[QUOTE="IronBass"][QUOTE="Phaze-Two"]because everything in videogames are subtle and have reasons to justify them.the only reason needed is this: harmless fun.Phaze-Two

Not everything, but certain things should. Killing children being one of them.

why? how is it harmful to me?

He probably thinks it will over time turn you into a sociopath who will move on to killing real flesh-and-blood humans.

[QUOTE="crippled_ram"]Name one situation where kids with guns that CAN BE KILLED, makes any sense.HelloMoto56

don't worry, he resides in movie-land.

where every kid of the age of six at least has enough competency with a gun to hold it gangster-style, and pop a cap in yo' ***.

No, I play video games. The things that already aren't realistic. I'd love to see a group of kids in Fallout try to rob a caravan passing by (if I was chaotic good i'd falcon punch them across the map). Or a kid in TES trying to be some big hero. Just because they are in the game doesn't mean you have to find every last one and kill them on sight. It just adds to the immersion (like full fledged families) and it's fun.

To you? No idea. But I'm not talking about you. It's harmful to the developer (due to the media backlash), it's harmful to players who would find it overly disturbing, it's harmful to the image of gaming in general and it would be harmful to everyone that thinks certain things are off-limits (which considering it's a taboo, I'm guessing they are many).

[QUOTE="crippled_ram"][QUOTE="nervmeister"][QUOTE="crippled_ram"] The prevailing ethic is, maybe there will one day be a video game story that requires that children die, or that a woman is raped, or something like that.

Many, MANY of the people gamers did kill in GTA or Red Dead Redemption did not need to die, but got beaten, stabbed, or shot by the player nonetheless. If innocent adults can be killed in such a manner, then innocent children shouldn't be any different save for biological maturity.

Are you talking about random pedestrians/citizens/policemen you killed in the game? Not the story triggered ones? Yeah well, I am disgusted by that as well. If it's the ones in the story youre talking about, you DO realise that when you're telling a story about criminals, there will be casualties, right? In such an instance, where it's all part of a larger story, a kid dying would be... something I can overlook. However, I repeat, indiscriminate killing is DISGUSTING

You manipulating a digital animated image on your TV screen is killing?

No, I don't think that. Considering how little you know about me, I'd appreciate that you don't speculate about what I think or not ;)

Like others said, Fallout 2 lets you kill kids without mods. I killed one myself. Out of self defense... ... Hey, don't look at me like that!

Now he's being redundant and just saying "cuz" regardless of the fact that it won't make the player some crazy murderer that will bomb a school in real life (hell any form of anything could influence that regardless). They're just pixels with no emotions at all. No hard feelings, Iron.

Controversy sells. :P

Just because the children ARE there, doesn't mean that you are forced to kill every single one in the game.

Gaming isn't exactly shined upon by society.
