="Pegalamp"] Gran Tourismo.PegalampOk thats one. Is everything less then GT an instant flop? You missed the point entirely like most Nintendo fanboys due. The whole point was that there are games that most games that were considered SUPER LEGENDARY at the time sold at a faster rate and more than Goldeneye. Like surprisingly Crash Bandicoot 1. I see 3 but I don't get what people see in 1.
Crash 1 is hardly "legendary". It's a very average platformer nowadays.
And let me ask you - how many PS1 games could you still re-release and they would still score as well as Ocarina 3D did? Well?

and dont have gamesl ike dkc no chance buddy n64 had great fpses , like goldeneye but it lacked everything else and since wii plays n64 games and has a remade goldeneye i like it the way it is

thats out of question and im sure the answer is only 1 -- for me any way- driver 2

Ehhhh NO? It had like 8 high scoring games. No on Gamespot the N64 had a lot of high scoring gamesThat is 18 games on Gamespot and I didn't even list A or AA titles.
Their would be more if I went by Metacritic.
[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]
You mean when will Nintendo go back to failing? They certainly don't want to go back to that status.
The N64 was pretty disappointing in my opinion. Sure it had SM64, Zelda OOT and Zelda MM. Though nothing else really stands out to me, a lot more stand out to me now with their current console and handhelds. The Wii, DS, 3DS are a lot better than those two previous generations in my opinion. The N64 had some classics but the droughts were horrible and third party support was lacking. The GC had a terrible schedule for game releases but collectively, the library wasn't too bad.
To me personally, the N64 was Nintendo's worst console and the Wii is up there with one of my favourites in terms of game releases and sheer quality of Nintendo's first party offerings and the exclusive, niche type third party experiences.
IMO:
OoT is the best Zelda ever (and MM is better than WW and TP)
Mario 64 is the best Mario ever
Perfect Dark and Goldeneye were LEGENDARY for their time and still do a lot right today
plus it introduced Smash Bros and 3D mario Kart, in addition to so much more. N64 beats Wii by a long shot :P.

Crash being an average platformer makes no sense especially when it for a time sold at a faster rate then Mario 64 and this is including when it was ON PSN and Mario 64 was a DS port.Sales don't necessarily imply the quality of the game. Crash 1 was pretty average even for the time being (I think it scored 60 or so here on GameSpot) while Mario 64 was basically a revolution in the platformer genre and for games in general.
