Where did all the complainers about paying for online go?

XBL is worth it because of how good it's online games have been since it's inception in 2002. I can't actually think of a online ps2, ps3 and probably launch ps4 game that has good online

I usually saw 2-3 posts a day about that in the past. But I don't see anymore of those posts.  Where did they go?

They shut up when they found out SONY would be charging for online play?

XBL was never worth the money. X0 should be different though for the dedicated servers. And what is exactly wrong with PS3 online games? They don't play any different than 360 games.

Yeah it sucks, but the Xbox Live interface is better than PSN, so maybe the extra money should fix that. But if PS Plus keeps on delivering quality free games, then you won't see me complaining.Granny_Spanked
When you stop paying for the service, your "Free" games go away. That would be considered a RENTAL, not free. I don't understand why Cows can't grasp this fact.

Then I guess Xbox multiplayer games are rentals as well even though you pay for them. And the instant game collection isn't the only thing that's paid for with Plus. The weekly deals, included themes/gamerpics, etc pretty much makes the service pay for itself.

SONY is charging for online gaming on the Ps4, did you forget that, You will need PS+ to play online next gen so i suppose the PS4 multiplayer games are rentals as well right?

The 5 games per month already make Plus worth it, though. I am happy to see that MS now offer games with Gold. Too bad it's just a temporary thing because MS sure as hell need to do something to justify Gold.

I internalized all my hate for paying for online console gaming and turned it into...

Tasty Brownies!!! I also remembered that my #1 gaming platform is PC so the brownies and the gaming are free! :D

Apparently you have never debated with me before or you wouldn't be rebutting with the PS4. I dont take sides. And of course they would be rentals too. Since by not paying your bill, you lose access. Hell. Any digital game you pay money for would technically be a rental as well since you don't actually own the game and both Microsoft and Sony can revoke your privliges for any reason they see fit. You Lems and cows use these dumb debates to make your console seem better than the other but in the end, you are all f*cked. But if it comes down to paying face value for digital content or having access to it through a subscription, the subscription is a much better deal. I mean as long as you continue to find value in the service, those games never go away. Its certainly not like renting from blockbuster where your game has a return date, late fees and eventually are responsible for the cost of the game or gamefly where you get one or two games at a time and can't get anymore until those games are returned. Your plus library just keeps building and building. Is this a bad thing or something? And judging by Gamestops success, most people don't keep their games anyway.

Isn't it obvious, TC?

That said, not every game needs PSN+ to be played online. Planetside 2, Warframe and War Thunder, for example, or some features like sharing vids and pics, etc...

i wouldn't know i am a gold subscriber but your point is moot because you need to pay to get the 'Free' games on the Ps3, i get to keep the game whether i Carry on subscribing to gold or Not, PS+ users 'Free' games dissapear when they end there Ps+ subscription, obvioulsy MS have a better understanding of the word 'Free'

This calmness is strange.

Free games were never advertised as being a part of a gold subscription before last month. MS is giving free games out because they care about their gamers. PS+ revolves around advertising rentals because they needed a way to compete with MS and their online service wasn't good enough so they had to throw something together. big difference.

That's because console gamers are used to this. Cows certainly had no problem paying extra for multitap, memory cards, hard drives that only worked with one game, Ethernet adaptors, etc on the PS2. Why would they care about paying for online on the PS4? Or maybe they are just happy that Lems will finally STFU up with "Our service is better because we pay for it".

Microsoft doesnt advertise anything hardly and since you can't get them as Silver, they are not free. And a greedy corporation cares about their gamers? You are dumber than a Cow. Ballmer must have added extra sugar to your last batch of Kool Aid. Maddox had a pretty interesting video on his site where he said Sony was able to slip this in because their E3 presentation and policies happened to suck a bit less than Microsofts. While everybody was in an uproar, Sony slipped it in and nobody seemed to notice or care. I think people are also under the assumption that the instant game collection will continue to deliver which may or may not be true.

