Isnt manly and hardcore games kind of an opposite?? I mean doubt many people would associate gaming 10 hours a day with anything remotely manly....

God Of War obviously. Kratos is the manliest protag of all times.
This^
All the dudes from Gears of War. They are so manly they got bromance.
Am I the only one who never considered Contra games difficult? Only now I'm realizing that people considered it difficult. I finished different Contra games including the original multiple times back in 90s.
the original Ninja Gaiden on the NES ... like many game on the NES it was super hard and unfair.
the Original Devil May Cry 3, not the special edition with Vergil .... no no no ... the original version of the game. It was brutal. The easiest difficulty setting was like the hard mode of the special edition.
Falcon 4.0.
I rather become a real pilot. Those fvcking manuals. Lol.

WTF WTF WTF
I need to read this in order to play Falcon 4.0 ??? =P
Yeah some old games were way too complex. Falcon 4.0 is one of those games. It's for niche market. It is for people who want 1:1 experience. You really feel like flying an actual plane. Manuals explain everything that the game has, like different systems, key bindings as well as controls etc.

Sounds better than DOOM :)
As far as the Ninja Gaiden games go I'll stick with the original 2, not the Sigma versions. They were tougher. 3 blows imo.

3: Razors Edge is more Harder than Ninja Gaiden Black or II. Mind it i'm saying Razors Edge, not 3. Ninja Gaiden 3 was easy as a pie. On 3 your health depletes for infection and you have to to get a kill streak to get regain your health ( Not Elixirs or anything of that sort ). Razors Edge was Hard as nails :(
Falcon 4.0.
Was gonna say something like this....A-10C Warthog.....Gary Grigsby's War in the East...

It may have been, but it also blew dogs for quarters imo.
All the "manly" characters in games are a joke. They're not manly. They're pigs.
I think Red Dead Redemption has a strong male character, as does the Batman Arkham trilogy.
Hardcore is a totally different thing to me- blood and guts doesn't = hardcore. Difficulty = hardcore. And that can range from difficultly settings, to just generally more difficult games. Hardcore means that you're going to put the time into the game to learn all the mechanics, learn tricks you can utilize to make it easier for you, learn when is the right time to use items, and know when you need to have patience and think strategically rather than just always running to the right in a platformer or standing out in the open with no cover in a shooter or not just button mashing in a fighter.
The manliest scene in gaming history:
Hehe...Chris "McTriceps" Redfield is very manly! Uppercut the zombies hoho yeah! ^_^
@drummerdave9099:
Not Kratos. That guy literally gets laid every game, rips monsters apart, and doesn't fear anything! Duke Nukem is there too but Duke is more like a man child. Snake is really manly too!
@indzman:
My favorite is Jill Valentine. She's totally my waifu! Waifu number 3, that is. Which is ironic cuz she first appeared in Resident Evil 3!
Don't know... never cared about such things. But I would say fall of the samurai cause running through artillery fire and getting shot into pieces by bullets from machine guns and rifles while only caring a samurai sword or spear is pretty manly and brave to me.
Also, Napoleonic wars because there is nothing more manly than standing in a line while taking an entire musket volley in your face. Actual real men who fought in stylish uniform unlike those modern day soldiers who cowardly hide behind cover armed with an assault rifle and equipped with body armor.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Senran Kagura: Estival Versus
Megadimension Neptunia VII
Onechanbara Z2 Chaos
Nights of Azure
@Jag85:
Of course! I mean that was her first time as the full protagonist in Resident Evil 3. She was option 2 in Resident Evil 1 but was Resident Evil 3 was dedicated to her. That's what I meant.
@indzman: Though Falcon 4.0 required the manual to some extend, the ingame tutorials did a pretty good job with teaching you the ropes
With this been said, 4.0 is to this day one of the most authentic and realistic modern air combat sim around, only rivaled by DCS A-10C which has a 600hundred page manual too and its used to train real A-10C pilots