That and the free games they're giving right now. If you see the comments you'll see stuff like "I don't care, PSN+ gives me a lot of value in free games"

I mean is fine if Sony keeps on giving free games year after year but I somehow doubt this thing will go on. They're not a charity, they're paying to publishers for this. The only reason why they're doing it now is to give some value to PSN+ since in terms of services it has been a bit behind Live this gen, create good publicity to gain the trust of consumers for the new console and slip a sub for MP without getting much flak for it.

All played on P2P servers and many third party developed. Windows users get Xbox Live as well. Guess what. They don't have to pay for it. M$ tried to charge and the gamers did nothing but laugh. And funny how you have PSO on that list. Not only did you need Xbox Live Gold but you also had to pay a monthly hunters license fee.

Yeah it sucks, but the Xbox Live interface is better than PSN, so maybe the extra money should fix that. But if PS Plus keeps on delivering quality free games, then you won't see me complaining.Granny_Spanked

That's because console gamers are used to this. Cows certainly had no problem paying extra for multitap, memory cards, hard drives that only worked with one game, Ethernet adaptors, etc on the PS2. Why would they care about paying for online on the PS4? Or maybe they are just happy that Lems will finally STFU up with "Our service is better because we pay for it".

well to be fair, you are speaking of hardware for a system that was developed before online play on consoles was really a thing, (same with harddrives) and 2 players for playstation was just a thing from the gen before it as well. Now you've got another scenario where the times of changed and people have to get used to it. This time, it's for the worse. Console gamers don't really have a way to stick it to the console makers like PC gamers did with GFWL. have online buy subscribing or don't. Nobody is happy, but it does make sense since MS showed everyone that you can charge for console online and get away with it. That and all the money Sony lost letting millions use their services for free for an entire gen pretty much makes it not THAT big of a surprise.

Apparently you were too stupid to read or even understand the Xbox Live Terms of Use upon purchase of the service. F*cking kids these days. Didnt read because you couldn't understand it anyway.Murderstyle75

Oh give over  You're a fu*king broken record when it comes to MS.

Technically you don't own the games on disc either. Big deal.

[QUOTE="mems_1224"][QUOTE="Murderstyle75"][QUOTE="mems_1224"] They are free. They are just a perk of being a part of the best gaming service on consoles. They last three years haven't been Halo/forza/gears. Only an ignorant person who doesnt play games would think that

Ok. so I forgot about Kinect and generic Arcade games. bu bu bu bu but the multiplats. Fact of the matter is, Microsoft Studios had more going on in 2004 alone than they have the last 3 years put together.

Doesn't matter, the 360 still offers more quality games than their console competitors. Thats been a constant this entire gen

. Disagree or instead of seeing crap like Ninety Nine Nights, Too Human and Blue Dragon. We would have seen the same quality we saw in all those originsl gen games and early 360 games like Gears. When even companies like Rare wanted to make even Killer Instinct, they were told to get bent.

[QUOTE="Murderstyle75"][QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="Murderstyle75"] So Silver members get it too?

i wouldn't know i am a gold subscriber but your point is moot because you need to pay to get the 'Free' games on the Ps3, i get to keep the game whether i Carry on subscribing to gold or Not, PS+ users 'Free' games dissapear when they end there Ps+ subscription, obvioulsy MS have a better understanding of the word 'Free'

Paying for Gold = Not Free.

It is when the game is not tied to the subcription like PS+. From what I heard, the deal applies to silver members of at least 1 or 2 years.

It's best you keep quiet when you've spent an entire generation making fun of a company that charges for online play, only to have your company do the same now.freedomfreak

Nope. My sons account is currently silver and is four years old. Its actually been gold longer than its been silver too. Just tried to unlock Crackdown after reading your post and it says 14.99. The advertisment on his home page says "GO GOLD for FREE GAMES & MORE.

Oh we are still here ^^ Currently waiting to see exactly HOW the paid subscriptions are this upcomming gen, but given that I am mainly a PC gamer, it will likely not go down well. They REALLY have to offer more then just a carrot for me to accept it.

aka "playstation fanboys"? They decided to follow suit and (since Sony requires it now pretty much) say that paying for online isn't bad. Sad bunch of people that group is.

God, this thread is just back and forth nonsense. I demand something good to read. Have at it!
